Nope, crazy slick without it. Don't think I'd want it any slicker, but if it does start to slow down through use / dirt, I'll spray it with some Armor All (that worked better than Pledge on my old 3M Precise Mousing Surface)
Although curiously, I think I may end up bumping up the sensitivity...
And it just showed up. This thing is crazy slick. Slickest pad I'd ever used before was 3M Precision Mousing Surface with an Armor-All spray. This is way slicker.
Fresh OS, yes. I've tried to update the BIOS and have run into problems -- the Windows utility can either point to a local file or get the updated BIOS from the internet. I've tried both ways and it looks like it programs it successfully either way (and the version it is allegedly programming...
Ran it and got 524, with 99% cpu usage in Task Manager. I don't know what that proves per se, as I guess a broken core could still be working as hard as it can even if it's 'damaged' or w/e
I think one of the cores on my 4670k might be bad. I don't know if that's even possible -- it seems like a cpu would either work or not -- but this is why I think it might be the case.
So, I bought a Haswell + new motherboard and installed it, everything seemed to work fine. Before...
Use Rivatuner. It'll still only allow certain increments, but they tend to be pretty fine-grained (steps of 2-3 mhz).
I run with the side panel off, so it's not a concern for me in all honesty.
I haven't run into anything like that. The games I've played are Mass Effect, Fallout 3, L4D, and various versions of 3d mark. The only thing I've noticed is a very slight 'squealing' for brief periods in 3d mark 06, and it's pretty quiet compared to my case fans.
I have it running stable for hours at 745 core, 1575 shaders, 1200 memory. Each card is different though - start yours off lower and slowly move up.
It's fairly accurate -- the card is in my case and the drive bay keeps me from laying the ruler down flat across the top of it. Just measured it...
I preordered it and installed yesterday. It's hard to say it's even a game. There are no difficulty levels. You can not change resolutions. You get a bunch of tanks and soldiers and go where the arrow tells you. Your army kills aliens. You get money and can click the reinforcements button to...
I tried Ambient Occlusion and my conclusion is it's not worth it. It did have a pretty big impact on framerate and I couldn't notice a difference unless I specifically looked for it and compared it directly to the same scene without Ambient Occlusion. I'd much rather bump the AA or AF up a...
Use Rivatuner. This is a basic guide, the version is different and there are three sliders on the overclocking page instead of 2 as shown
http://www.overclock.net/faqs/99500-how-overclocking-my-nvidia-video-card.html
The three you'd have would be Core, Shaders, and Memory. Also, I ran into...
I bought that card and posted a short review here: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1414960
You can underclock it via RivaTuner if you wanted, but as long as you don't click the button to keep those settings at startup, everytime you restart the computer it will go back to default...
I have two monitors so both are still plugged in, I just switched the ports they were connected to. Both are working fine now. I had tried reseating the cable first, but still had the problem. But plugging monitor 2 into the port monitor 1 had been plugged into (and vice versa) fixed it for...
I'm using those drivers but in the reviews I've read for the 275, it says you get a 20-50% performance hit so I haven't tried it yet. I suppose it can't impact Mass Effect too much as that's an older game. I'll update tonight after I've had a chance to use it with framerate info and whether...
Figured some might be interested in a brief review of this card since it has a custom cooling solution that is supposed to be better than the stock cooler.
http://us.msi.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=N275GTX_Twin_Frozr_OC&class=vga (nice Engrish on this page ;) )
Got the card yesterday. The...
Tried both 59 and 60 hz, no change. I'll try swapping the monitors around on the card, at least that will narrow it down if it's the monitor/cable, or the card.
Bizarre problem with my display. Just installed a new video card yesterday (GTX 275, upgraded from 8800GTS) and everything worked perfectly. Gamed on it for several hours, no problems at all. Go to turn on the computer today, and the primary display (Dell 2707) comes up in VGA resolution...
My MSI Twin Frozr GTX 275 just came in today
http://us.msi.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=N275GTX_Twin_Frozr_OC&class=vga
It is dead silent in Windows, and quiet most of the times in games (fans spin up on elevators in Mass Effect, of all places). The fans do get crazy loud over 60%, and...
http://us.msi.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=N260GTX-T2D896_OC_V3&class=vga is the version with the special cooling system -- heat pipes, twin fans, etc. I just ordered this version of the 275 -- cooling is supposed to be very good and very quiet from what I've been reading, and it is capable of...
Good info, thanks. I have a good friend who is Romanian and I've been meaning to visit her for awhile, so I won't be trying to cope with the culture solo. I also have some french, and from what I understand a fairly large percentage of Romanians speak either english or french, so I should be...
Prices were still valid today. Airline prices are impossible to predict though, especially when they are just bargain regular rates (as they seem to be here) and not a specific deal that might tell you when it will end. I'd say book as soon as you can to make sure you don't miss out.
After...
I'm wondering about the power supply. I'm assuming it's kept in that upper box, which means you'd need really long cabling to reach everything. I wonder if it comes with a custom power supply (I assume it does) and how powerful it will be. A custom power supply is really going to add to the...
