Seems as though the 470 outperforms both the 5870 an 6870 by a slim margin and can be had for $229 after MIR. Will a 650 watter power that thing though?

I've essentially gone with this (except swapping the DVD drive for BR) although I'm still undecided on the video card. My list is down to the Radeon 5870 and 6870 or the Geforce 470. Which is my best bet with this combination of components, and does the Corsair PSU have the juice to run all of them?

I've been comparing the 470 and the 6870 and it seems the 470 is a little faster, but uses up a lot more juice. Can a 650W unit power it or will it require more?

Been on the Mac side for a few years and planning a budget PC build solely for the purpose of gaming. The case is old and beat up so I'm not that opposed to cutting a hole in it somewhere and mounting a big fan or two. I know in the past the whole dual channel thing was a big deal. Is a single 4GB stick a better route than 2x2, or just cheaper? Any negligible difference in performance?

Does a PC-75 sound right? Huge full tower ATX case. I don't have it here with me and from what I can tell they don't make it anymore, but I think that's right. Edit: yes it's all 80mm fans. Which I hope to ditch a few of them with a cooler running setup, relative to what was in there before.

Anyone know what the default color mode setting is on this LCD? I noticed it was set on MAC mode which is a good bit brighter and less contrasty than PC mode. If the default is PC then it somehow got changed.

Upping the gamma only makes it worse. Colors are flatter and the blacks (errr grays) are even lighter. Oh, and ATI CCC didn't do it...I noticed it during the Vista install, before I ever even got to the point of installing the video card driver.

In the ATI CCC the gamma for all channels is 1.00. Is that right? I honestly never looked at it before.

The memory is 2.1v for 800mhz and it always ran fine there. I'm not saying you're wrong about the vcore, but I don't understand why it would suddenly take so much more voltage than before to achieve the same or less overclock. The Rev1 DS3 only needed 1.35v for 3200.

I'm at 1.35v right now at 8x333. Last time it ran over 3ghz it was, I believe 1.38v, but as mentioned, it went AWOL there after a while. It was even crashing when I left it at 1.38v and backed down to 2.6-2.7ghz.
