You can get really good deals if you look around. Just recently there was a 9800NP for $129, and a 9700NP for $115. Both new, from a pretty reputable site.

I've played FarCry on my 9800 =) along with the Doom3 Alpha, HL2 Beta, and a few other select goodies. So far they all run pretty well.
