Marketplace on NPR this evening reported that Halo2 made $100,000,000 in its first 24 hours of sales. Wow - about 2 million copies. Movies wish they had opening days like that.
FWIW - The purpose of this post wasn't to get into the legalilties of modded xboxen, but to warn those that do have a modded box, and have been happily able to use XBL, that they could now get their asses handed to them by Microsoft for violating their TOS.
My Xbox is modded. I dont use XBL...
Are you really a girl or are you Jack screwing with me with his research again? How can we know what to believe??
BTW - IRL I am married, mid 30's, Australian, living in the USA, moved from one OC to another (SoCal to NC (Go Heels!)) ... or I could be lying ;)
From the perspective of being "fair" to other online gamers - I agree with Microsoft banning modded Xboxen because they have the CAPABILITY to cheat. But, as said by Tazman2, all services are paid for by the consumer - so why shouldn't they be allowed to play?
Microsoft never say they don't...
The number of games does not make one a better platform than the other ...
The questions is - which games do you like playing? Check out the titles.
I am new to console gaming - well owning a console anyway. I recently bought an Xbox - why? Project Gotham Racing 2, Rallisport Challenge 2...
Sorry - been on that forum for awhile and thought you could browse without registering ...
Upgraded hard drives were locked. Mod chips disabled.
and for Tiny ...
Having a mod chip does not break the law. It DOES violate the warrantee, but is not illegal. In fact law suits on this issue...
I started a thread to highlight the risk of using a modded xbox on XBL. Important for people to know before they get banned ... and it was being lost at the bottom of this thread.
Just a warning guys there are reports coming in that there was an update to the XBL service yesterday, and "they" are now detecting modded XBoxen and banning people.
Previously, just turning off the modchip was enough, but now, unless the original drvie is also detected, there are a lot of...
I can see where starhawk is going here ... (and how do you know that I am not starhawk ... and when he comes in and denies that I am him, how will you know if I am lying or not?)
Cook_1 ... all we know about you is that you live in MN, and joined the [H]ard|Forums in August 2004. Your...
Hmmm. It does come with a cellphone and prepaid plan ... but I can't see a handsfree kit or cup holder on the chopper ANYWHERE ...
I wonder if they'd chop my Vespa? 150cc of RAW ET4 power :)
Chapter 11 means nothing - its bankruptcy protection, not going out of business. Chapter 13 is what you want to watch out for ...
Coupon good. Hmmmm .... Black Angus sub ... drooooooool.
At this stage - everyone who wants a Gmail account pretty much has one, and if they don't you only have to sneeze and have 10 people offer you invites.
I have 6 free Google Desktop Downloads available if anyone wants them. First to reply with a free ipod gets them.
Because a domain name doesn't have a web site doesn't necessarily mean that it isn't in active use for email, or dns purposes. I have a webpage up as a placeholder - but my email address and machine redirection hangs off my domain name.
Having said that, I went for my domain name because the...
c:\>echo %COMPUTERNAME% > name.txt
More than one way to skin a cat :) ... a lot of this information is available as environment variables that can either be access programatically, or at a command prompt. Type "set" at the command prompt to see them all, and echo %variablename% to see an...
... only if it isn't prepped right. If you take a part into a chrome/plate shop and ask them to chrome it, thats what they'll do. Take it in and ask them to strip, blast, acid clean, then chrome, they'll do that (and charge you for the privilage). You get what you pay for. When you go to the...
As has been said - this is just background noise n the internet. Most worms work by scanning for open ports, and trying spoofing techniques on unsecured web servers/browsers. You will find that most of them are coming from either infected computers that are just trying to replicate themselves. A...
Remember: FIXED PRICE ONLY WORKS WITH A CLEARLY DEFINED SCOPE.
ow that that is out of the way, make sure you detail WHAT the $$$ charged at a fixed price will be, and then have a standard rate for deisgnb and development work that falls outside the scope of defined as part of the contract...
I love 24 - and watching every episode back to back is the best way to watch it.
No it doesn't take 24 hours, more like 18 :D (hey, we had some time on our hands last Thanksgiving :) )
Poor example - http://www.porsche.be/company/history/milestones/8090.htm
Porsche 959 wins the Paris Dakar rally in 1985.
Looking after an aluminium case is a pain. I have a couple of original shuttles with a brushed finish that show finger prints.
Clearcoating is drastic, clear film is...
I am not a lawyer, and will probably have some of this wrong so before you do ANYTHING, please consult a CPA.
1. "S" Corporation. A small business corporation - generally sole proprieter (single owner, no/minimal other employees). This is like a "Scott Snyder Consulting LLC" type of deal. 2...
If you are currently a consultant, there is nothing wrong with that appearing on your resume.
STRONGLY suggest you look into the S-corp deal though. It gives you a level of legal protection, and will allow you to legitaimately work for multiple employers as a consultant - and might earn you...
I am generally the same, but in this case, it sounds like there is going to be one long cable running across the florr from point a to point b. If you can hide the cable (all mine run under the house, and have face plates in the wall) then hard wired is MUCH better (10/100/1000Mb vs...
From the Wittenberg University academic catalog:
Communication is the study of how people make meaning. At Wittenberg, the Department of Communication adopts a broad perspective on this topic by challenging students to examine the nature, processes, and effects of human symbolic interaction...
About a month ago, I was having a similar discussion with my wife. We are both in the tech sector - she is a professor in an informaiton sciecne school, and I am a software engineer/consultant.
I maintained that as we move from manufacturing to service to information societies, skill...
As was said - yes. A suspend operation takes a snaphot o your current memory, then shuts pretty much all your processes down, just monitoring the machine waiting for a keystroke or something to wake the box up.
What you might want to do is adjust your power setting to shut down the HDD after...
I have to ask this - What program/school are you enrolling in in Ohio?
Get whatever experience you can, take whatever the employer will pay you, but just be clear that you are going to Ohio for school in January.
You see, this just gets worse ... so you are not even thinking of staying around. You have tickets on yourself. I think the best your "employer" can do is have you stick around long enough to train a new Systems Admin person.
Work the hours you can between now and the end of the year, but...
Do whatever it takes to get back into school (I am sure there is a story there as well - and it wont look good on your resume ...).
If your job is maintaining the wifes iPod as part of your duties, you are not a Director of anything (perhaps music director?) ... you are a Network Admin, or...
I know :) ...
I once had an HR director at a company I worked for that said the progression through university was BS, MS, PhD ... bull shit, more shit, piled high and deep.
I stopped at the BS (Computer Science), my wife went on to two MS, and a PhD - and she worked in the real world...
Engineers make good architects, architects make lousy engineers .... doesn't matter if it is in the physical world, or the digital one.
Your choice of language is largely irrelevant, you should chooses the right tool for the job.
Personally, I have two language preferences - J2EE for...
Sorry - everyone here is slamming you. Nothing wrong with being a Network Admin.
NONE of the responsibilities that you have detailed even remotely come close to being what would be defined as roles and responsibilities of a Manager or Director.
If you are not happy with the title (not...
Look at the environment variables. There are a couple that will be of use to you ... USERNAME, USERDOMAIN, and more importantly USERPROFILE.
Knowing these are there allows you to run a command such as:
c:\>xcopy "%USERPROFILE%\Favorites" c:\backup\%USERNAME% /s /m /y /i
Add the /t option...
... and the noobs will continue to have virii, and the enlightened will be running a virus scanner, and a personal firewall.
This is the crux f the argument. If you can maintain a clean environment behind a local firewall, the usefulness of virus scanners and personal firewalls is diminished...
