In the annals of history there comes a time at which every company out there must be defined by the success of it products. In the annals of ATi the R300 was a watershed moment. With the release of the Radeon Fury, this is the watershed moment. The moment when the turbulent forces of disparate...
Great drivers with Win 8.1 Did not experience any stuttering for the first time with CFX 7950s. Very smooth gameplay. Granted it's only with one game - GRID2, but at ultra levels, 4xMSAA, and 1440p.
Just got this yesterday, and was able to check my firmware version on the service screen: it reads firmware ver. 1.17. Did not see a rev number on the back, but I'll look again to see if I missed it. Overall, much better than even the LG IPS 23" it replaces.
I see now it is Rev 00. Should I be...
Bought a 570, saw the 2d image quality and was not impressed. took it back and got a 6950. Maybe it is just me, but I could tell a difference. the 6950 was just simply better - better focus on fonts.
Don't know about Asus, but the Gigabyte 7950 is quite good and cool too with three fans keeping it cool. I have been able to oc the card to 1200/1575 on 1.25v but decided to scale back to 1050/1575 on standard v. My only problem is it refuses to come out of sleep mode once in a while, and I have...
TN panel quality depends on manufacturer and price range too. I got into the "IPS" is always better mode of thought and purchased the LG IPS236. Not satisfied and really wanting a 26in 16:10 affordable but good panel, I gave in and purchased the NEC EA261wm (TN panel) and compared to the LG IPS...
if you want to know, I run mine (Sapphire) at 900/1375. I run the fan at 40% using Sapphire Trixx. I used to hit mid 80s, but with the fan at 40% now, low 60s max.
One reason i regret buying the LG IPS263- on a black screen it has a reddish glow on bottom left and whitish glow on bottom right. But keeping it as back up anyway.
Have you considered the NEC Multisync EA261WM? It's a bit over budget but nothing else touches it for a 26 inch TN monitor. Swivel, tilt, height, and screen rotation. High contrast and deep blacks (after calibration). Its a bit old I know, but no other monitor has made me say wow.
Hardly any dithering on this monitor. I've looked at smooth gradients from LCD test sites and I can't see any dithering. It is better than the Samsung PX2370. What I don't like is the AG coating; I use it at work, I don't want to see it at home. Thought I could live with it, but just can't. Its...
I actually have the exact same problem where it starts and shuts down and starts again and no video. I simply hold down the power button to force a shutoff, wait for 5 secs, then hit the power button again to restart and it works. I thinks it's a bios rev issue. Only happens when I shut down the...
Anyone remember the engine used for Severance: Blade of Darkness? For its time, it had the most realistic and mood setting lighting and shadows seen in a game....everything cast a shadow. Throw a stool and all four legs cast shadows as it moved. Took a herculean PC to run it at max settings...
One thing I've noticed on the Lagom lcd black level test page is that there is a lot of dithering with grays in this monitor. Ugly. You can actually see the pixels flicker back and forth. My older monitor (Acer x263w) does not do this. Do you notice this to?
Thanks, Aldamon. I'll give that a try if I find my cooler to be ineffective. I have run the chip @ 4.8Ghz, 1.4-1.45v (CPU-Z), and used wPrime to test all 8 cores at 100% load. Temps got up to 82c on the hottest core. Room is warm enough to take shirt off and not feel cold, so I assume ~75f.
There is no guarantee that the replacement board will operate as well as the one that is being replaced in a similarly overclocked environment, hence the reluctance to swap so soon. On the other hand, I assume that the option to replace will always be available in case something happens. For...
How do you get your TRUE mounted on your MB? do you use an adapter? I'd like to see if my TRUE is more efficient at high loads than the CM Hyper 212+ I now use.
Great looking case. Would like to have one and add highlights on the HD enclosures (Ferrari Red for the top HD SSD slot). Edit: Looks like the HD cages do get direct fan cooling...great!
Well not that exactly I must confess, just the CL8 version. Alright I'll see if it will overclock higher.
Edit: I was able to OC the mem to 1866 @ 9-9-9-24-1T. Sandra - 24.76GB/s (an improvement of > 3.5GB/s)
Do not be afraid of trying 1204 Bios. It made my 4.8Ghz oc very stable. Pc would not boot @ 4.8 with prior Bios. I'm now sure I can reach 5ghz if I wanted to.
It's interesting that we would tolerate a cold room just for cool temps. Yesterdecade, we would just plop in the chip with standard cooler and never give cooling a second thought.
Chip @ 4.8Ghz yields 80/81c across 3 cores and low 70s on fourth core. This is with wPrime - 8 threads - 1024. Gaming load temps are high 61c (highest recorded) with DIRT 2 running.
Idle temps are ~ 33,33,33, 27 (the fourth core is a mystery, so cold)
Coretemp used, ambient temps are prob...
So what I understand from the above Anandtech statement is you may get SATA errors and eventual port failure if: 1) You constantly move around a very large amount of data, DVD archiving, for example; 2) Your ambient temps, while moving said data, are too hot for comfort; and 3) an excessive...
I'm not sure I would take a refurbished board. I wouldn't mind paying a little extra with a full refund (with deep discounts for us affected users) for a Z68 board. As of this moment my overclocking potential is worth more to me than hard drive performance issues which I can easily fix with a...
Follow this thread and see if the fix (from Microsoft) posted by Asus Tech guy Gary is able to help: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1578865&page=20
Currently running at 4.4Ghz (down from 4.7) with Corsair XMS3 @ 1600MHz -8-8-8-24-1t. MB puts ram voltage at 1.65v, should I be worried? No blue screens or errors. Yet.
I tried the push/pull method on my CM Hyper 212+ . Only 1-2 degree difference, but noise levels went up. Currently oc'ed to 4.74Ghz (103*46) and idle temps with speedstep enabled are 36c using CPUID HW monitor.
Frankly, I'd rather be using my TRUE 120, and was almost able to with the CM...
