Dang Rage. I remember when you started the build of the first server (page 1). Except I followed that build on that other forum (Ph... you know).
Can't wait to see the new build finished.
Lego's are great insulators - they're plastic and hollow, so they won't conduct heat at all.
You'll have to put some case fans in your design, but if you do that right, I don't think you'll have any cooling problems. Just engineer the airflow well.
Theoretically, you could have your web server check the client header in the HTTP request, and only allow the flash player access based on that - but any decent power user will be able to spoof an HTTP header with minimal effort. I can't think of a good way to encrypt the XML file and then have...
So, my uncle posed an interesting question to me today, which had me completely puzzled. I had never thought of how multi-processor systems work at the electrical level - how they get data from the bus and put it back onto the bus.
Basically, how does each core know when to pick up data from...
And aluminum conducts heat faster, right? I was under the impression that since the aluminum plate is for transferring heat, not dissipating it, so you would be more worried about conductivity than specific heat.
Why don't you just go read the meter that's on the back of your house every day? You're basically asking for the same data the power company uses to bill you, and that's how they do it.
QFT. I don't really like it. Lian-Li was one of the last companies with completely clean case designs.
Give us the old school ATC designed CM cases. Not even the new Silverstone stuff holds up to that.
I'm in need of a black floppy cable (to split into 10-pin segments for things like internal USB, serial, etc) and I couldn't find any lying around. Does anyone have one? I think Asus and Abit package them with motherboards. (Please note that I am not looking for a rounded cable. Just a nice...
Only if your browser and/or OS isn't caching dns results. They'll both point to the same server after going through DNS, but if the DNS server isn't configured just right it will take a little longer for the query for http://hardforum.com to resolve.
Yep, antifreeze for cars. GM's DexCool stuff is red or orange (can't remember which), normal off brand stuff is green, and VW / Audi / Porsche stuff is blue (G11) or red (G12).
You can also look around at places like Performance-PCs and FrozenCPU to find coolant mixes designed for PCs.
If you can find any blue antifreeze, you can use that - but don't mix it in a 50/50 concentration! 10% antifreeze to 90% water is the highest you should use.
I think it's a piece of crap.
And as for the "have-nots" being the only ones that don't like it, well...
I own an ATC-110. I don't think that classifies me as a "have-not."
You can get blue antifreeze from Petra's [ http://www.petrastechshop.com ] in small amounts, or drop by your local VW / Audi / Porsche dealer and ask them. You're looking for Pentosin G11 antifreeze. Works great in a 5% or 10% concentration.
I would definitely use it, but in my experience people here know more about mainstream stuff because they're all gamers. If we could get enough people interested, it would be awesome.
They're great drives too - I picked up a 2gb for $20 at Staples a few weeks ago. They come with a portable apps system so you can take your programs (and settings) with you. Quite handy.
I'm looking for an MSI K7N2 Delta2 Platinum (the black one) and an AGP 6800 Ultra.
A corsair 520 or 620 PSU would be nice too, if anyone has a good deal on one.
Willing to pay $50 for the motherboard, and entertaining offers around $75 for the 6800. PM me with what you've got :)
Heat...
