    Samsung Galaxy S5 Watch Thread

I'm shocked at just how underwhelming the s5 really is. Stupid people will still buy it though. And there are a lot of stupid people in the world....

    Samsung Galaxy S5 Watch Thread

Wow, what a massive let-down this is :( A slightly bigger and uglier s4 :p At least I don't have any upgrade urges now :)

POLL - The "best" Android Phone

Technically probably the note 3 is the best, but for me it is just too big for a phone. I chose the s4 as it is a decent all rounder with the best screen. Why are other phones still using lcd when oled is clearly superior?

    The Wii U is done

Why the hell did Nintendo release this thing with no big games lined up for launch day and soon after?? It's been out ages now and still no must have games. Are they surprised it has bombed so badly?? Any console is only as good as the games available on it.

    GTX 780 for 2560x1440

Well i'm not sure what you guys are on about as i'm perfectly happy with a single 680 at 1440p  Most games I can pretty much max (maybe dropping the AA a bit) with only Crysis 3 giving me any real problems and that still runs with high settings.

    Three 1920x1200 displays or 2560x1440?

Just get a single vp2770 :) Don't touch the dell u2713hm, the quality control is shocking.

    gtx 770 4GB

I have 4gb on my 680, but only because I bought it second hand for a cracking price. Wasn't particularly looking for a 4gb card. Doubt I will ever use the extra ram even at 1440p. The card will run out of GPU grunt and be replaced long before I use the extra ram.
  8. C

    680 -> 780 worth it?

780 is only 25% faster than the 680, so unless you are struggling for FPS (which I seriously doubt at 1080p) I'd stick with what you have.
  9. C

    7950 to gtx770

Seeing as the 770 is only 10% faster than the 680 and the 680 is only 10% faster than the 7950, it isn't worth it at all. Wait for the next gen and enjoy your 7950 in the meantime.

GTX 480 SLI vs GTX 770

Yep, some decent deals around second hand for 6XX series cards at the moment. Bagged my Gainward Phantom GTX680 4Gb for £200 recently :)
  11. C

GTX 480 SLI vs GTX 770

Grab a second hand 670 / 680 for now, then get a second one for SLI when you have more cash. But to be honest, SLI 480's should max any game at 1920x1200 for quite some time yet.

    Upgrade Path confusion

I'm sure SLI Titans would be an upgrade, but I doubt you would really notice in most games without an FPS counter. Unless you are talking at serious high res.
  13. C

    Upgrade Path confusion

Yeh, pretty much a waste of cash replacing a 690. That card is still top of the line and even two titans wouldn't really give you a hugely noticeable difference unless you are a benchmark junky. Save your cash.

    ViewSonic VP2770: 2560x1440 Semi-Glossy PLS

I got fed up sending monitors back and just came to the conclusion there is no such thing as a defect free IPS panel. They all have some light bleed. Just keep one that only has it to a minimal degree. My current viewsonic only has one small patch along the bottom right and I can't be bothered...

    ViewSonic VP2770: 2560x1440 Semi-Glossy PLS

It's a great monitor, probably the best 1440p screen. Although like with all of them it seems, it's a lottery as to how much backlight bleeding you get :(
  16. C

    ViewSonic VP2770: 2560x1440 Semi-Glossy PLS

Ouch, unlucky there :( Fingers crossed you get a decent replacement!

    ASUS PB278Q

Well i'm happy enough with my VP2770-LED, apart from a bit of backlight bleed on the bottom right edge.

    VP2770 vs LG27EA83

I think all of the 1440p screens have their issues unfortunately. I currently have the vp2770 and it is a fantastic monitor apart from the backlight bleed in the bottom right corner. Already sent two dells back with terrible backlight bleed and dead pixels. Really can't be bothered to send any...

    ViewSonic VP2770: 2560x1440 Semi-Glossy PLS

Oh it's a fantastic monitor without doubt. The colours are much more vibrant and lack the blue tint of the Dell I sent back. Love the design and build quality of it too. Just a shame about the damn light bleed in the bottom right corner :(
  20. C

    ViewSonic VP2770: 2560x1440 Semi-Glossy PLS

Think I have the brightness on 30 currently. It was set to a retina searing 100 when I fired it up for the first time! No doubt it's a fantastic monitor, much better than the dell. Just a shame about the light bleed yet again :(
  21. C

    Dell U2713HM

Other than the backlight bleeding, I do like the Viewsonic more than the u2713hm. I prefer the design, the build quality is better and the colours are more vibrant. Also, the Dell had a bluish tint which is not present on the Viewsonic. If it wasn't for the bleed then this would be a fantastic...

