I have an odd request that I need some insight on. My neighbor has a pool heater that produces a 50-75hz low rumble when operating. It's able to travel through my exterior walls into my house. I talked with my neighbor and he's open to me designing a privacy wall around it and helping him build...
I have a bunch of video cards from mining. I’m downsizing now but wanted to know which to keep as I’ll throw a few in case and let them rip on DC projects. All are nvidia 3070 and up.
Time to update my monitor setup (my least favorite thing due to panel lottery). I'm currently rocking two 24" dell ultrasharps (1080p). They're from 2009, so they've had a good life. I mainly due some office work, movie watching and would like to game more but I'm not hardcore. I'd like it to...
EVGA SR-2 /w two Xeon X5650s. Overclocked to 3.6ghz each prime95 stable (edit: this is no means the max, blclk of 180, most 1366 can go to 200). Good setup and board. Doesn't seem to play nice with multiple AMD cards (though I did get it working, had to enable NUMA and do a dance), nvidia cards...
Ok Ive seen this a few times and it's a little frustrating. Sellers, if your going to require a signature on delivery at least let the buyer know you're going to do this before you ship.
Personally it's not a huge deal if you require a signature as I can just have it sent to my work instead...
This stand allows for you to run your cards vertical. See pictures. More then one is available. Can be made to fit micro ATX, ATX and EATX. Asking $35 shipped as this involves wood, time and shipping costs (e.g. price the wood out alone at home depot, this is definitely worth it).

Wanted to get into dual CPU setups but I'm realizing I don't have the time. Would like to move these together but will price them as a combo and separate. L5639s are a hexcore chip with hyper threading. On this board they're at 3ghz (OC'd) and could probably be pushing a little bit more.

Got it up and folding this weekend. After overclocking to 3.1ghz (dual L5639 chips). The results have been disappointing....
First problem! According to HWMonitor CPU0 is running at 68C while CPU1 is running at 43C. The fuck? I think it's more of HWMonitor bullshitting me. CPU1 seems wwwaayyy...
Can someone point me at the right memory to buy for this beast? Picked up 2 L5639s cheap and got the board on sale at newegg. I'm looking for a good balance of speed and price (e.g. I don't want the slowest/cheapest but i don't want the fastest/most expensive).
I've been running into an interesting problem and I have no clue how to fix it. Files on my RAID 6 array are missing. The file name is still there but the file shows up as 0 kilobytes. Additionally some of my mp3s on the array are getting distorted and are also losing their data (e.g. distorted...

I have a 9260-8i for over a year now with 8x samsung 2TB drives in RAID6. Yesterday all the sudden I noticed very slow read speeds. For the past year I've been getting read speeds of 100MB/s+ but now they've dropped to 40MB/s or slower. I updated the firmware but still the problem persists...
Just got two of these samsungs in the mail (HD204UI) from a forum member. Both came a warning, attribute C7 Ultra DMA CRC Error Count has one event but one of the hard drives failed the spin up test and HD Tune is saying it's a bad drive. The thing is the value doesn't look bad and is actually a...
Looking for original samsung 2tb drives. Let me know how much warranty is left and about the number of hours on the drives (can find easily using HDTune). Thanks!
So I go ahead and order a new Ivy Bridge Xeon as my current motherboard, P8B WS, has a BIOS update to support these chips. Chip comes in yesterday along with ECC RAM and I was about to do the update when I stumbled across this thread...
Just a general question, will idle power go up at all? The computer is my primary storage server and spends most of it's time idle. I would like to upgrade the cpu to support ECC memory and do more video trans coding on the fly. Peak power usage doesn't both me but will I see a significant jump...
Any thoughts? Using the latest drivers and it will EUE out after 4 or 5 work units. Temperatures do not go above 75 C. Windows 7 and no overclocking. I tried to increase the voltage a tiny bit but to no effect. Is the card just tired of folding?
Just received this in the mail from Western Digital to replace a hard drive under warranty. It looks like the PCB is rusted. It's date November 8 2011.
I feel like I'll send it back.
Does this switch really block wireless signals from a router like the reviews say?

I'm unsure if the controller is allowing the drives to spin down when not in use. There does not seem to be an option for this in the software or the controller BIOS. See screenshot. Is there something I need to set?
CRAP! I loved samsung disks, I have about 10 at home. They were fast, reliable and cheap. Now that seagate bought them I might have to go back to WD. Also there are now only two major players in the hard drive business (Toshiba doesn't really count). What a year! First Hitachi now Samsung. These...
