The board I currently have is a bit flakey and it'd be nice if I could find a "drop in" replacement but no one seems to sell it anymore :(. Part of the issue is that I have the nvidia raid setup and hope hope hope I can just plug the drives into a same chipset board and go.

Never mind, it was one of those stupid connectors you have to angle in just right. *sigh* Been one of those days. The latch wouldn't latch on the knob bit of the connector, and it wouldn't stay in well enough to leave it unlatched.

I've had similar issues with my balistix, but then my mobo is pretty notorious for being picky with ram (asus p5n32-e sli plus).

WTF?!??!?! I downgraded to the 801 bios yesterday. After reboot there was nothing. The system sounded like it would just reset after a minute. After a lot of mucking around, clearing the bios etc it booted up. And it worked. To top it off, it runs better now?!?!?? I can put it in standby...

I was doing some more poking about today at work (god I hate slow downs) and supposedly the updated bios fixes the resume problem.... but I have the updated bios. On the upshot I did finaly figure out where the freaking hell the front panel audio connectors are.

The meter reported 4.44v on the 5v line. Then I replaced the battery and got the 4.54v. I booted from a complete shutdown and let it run for a while and it stayed at 4.54.

Hooked up the multimeter today, and as far as I can tell power is ok. 12.03v and 4.54v stable. Lowest I got was 4.44, and the 12v line spiked at 12.81 but I think that was because the multimeter's battery needed to be replaced. Still not sure what the problem is.

Hrmmmm...... MBM is saying 4.61 and 12.13. So that may be the issue. Still odd that only the Seagate has problems though. I'll have to check with the mulitmeter when I'm not working or doing christmas stuff.

I've made a few other posts about my problems with my seagate drives before, but for a quick n' dirty refresher they power cycle in a certain temperature range. Typicaly 60-72F. Over 73F and the drive will never have an issue all day long. I got a replacement from seagate earlier this month...

Bought a seagate 200gb barracuda 7200.7 plus a while back and it's had issues ever since. When I do a cold boot or a resume the stupid thing does a power cycle, sometimes several power cycles. Once it gets with the program it'll run all day without complaint. Right now I have it on it's own...

Repeat after me: I make regular backups... Your drive most likely is dying, run the diags and hopefully you can get the advanced RMA. Not sure if they'll give you another 120 or not. Also, my 120g wd is having problems too..... wonder if there's lingering issues...

I replaced the old cable with the one from the seagate retail package. The reason I was also having problems with the seagate was the damned stupid PIO mode. Near as I can tell the seagate is fine and dandy. The WD passes all the Lifeguard tests, and even scandisk now, after the chkdsk...

Just got me a nice shiny 200gb seagate drive, my "issue" is that windows only sees 128gb. This seems a little low to me, my 120g drive has 111.7g usuable. According to my caculations I lose 72gb on my new drive! Is this just windows being stupid or did I miss something important?

Is it just me or do DVD+RW's not verifiy with nero? The same data on a DVD+R verifies just fine, yet I get back blocks on RW.