    Dell U2713HM

After trying two Dells and sending them both back for dead pixels and backlight bleed, I gave up and went for a Viewsonic VP2770-LED. And guess what, this has backlight bleed issues too :( I really can't be bothered to keep sending back monitors in the vague hope of getting one without any...

    ViewSonic VP2770: 2560x1440 Semi-Glossy PLS

Well, it's a mighty fine monitor but it does have some minor bleed bottom right :( Not sure I can be bothered to send back any more monitors. Probably just going to keep this one.
  24. C

    ViewSonic VP2770: 2560x1440 Semi-Glossy PLS

Well that makes me feel a little more confident :) It was borderline whether I kept my second dell, so as long as the viewsonic is better then I'll no doubt keep it. I like VA panels best too, but they don't seem to use them much these days. There certainly isn't a 1440p VA screen currently on...

    ViewSonic VP2770: 2560x1440 Semi-Glossy PLS

Hmm, this is not what I wanted to hear after just ordering one :( I'm very picky when it comes to monitors so I'm worried I won't be happy with my purchase. Fingers crossed anyway.
  26. C

    ViewSonic VP2770: 2560x1440 Semi-Glossy PLS

Seeing a few good deals on the Viewsonic currently. Tempted to pull the trigger on one. Edit: ordered one for £493. Fingers crossed its better than the dell I returned...

Recommend a VA monitor for Gaming 1st and Movies 2nd

Do they still make VA panels? It seems most decent monitors all use ips now which seem to suffer with backlight bleed issues. I'd love a decent 27 inch 1440p VA screen.
  28. C

    ViewSonic VP2770: 2560x1440 Semi-Glossy PLS

Sounds like you are getting closer to getting a decent screen. Really shouldn't have to send even one back though. Five years ago I bought my 2407wfp and the first one I received was perfect! Standards must have dropped since :(
  29. C

    ViewSonic VP2770: 2560x1440 Semi-Glossy PLS

Just found a great price on the Viewsonic too, only £499. If I had my refund money back for the Dell, I'd grab one. Edit: Dammit, just went up £17 :(
  30. C

    ViewSonic VP2770: 2560x1440 Semi-Glossy PLS

Like the look of this monitor. How are you finding it for backlight bleed?
  31. C

    Dell U2713HM

So still far from perfect then :( shocking that these monitors cost so much money yet are so poorly built. Fingers crossed your replacement has better uniformity.
  32. C

    Dell U2713HM

I've had two Dells with exactly this problem and both have gone back. Total lack of quality control from Dell and it is not good enough. I have a refund coming soon and i'm considering the Viewsonic myself also. Would be good to hear how you get on with yours.

Thanks for the feedback :) Looking at the vp2770 currently.

In market for new 27" 2560X1440 max res monitor in next 60 days...

I'm in exactly the same position as you. Been researching and come to the conclusion that they all have their drawbacks but the vp2770-led seems about the best bet. Don't get a u2713hm as the quality control on them is just rotten. I tried 2 of them and both had dead pixels and awful backlight...

    Eizo FlexScan EV2736W

I currently have a dell 2407wfp and I'm a regular gamer but not hardcore competitive. I just want a good all round 1440p display with no backlight bleed. Unfortunately most ips displays seem to suffer from bleed at the moment. The u2713hm I tried was appalling :(
  36. C

    LG 27EA83-D

Really like the look of this screen, but my main use is gaming / media / Internet and general desktop use. Price wise it isn't that much more than the vp-2770-led but I'd rather get the monitor more suited to my needs. I also want a monitor with minimal backlight bleed.
  37. C

    LG 27EA83-D

So the vp2770-led would be the better screen for a gamer?
  38. C

    LG 27EA83-D

Is this any good for gaming? Does the wide gamut cause issues? How does it compare to the vp2770-led?
  39. C

    ViewSonic VP2770: 2560x1440 Semi-Glossy PLS

Bioshock looking good there :) So whats the general opinion on this screen? Am I less likely to get one with bad bleed than the u2713hm? I've given up on swapping out the Dell in hope of getting an acceptable one :(
  40. C

    Eizo FlexScan EV2736W

Anyone know if these are decent for gaming? Or are they mainly for professional use only? Any backlight bleed?
