Mine just failed too, lasted less than six months. These are junk, stay away from them. Not even bothering with an RMA would never trust putting this thing back in. Went with a Noctua NH-U14S TR4-SP3 instead.
I just had the EXACT same thing happen and I also went with the MSI X399 Gaming Pro Carbon as a replacement. The MSI came right up and has been flawless.
this was my experience as well. got the new ram and same thing. I could boot into windows for 30 sec on 4.7ght @ 1.35 and windows stable 4.6ghz at 1.30 but prime will bluescreen after 15-30 min :( I just cant justify more than 4.5 with the voltage that high
did you try 4.6 core with the same settings? curious what would change for you
My ram should be here by thursday (ram in sig) so i can get back to pushing this thing :)
I am interested in the simplicity of the layout. I can use this to build my 9 year old daughters first computer with her and it would be really easy to get her started on overclocking as well. And the Quick Notes along with customizable shortcuts would make for a great learning experience.
Only changed the settings listed. I was originally trying to start out at 4.6 and that's why I had it so high. Since staying at 4.5 till the ram gets here, decided to back off the volts and see how low I could get it
Ok update on settings :
Core 45x
CPU Ratio Mode : Dynamic ( this is what enables the cpu to clock down when not needed)
Enhanced Turbo : Enabled ( saw no difference in clocks when disabled so not sure what this does)
Core voltage : 1.225 core voltage (down from 1.285)
Core voltage cpu mode ...
Lets get some more info going here. Whats everyone's current setup?
lets use the following template :
Any Bios Settings Changed from default :
Core 45x
1.285 core voltage - overide
Ram using XMP at 1600
Load temp (prime 95 seems the best) ~70c
Running Windows 8 pro
tried 4.6ghz and will...
I updated my BIOS without issue. And mine clocks up and down, still trying to figure out why if its set to 4.5ghz in the bios it only throttles up to 4.4ghz under Prime 95 load ...
I'm at work, but pretty sure it was CPU Ratio Mode.
Mine is running fine at 4.5ghz with 1.285 volt but when i enable dynamic mode in CPU Ratio Mode, under Prime 95 cpu only gets up to 4.4ghz
keep in ind that they don't support Winxp on that machine. Check thier driver downloads, they only list vista. I have the studio xps 13 and was trying the same thing. You can make it work but it isn't perfect. Honestly I just stuck with 64 bit vista to take full advantage of the 4 gigs of ram...
get the blackberry and sell it and the ipod touch. should clear EASY 550.00 for both. With the cash from it and the 250.00 you already have get your self an iPhone 3g. The go for 350.00 - 400.00 brand new without a contract. or 200.00 - 300.00 used on eBay but in excelent condition and still...
Well it's not that big a deal BUT it is also VERY convienient to be able to just plug in headphones and have it switch automaticaly. The Xonar DX I have you have to manualy switch as well. I actualy went back to the Realtech onboard sound though cause on my klipsch 2.1 pro media I cannot tell...
not to thread jack but does the HT Omega Claro front jack mute the rear speakers automaticaly when plugged in? I have a xonar and it does not. Thinking of getting the HT Omega Claro if it auto switches correctly.
ok got the northbridge fan added on there. multiplier only goes to 2.5, I don't have a 2. goes 2.5, 3, 3.5 etc up. and for the ram, 5-5-5-15 is looser than 5-5-5-18? I thought smaller was tighter? been a long time since I did this and its totaly possible i have things backwards :P
ok now at 1.5 and running prime...
blue screened :( the highest temp core right before was 61c Thats a little too hot for my tastes as well as I wanted to stay around 1.4v vcore so I am leaning towards leaving it at 3 ghz for now unless someone has a sugestion on something I overlooked (i'm...
just wanted to add that with the new ram being only 2 sticks and rated for 1066, they are not running ovr clocked so I don't think the mch or dimms are an issue. I get a little more stability with higher voltages on the vcore. took it to 1.475v and I get to windows fine but then I get errors in...
no :( it blue screened on me. I'm running back at 3.0ghz stable with :
9x multiplier
333fsb
3x system memory multiplier
pci express Frequency 102 mhz
vcore is at 1.425
cpu temps highest one is 55c and lowest 51c
This runs stable for over an hour no problems. Now if I run :
9x...
alight got th ram installed and I am now up to 3.2ghz (8x400) I get a blue screen when running Prime 95 and I cannot even boot at 3.4 ghz :( 8x425) I followed the gigabyte overclocking guide referenced by Danny Bui and I have my new OCZ ram settings in with the ddr voltage at 2.1 and all my...
Thanks for the replys. you guys are encouraging me cause once I get my ram I can lower the multiplier to 8 and raise the fsb 425 (from 9x33) and know its not the ram holding me back. I don't mind running at 1.5v as that is at intel spec but I am worried about anything over that.
wheazy : what...
Like the title says, aiming for a 1 ghz oc on a q6600 :D. I want to do this on air cooling, system is in sig. I'm just having a little trouble cause this is my first OC attempt on a gigabyte board and the settings are a little strange to me.( always used asus before this) I am at 3 ghz right...
