Looks doesn't matter much to me. I'm fine with it's look. I'm just wondering if it'll be reliable for a year or so. I'll probably get bored of it in a few months and sell it and buy something new anyways. I've only had the I8200 for 3 weeks.
I'd rather not spend more than that amount. Trying to save some money here. My options were either a SFF or mid to low end desktop PC or an inexpeneive laptop. The tiny mouse buttons won't be a problem with me as I have a microsoft notebook mouse I will use. I can probably ebar with the temp.
I'm looking to replace my Dell Inspiron 8200 with a Vpr Matrix 180B5. I was wondering if the 180B5 is a reliable laptop? And is the performance good?
Here's what I'm going from:
Dell Inspiron 8200 1.8GHz P4-M, 256MB PC2100, 40GB 5400RPM, 24X DVD/CD-RW, Floppy, 32MB GF4 MX440, 15" UXGA...
I've got the Inspiron 8200. It ALMOST finished a 102 min DVD with one 65 Whr battery. It stopped like less than ten minutes before the credits. Not sure if the bettery is just wearing out or not.
I have that Microsoft notebook mouse. I got it for free from that online survey that was posed in hot deals. It's pretty nice except the feel of the mouse isn't that nice.
Crucial should work fine. My Inspiron 8200 came with Nanya PC2100.

Dell has quite a few Inspiron 1100's in your price range in their outlet. Go to the link and sort it by price.

If the audio on my Inspiron 8200 doesn't hold up too well then I might be in the market for a pretty cheap external usb sound card. I really only need 2.1. What does it compare to in the SoundBlaster family (i.e. Live! Audigy, Audigy2)?
Thanks
I had 32MB shared video memory on my desktop. I was also wondering if I was able to upgrade the processor at a later time or upgrade the video card? If so, where would I be able to get the mobile P4 and laptop video card from?

That's some sweet painting there. I'm getting the exact same laptop except with less ram. I might have to spray mine too. I like the two tone green/white.
Thanks. The freaken sales tax here in Seattle is 8.8% so that $100 off pretty much takes care of that. Wonder if Portland has an Apple store, they don't have sales tax ;)
256MB is acutally fine with XP unless you've got so many apps running in your tray and so many services running. A fresh boot uses roughly 90MB for me and while web surfing and word processing and chatting and listening to mp3s at the same time I've never gone above 200MB and it still ran...
I'd love an iBook G4, the 12.1" or 14.1" are only about $1100 on apple.com. Sadly I'm $300 short and I'm not too familiar with macs yet so I don't really want to spend so much money on one.
Where woudl I be able to get an iBook G3 for a decent price? And is the G4 a lot better?
And compare it to my desktop specs, would I notice a very big performance decrease?

I can get this for $815 with only 256MB of ram or $880 with the whole 640MB from a guy I know. Is this a good deal? Is the video any good? What can I upgrade? Thanks
I guess I'll just go and take a look in the store tomorrow. I'd really want to buy it from a store than online. There is an apple store at a mall near my place. I might go this weekend.
So I'm selling off my PC to my older sister and I've got options. It's either PC laptop or iBook or eMac. I'm sort of limited in funds and was wondering what are decent specs for a mac? I was looking at this eMac: http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=308532&pfp=BROWSE...
