wow i actually found the first android bug that bugged me out last night: So my Moto x pure has 2 camera apps. The native moto x camera app, and one i downloaded from the play store: google camera. In the MXP app you can point your photos to the SD card. In the Google camera app you cant...

    Fable Legends DX12 benchmark

obviously a worst case scenario. real life is no where near those #s because of idle.

    Fable Legends DX12 benchmark

that was a false narrative. AMD performing well in aots was/is always about midrange cards that would offer unexpected performance gains over top tier cards, comparatively speaking of course

    Fable Legends DX12 benchmark

I dont see anything here that changes what we saw in AOTS. AMD defeats Nvidia in midrange handily. Deciding between 980/980ti/furyx/fury is now an exercise of what you actually are going to use the card for, and when your next upgrade timeframe lies. Legitimate arguments independent of price...

    Moto X Pure Edition

I get 4 hours of SOT using verizon LTE very consistently. I can get 5 hours of SOT if I watch youtube or play games instead of web browsing on chrome. With wifi i can manage 4.5hrs pretty consistently with my normal usage. The value is incredible relative to the $600 flagships. In my opinion...

right... it creates a precedent that will cut into profit margin down the road. Case in point, 1gb ram on the original 6+ neutered the phone. Instead of allowing users full multitask features, they gimped the phone simply because they wanted to maintain or increase profit margin. Just look at...

    Samsung will not make pascal

and that's why people that laugh at async shouldnt be taken seriously. if there is any modicum of delay, nvidia is in a huge pinch, while AMD can still rebrand and pump out even cheaper 28nm cards in 2016, when basically AMD is guaranteed to have 2 of the top 5 biggest games for 2016--...

more like besides intel, no one is delivering 14/16nm chips at 300mm2 die sizes at reasonable yields.

    2015 Moto X & Moto G

To each his own but I had my ip6+ display side by side with the mxp and there was no question to me that the mxp was superior in black levels. My ip6+ was way too cool and there was no mid range in colors compared to my mxp which seemed more balanced.

ip4 --> galaxy s4 ---> ip6+ --> motoxpure things i'm glad to have back 1. real file system: I hate having to push files app to app to app hoping that eventually i am able to actually achieve my desired intent: e.g. i had to emergency genius scan a sensitive document on iOS one time, and it...

    2015 Moto X & Moto G

well considering the phone started off at like 70% battery and i pushed through about 7gb of data on wifi, i'd say that 70-0% with 3hrs SOT is very good. brightness was about 35%. this thing gets very bright, and im not a big fan of autobrightness, i just like to keep it at 20-30% depending on...

    2015 Moto X & Moto G

I got 3hrs of SOT with wifi only straight out of the box, so it wasnt even fully charged. Cant see anyway i dont get 4hrs of SOT with LTE (still on verizon unlimted) once everything is settled in.

Marques Brownlee's convincing video "On the Perfect Smartphone"

google fucked up, that's why. Google didnt understand how to brand android beyond customization. Android is for the real power user, but they let phone makers run wild. They shouldve limited manufacturers to locked bootloaders & launchers. That's it. If manufacturers wanted their own features...

    Nexus M ( 2015 ) Smartphone

In LCD tech, I dont believe that super high resolutions affect battery life more than OLED tech. Because the backlight still has to push through each pixel, and you're not lighting up each pixel individually like you are OLED. BUT higher PPI means that it's more difficult to push light...

    Galaxy Tab S2

4:3 shouldnt bother people on an AMOLED. I had the original tab S, and that was the best screen i had ever seen. It's too bad that the cpu/gpu couldnt drive the 2k resolution or else I wouldve kept it.

Oxide now says that NVIDIA does support Async Compute

This issue has never been about Fiji vs Maxwell2. The real question is does Pascal offer async on the hardware level. And did AMD move allin on design for arctic islands for DX12. Any delay in 16nm TSMC production would be amazing for AMD.
  32. O

Oxide now says that NVIDIA does support Async Compute

So basically nvidia had source code for 1year +. They were aware that oxide was pushing async technology very hard. Instead of fixing their driver to fully support async, they actively discouraged oxide from featuring it in their benchmark. Fast forward 1 year, nvidia still says it supports...

Async compute gets 30% increase in performance. Maxwell doesn't support async.

nice find! Kanter also says that he is not aware of any chip die from TSMC with +400mm2 that is in production with acceptable yield at 16nm. (keep in mind that Pascal is rumored to be 600mm2) So if there is any delay in 16nm production, AMD wins regardless of whatever fixes come with Pascal...

Async compute gets 30% increase in performance. Maxwell doesn't support async.

its not in theory, people have been talking about possible increases in AMD performance from w10 and then dx12 since the spring. We are now seeing the manifestations of those increases with this benchmark.
  38. O

Async compute gets 30% increase in performance. Maxwell doesn't support async.

+1 The million dollar question is: Pascal/Greenland AMD having 250$ cards perform on par with 980Ti is simply the best possible hedge against any possible next gen delay too, and for the longest time AMD can field a completely full desktop lineup moving forward. They can continue to...

Thoughts on current lineup not supporting DX12?

I think you are massively misinterpreting the situation. It was Nvidia's choice to label their Maxwell2 cards as possessing both full DX12 support & async computing. This is not some conspiracy "gotcha" ruse by console developers, game developers & AMD. If you believe the latest Beyond3D...
