I'm in the same boat as you. I have been with AT&T for about 7-8 years and am disapointed with their non iPhone phone selection. I am prepared to jump to Sprint once the EVO 4G is released. From everything I have read, people in the Bay Area seem to be very happy with their Sprint service...
Woah there... you mean to tell me that you don't own ANYTHING that is made out of leather or some sort of animal skin? Furniture, car seats, shoes, belts, etc...? Maybe you don't even eat meat, but meat is part of normal diet for MOST people. Why let the skin go to waste? Isn't it better to...
I never understood why people say that Smart Phones aren't useful without a dataplan. A dataplan is a nice feature to add, but it's not necessary to take advantage of most of the features of a Smartphone. I have a dataplan, and it's great to have, but not a requirement to have a useful...
I LOVE my Canon SD790is. Fantastic camera and the prices are pretty good since it's been out for a while. I admit, it does not have a wide-angle lense (it's only real hold up), but the "fit and finish" seemed much better than the other's inthe SD series. It's also thinner as well, and I...
I need to blow out and rebuild a server, but don't want to have to go through and re-create my shares and permissions for 100+ users. Does anyone know a way to back this information up and restore it after I rebuild the OS drive?

Windows MCE w/ the Microsoft Media Center remote is IMO the best choice for user friendliness. I love my Microsoft remote, it's extremely well laid out and intuitive. Runs about $35 too. You might be able to find AIO packages w/ tuner's MCE, and remote if you search around.
For tuners, I...
The Value is also the "Lacquer" finish, which personally, I don't like. Supermediastore.com offers the Silver or White Inkjet printable finishes. I prefer the Silver finish, keeps finger prints off, and is worth the extra couple $$ IMO.
I'm looking for a new 8-Port KVM for a business environment to work with our servers. It needs to be rackmount and switch between 8 computers. Price range is up to $1000, but I'm looking for something less than $500.
Right now I'm mainly looking at this Avocent Switchview OSD KVM, which...
There is a service provider who provides the 5 analog lines. We are looking for the best solution for our business (15 phone stations). We can build a PBX server if necessary, or buy one, or a virtual office type service. I'm really new to all this so I'm looking for the best solution all around.
I've been briefly reading about the Asterisk software, and it's definitely a possibility to run a dedicated PBX server. Would we be able to have more multiple outgoing calls at one time using Asterisk for PBX and standard business service? Or is it like an analog phone where you have to have...
I am new to the world of VoIP and am looking to upgrade our business over from anolog to VoIP. We need the ability to have a minimum of 4 outgoing calls being placed at one time. We also have about 15 phone stations that need to have extensions for each employee, along with personal voicemails...
Just to add in another fact when considering TV's:
DLP/LCD Projection TV's don't have the greatest viewing angles (how far to the right/left or up/down you can be standing in reference to the TV). That is the main downfall of DLP/LCD Projection units other than their size. If you look at a...
Just take a paperclip or something metalic and short the terminals that the batteries connect to. It's a common issue, and usually happens when a button gets held down for an extended period of time. I read somewhere it's supose to be a safety feature so you don't run out your batteries.

It's a local company (Livermore, CA), they are about 10 minutes from my Bay Area, CA house. I do business with them ALL the time, they are awesome. I go there in person and talk to them, but you can order online. Use coupon CAT2245 during checkout and you will save...
Check eBay for a used screen, you might get lucky and find a direct replacement. Depending on price, that might be the best option. Either that or maybe it's time to upgrade to a new laptop and just sell off the broken one.
My recordings look just fine on MCE. Same quality as watching the TV live. Maybe it's something else causing the recordning to look poor. What Tuner card do you have?
I looked at the Thermalright NB-1 a while back. The problem with it is that it's too tall and won't fit between the NB and the Zalman CPU cooler.
Is it worth getting the Zalman Northbridge Cooler ZM-NB47J which is just passive and epoxying it onto the NB, or should I just leave the stock HSF...
My PRV-250MCE seems to do the job okay. A couple channels are faded out, but that's more of the fault of the cable company because they're faded on all our TV's.
Hooking the X-Box up to the tuner probably won't work very well. I tried hooking up an old console system to my PVR-250MCE and the video and sound were fine, but their was a major delay between when you press buttons and move things around with the controller and when it shows up on the screen...
I have two Abit IC7-Max3 motherboards, and both of them had the Chipset fan die on them. I have even purchased the replacements from Abit, and both of those died no more than 3 months later.
I'm looking for an alternative chipset heatsink/fan solution, but there are a couple problems I run...
Sorry about the loss man :(
You have to get another one though, one way or another. After going 24" at 1920x1200, everything else just looks too small :D
If you have the Microsoft MCE Remote, it comes with an IR attachment you can put on your cable box that will change channels as well. Just another alternative.
Definately, I work with HUGE spreadsheets and access databases, and having the ability to rotate the monitor into a widescreen portrate is a definite bonus. It shows something around 112 cells vertically.
The AC/Heater duct filters work the best IMO. I've been using them for years, and they filter out 95% of the dust or so.
I replace the filter ever 4-6 months and give the computer a quick blow out, and I'm good to go again.
That reminds me, it's about time to do that, and I just look in...
That's what I do too. I leave my 17" off most of the time unelss I need it, the 24" in plenty sufficient for most daily needs.
Tawnos, just realized you're at Poly, what year and major are you?
Is it really worth taking a loss on selling the 2405 to use the money on the girlfriend? You'll make more money, and you'll just be throwing away the difference in what you paid vs. what you can sell it for.
Is this for anything specific for the girlfriend or just all the little things added...
I have a Dell 2405FPW running 1920x1280 resolution. I've ran this with both an ATI X800XT and an old ATI 8500 64MB video card flawlessly. I didn't try to game or anything with the 8500 but for normal applications it works fine.
Hopefully that gives you a little benchmark for what you need.
