It was nice meeting you and all the folks at the Maker Faire who saw this mod born on [H]ardocp! See you next year if ya make the show!~
Crazy 600lbs of skids to ship to the show:
Setting up Doom 3 and Project Nighthawk:
Project Nighthawk
Thanks Monsoon. Underneath its still an Antec LanBoy case with the front bezel and harddrive cage removed--thats about it--to be honest the only reason i used this particular case is the fact that it was laying around the shop, and was fairly small for a midtower.
I really couldnt calculate...
hey, thanks all for the kudos--it means a lot :) I'm building a proper display stand for the case, and as soon as I get this done in a few days i'll take the nice shots and closeups--I also have tons of video footage that I have to go through and assemble into clips. I'll link everyone up to...
After 15 months, I'm 99.9% done....!!! There will be an official page up soon on Newegg.com that will have really good shots of the case as well as plenty of video and other good stuff--stay tuned and thanks to all for sticking with me and helping out with this huge project--more to come soon!
**NEW** Photographic Inventory of (almost) every single finished part and PC component of the project. This album will be updated regularly as I do the final assembly--i think there are about 10 more parts to photograph :)
Revisiting that extension piece I made for the back of the case, here it is finish painted. I made a little plaque that has the Doom3 logo and the chainsaw that I made way back at the start of the project. There is also a spot for a lighted marquee (where you see the 4" white CCFL) at the top of...
Thanks for the link--I had no idea where it went :p I'm just now photographing every piece and part to the mod in order to catalogue it before I assemble it all--this way it will make sense as i log the final progress.
I think it will be OK--One advantage is that its not recycling warm air from the interior of the case to cool the rad like so many other WC setups I've seen--but we'll see once I'm pushing the hardware what the temps are
The laser etch is really nicely done thanks to you!--and yes..the names are visible. although i think they are backwards because the smooth side is facing out-- :D
Thanks for the info on the memory :D All the hardware has been sponsored by my friends at www.newegg.com and www.frozencpu.com and is already on the workbench and prepared for installation--I'll see about getting more ram for a future upgrade--hell maybe I'll win a stick or two in a contest...
The specs of the system are updated:
AMD FX57
Asus A8N Premium mobo
1GB Corsair memory
2x PNY 7800GTX

LSI Logic Ultra320 SCSI card
Plextor SATA Dual Layer DVD burner
PC Power & Cooling...
Whew!...alright it looks like its finally in the home stretch--Nothing more to build, just paint and assemble--easier said than done--although since the entire mod is built around modules, everything should fit right into place. Lots of wiring to do as well--but its 99% done overall. Here are...

Cool!---try ebay for scrap model parts--many people sell "lots" of unfinished kits that you can get a nice big box of to use for kitbashing. Also search for brand name DiY toys like Robitix, or scrounge at yard sales.Good Luck!
