I haven't had any problems with newegg packaging their hdds. Last time I ordered 4 hdds and they actually sent them in the 12-pack OEM box, the 4 drives were nicely distributed amongst the 12 available slots.

Why would you buy an outdated chipset from 2011? Even with any issues the X99 might have it's still much more feature-rich and up to date without needing all the extra chips to mimic what the X99 has built-in.
From the intel presentation I can see that it has more/different capacitors on the bottom of the chip. So it has a different TIM + different power delivery/regulation. I can't wait to see 5.0GHz+
