Yeah that sounds like something wasn't seated right or a fan is broken or something. But yes a notebook cooler will help but you should never need one for a netbook...
I just ordered one so hopefully yes! They seem to be more gamer / high end user oriented. From what I can tell as well a lot of their stuff is upgradeable etc etc. Here are some links to reviews and other forum posts about it:

Hey [H]
Looking for advice from folks, I've been eying this laptop: ASUS F6Ve-B1. I'm looking for something that I can play games on, stuff like supcom, RA3, Civ 4, TF2, nothing super harcore. I've never been much of a laptop person so I really don't know anything about them outside of the...
Installing now. I have been a big fan of the C&C RA series so I've been waiting for this one for a while. The only thing I'm worried about though is I think Supreme Commander has spoiled me for RTS games. So hopefully I enjoy this one. If not i got the poster with it so I'm happy :)
I work in a school district and our Special Ed / Assistive technology department uses these types of apps / devices all the time. If gtg's solution doesn't work for you check out Co:Writer it has word prediction they have a piece called write out loud that works nicely with it as well. For an...
do you have any current gear? What kind of gear do your friends have? The reason that I ask that would be because if all of your friends are rolling Nikon and or Canon you could borrow lenses from them. That's what got me into Nikon.
One of the eclipse tonight. Not really too happy with how it turned out. It was so cold here couldn't get my hands to manual focus it so i went auto :(
Some more of my shots:
this one I took with my diy softbox.

Ditto is this XP 32bit 64bit, or Vista 32bit or 64bit. Are you running Firefox? Firefox does that to me sometimes when I just wake my computer up from sleep and I didn't shut down firefox. As soon as I load up a game I find out Firefox has taken up about 1.5gb of ram...
Hey don't knock the film cameras. Remember it's about the photographer not the equipment. Another option though is if you can find a used D50 or D70 those would also work as great starter cameras.
We have added ghosting to the list of things we will use in testing. I've never used nor seen the Qcheck app. It looks promising though. Isn't netpersec a lot like iperf?
Add to that list a
Nikon D200
--Tamron 18-55/2.8
--Manfrotto (can't remember the models) tripod and ball head :)
best money ever spent was for that tripod. Never skimp on your support ;)
Wow I'd get another D200 if I saw it at this price range. I'd be skeptical of that. Sounds like your best bet is the D80, and to reiterate what the other fine users have said never swap a photographers gear. You silly Canon people :)
We are getting in a couple of HP NC364T PCI-E 4 port gigabit nic cards for testing. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for testing bandwidth usage on these. We were planning on getting one our labs and running iperf against each of the ports simultaneously to test speed /...
SSH from anywhere in the world, ssh samba inside the home. I have this same thing on a debian box at home. The wife uses samba to connect from her macbook. I use samba from my gaming tower, and sftp while i'm at work. Plus it runs some other things that are just helpful like a web server, mysql...
I would love a subnotebook but if it does come out for $1500 then I might just wait for the ASUS EEE pc with the full I think it's 8 or 9" screen. Now if Apple's device had like a core 2 duo in it and had the ability to twist the screen so you could use it tablet style with some ebook...
Ditto, my only difference is that I use Debian Etch but it's the same thing. I like having the gui on my server. All of our work linux boxes use Debian with the web boxes using Ubuntu. Still mostly a M$ shop though.
One thing to keep in mind is what the software manufacturer supports the database on. If this is some software you're buying you might be locked into mssql with no option of change. Just keep in my what the software manufacturer supports. Nothings worse then having to call support and find out...
Have you posted over at the VMware Communities forum? They are normally pretty good about responding. Although I've always had issues with white boxes and ESX server.
that's really cool with the fender case. I'll be able to post my setup this weekend 'cause i've got another lan. I wish I knew about this thread because I just finished putting everything back after MadLan.
Actually not too hot. The longest i've used them has been about 2 hours. They do get a lil warm though. I went for the closed just because of the noise isolation, which is phenomenal with these. I'd say go for 'em.
Yep, Bed Bath & Beyond. $9.99, I might look into having one custom made though. I've got access to one of the local tech centers for high school students, and they love making custom metal / wood work things.
My new cans:
ATH-A900, before this I had some Sennheiser 497's, and some Icemat Siberia 2's. These things sound super nice, still breaking them in though. The sound isolation is great on them too.
If you're still looking at HP I would say stay away from the MSA series if you want to grow this to anything. We are experiencing some growing pains with the MSA and the performance is quite crappy when hooked up to our 3 ESX boxes. We will be looking at an EVA rig hopefully beginning of the...
Well I just pulled the trigger on some Audio-Technica ATH-A900's :) These will be my main gaming headphones as well as being used for music, mostly hip hop and jazz. So hopefully they'll be here within the week :) :) These will be replacing my Icemat Siberia's and my Sennheiser HD497's. YAY!!
