Need to make boot disks for my IBM 5150. I have the cables and disks but couldn't get a M3A78-CM floppy controller to play nicely with the old 360K drives even after cleaning. Works fine with a 1.2MB drive but due to to smaller write size, the old drives don't want to read what that writes.
I'd...
Seemed to happen to me quite awhile ago. Didn't use my old 1996 yahoo address for facebook and someone made an account using it even though they didn't have my yahoo password. So I just took it back and removed the other address and left it as a fake/blank profile.
Soeaking of, I found a Riva 128 in my office today. Anyone want it?
On topic: I use Kaspersky and paid Malwarebytes just to be safe when I have a brain fart and click on something impatiently. I use that combo for the non technical people I know too - maybe for me it's more of a 'I want to know...
Also worth noting that PA is planning to raise the gas tax again this/next year along with with the sales tax from 6% to 7.5% (7 to 8.5% in Allegheny county/Pittsburgh since politicians there are money hungry f-sticks). So glad I left.
We have probably about 200 units on 5 floors in my building and all packages are taken in a back room in the leasing office. It's an absolute madhouse. They obviously didn't design the building to have close to a hundred packages a day. People have ordered huge furniture and it has sat there for...
Correct, it was right about the time GF was started (2004, 2005ish I believe). I think I was one of the first FIOS ones because we were on DSL and 18k+ feet from the office so we could only get 860kbit max down when it worked at all.
Considering Pennsylvania gave $2.1 Billion to Verizon to wire the whole state and they did about 5% said, "Whoops, ran out of money..." and stopped. Good reason to be mad...
I have a Minecraft 1.8.7 Vanilla server at malingowski.net:25565.
It's not on 24/7 right now but will be soon. I bought an Intel NUC that I'll copy it to and run it from there.
Because BPL and other power line networking methods generally create a LOT of RF noise and thus is tightly regulated by the FCC (in the USA at least). Ask any amateur radio operator what they think of power line based networking. You might want to wear body armor.
The best part about the ID cards argument is that the people who want government ID cards are generally the same ones who say that they shouldn't need ID to vote.
Okay - that's fine if you want that, but who decides what is right and wrong? For example, if someone in the government suddenly...
I'll be the first to say that I don't think CreepyUncleGoogle is a bad guy. I just don't agree with him most (not all) of the time. I just wish he'd understand that there's a lot more corruption, ignorance, and evil in our government than he sees.
Nazi Germany required everyone to get identify the Jewish population so they could annihilate them. Please read about the "Final Solution".
Once the government has an easy to access database, there isn't a lot stopping Congress, Senate, and whoever the President is at the time to pass a law...
I think the issue is that you are suggesting things that Adolf Hitler and Joseph Goebbles suggested were solutions for making Germany a world power in 1933-1945. Which means you are promoting Nazi ideas. I don't think you understand how millions of innocent (by today's standards) people died...
Exactly. I still have my 920 (waiting for AT&T to get a 930/Icon class phone), and in the IT department here, it's pretty equal between iPhone/Android/Windows Phone. I was amazed how many people had Windows Phones really.
And the camera, even on the 920, is far better than any other I've seen...
Off topic: Univ of Denver is looking for a Linux guy right now. They have similar kick ass benefits to where I am now (Univ of Pittsburgh). I just figure it's a step back since I've been a Windows and VMware guy my whole career. While I can do most of the Linux stuff they'd need, I'm not moving...
Might be the best thing about wanting to move to Colorado - I'm 33 and not a pot smoker with 10 years of sysadmin experience. There's hundreds of open IT jobs out there because they require you to stay off the ganja.
Mehhhh. My launch GameBoy in 1989 came with ear buds. I agree with them being ultra uncomfortable though. Especially for being a 2nd grader at the time.
Eh, but he got his intended effect. I'll think twice about staying at a Drury Inn now if they treat their employees like that.
Not saying other chains don't treat their employees like crap, but calling someone a terrorist for taking pictures that anyone staying there could take (Drury has...
