Irony is, that is the first thing I noticed. I don't console and haven't gamed in who knows how long, so I am ignorant of what Sony, Nintendo, etc. produce.

I am watching this closely as well. I have one drive on the 3gb/s ports and it has taken to simply disappearing in the midst of significant write activity.

I used the big-button auto overclock feature in AI tools and it would ramp up to 1.41 v or so, when at peak Ghz.
I lapped the hsf and ihs with some 2000 and 2500 and got temps down to a point where I am comfortable letting the OCCT run and after two hours, my peak temp was 71c.

I see you are sporting the D14 in your rig, so thanks for coming in to offer your thoughts! I am thinking seriously about at least adding a third fan and maybe replacing all three of them.
Tonight, I am going to lap the IHS and the D14 with (steps leading up to) 1800 grit, just to see what...
Thanks for the link. I realize now how much information I left out. i.e. ambient temp, voltage, bclck and multiplier
I'll have to come back and add that a bit later.

I just need a gut-check. The last time I messed with OCing, I was doing peltiers and water-blocks. So, after being out of the OC game for at least 8 years, I decided to plunk down some $$ on a sandy bridge and wanted exceptional cooling, so I bought a Noctua D14.
Under full load with HT...
I've been focusing on other areas with my $$ so I am in a similar boat; very happy to have a pc, but it is a celeron 450 @ 2.2 ghz (two years running) and I am due for an upgrade!

The P260 was by far my favorite monitor. I transitioned to LCD panels, because the thing set of so much heat and had ruined a couple of el-cheapo desks (weight).
The cable is DVI-I, which includes analog (DVI-A) and digital (DVI-D) pinouts, but you need to make sure that the DVI on your video...
I tried that at my local Micro Center and the CPU desk clerk told me I should check back around the 5th; "they shouldn't be available for retail until the 9th, so we won't advertise until then, but as soon as CES opens, I imagine that we'll be able to sell one here or there wiithout raising too...
By all accounts, I will see an increase in 15% clock for clock, vs. the next available alternative. It was an easy decision ... even though it means waiting a couple of more weeks.

Um, maybe I'm being a pointy-headed geek, but wouldn't that put it in fifth place?
The Dark Knight ($158m)
Spider-Man 3 ($151m)
Twilight Saga: New Moon($142m)
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest ($135m)
Iron Man 2 ($133m)

The legacy system has finally had the plug pulled. Technology so obscure an obsolete, it isn't even mentioned on Wikipedia. The entire (legacy) operation was running on System Concepts SC-30 mainframes. They could have let the system run forever, but it was so darned expensive to operate and...
Donate it back to [H]ard|OCP so Kyle & Steve could setup a raffle, maybe an auction where the proceeds would benefit an armed service member; it is Veterans day (week), after all. :)

Most of the folks who are adding on less expensive coolers, are opting for what seems to be a slot-type cooler that clips on to the exhaust port on the right side of the XT5000t.

I understand; temps and battery are important, too.
I'm just dumbfounded that the parts have been announced and appear to be available in some laptops, but you can't get OEM or retail CPU kits, anywhere.
It's not entirely clear to me if one can overclock the cpu in this laptop. Obviously there is nothing in the BIOS to facilitate overclocking, but utilities are being mentioned, but it appears that they may not always work as expected.
I haven't had an opportunity to question this approach, until now.
Aren't the access times of most USB devices much, much slower than the average 5400 rpm hard disk?
If this is the case, wouldn't using USB as a supplement make the machine slower than simply increasing the swap file?
It's hard to say what is going on here; but I am not alone. A fellow over in the everex support forum for this laptop has 2 x 2gb chips (different mfg) and it shows up as 3gb for him, too ... at least that is the way I am reading his thread.
The crucial ram arrived, went right in and works great. Although, I think that there is some architectural windows 32-bit reason that the OS (system -> properties) only shows 3.00 GB of ram.
Under Mainboard -> Memory, SiSoft shows 3gb ddr2-sdram
Under Chipset 1, SiSoft shows 4gb of ddr2 memory...
I worry about this, because the web site lists them (possible error) as 128 x 8 which is 1gb stick. The spec sheet for the part number (T667SB2G_M) on the supertalent web site correctly lists it as 256 x 8 which is 2gb.
So, if you order from ewiz, would you receive the part number (which is a...
I ordered Crucial Part Number http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.aspx?imodule=CT25664AC667
I froogle'd the part number and PriceGuideNetwork had the lowest price.
I have never ordered from this vendor and I have NOT received the package yet. Once I received the memory and verified that...
I was eyeballing that last night. I have 4gb of ram on the way and a 7200 rpm drive ... the cpu is all that is left.
I am wondering when and how much the TL-64 (2.2 Ghz) is going to go for ... it is also supposed to be a 35 watt chip, which should allow it to drop right in.
I ordered 2x 2gb sticks of Crucial SODIMMs for $295 shipped. ~ $150 for a 2gb chip is a pretty good deal, but I didn't want to post until I knew if they worked.
They are scheduled to arrive, later today.
Is this through Everex or just buying the TL60 online?
... and it should be quite a noticable jump in performance. L2 cache is doubled (compared to what came with the XT5000Ts TL50).
I think that the default VISTA load from Everex contains the utility intended to work with VISTA. I had installed XP, which is why I was looking for supplementary relief.
Are you still using VISTA or have you migrated to XP. If XP, where in "computer properties" do you see 1.6?
