So some of those are blanked out since I have a trial version (above image is my machine), and my mem latency and bandwidth seem really low compared to what this CPU is suppose to do. Performance is low too, I'm only getting 206 single threaded in R15. I've looked at the review over at guru3d...
CPU is a 5820K, and I actually have 2 to test with and it seems to happen with both.
I'm running stock bios settings, only change is bumping the cpu fan to full speed, and turning raid on.
I'm getting a 40c+ idle temp even when the voltage drops to 0.725.
I've got a corsair H100i GTX and I've...
I keep seeing the initial reviews saying 1.4v volts is maybe too much.
Now that the chips been out for almost a year anybody torch one of these bad boys using 1.4v?
I've got an old antec truepower 750w PSU I bought brand new fro my X58 build.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371025
Likely going to build a new system this month and I'm trying to decide if I need a new PSU or not.
Just running a single 970GTX, 3 SSDs and a...
Going to do a new build soon, either skylake or Haswell-E (anybody know about the broadwell-e launch?).
I used a scythe mugen on my i7-920 build and have loved it's performance and acoustic profile, the new v4 is $53/prime on amazon...
So I just picked up another 6950 since the frame pacing driver came out.
I have a gigabyte EX58-UD3R v1.6 motherboard, so the top PCIe slot is only two slots away, so it's a tight fit.
The result is that the top card (switched them both into the top slot), routinely hits >100c in gaming...
I just got a pair of HD598 headphones and now i find the onboard reltek sound lacking.
I do switch between using the headphones and a cheap pair of desktop speakers for when other family members use the computer. With the current setup that just means unplugging the headset, which is nice...
I've got an ATI 4850 with the original single slot cooler. It's starting to get louder, I was wondering what's outh there that might be quieter, but I'd also like it if the new fan plugged into the old fan header.
I can get a good deal on a 4850X2, already have a 4850.
Anybody else have this setup?
Good/Bad otherwise.
The CPU powering my rig is a socket 1366 i7 @ 4.0ghz and my PS is an antec 750w, so I've got the juice to run it.
plugged a 20 pin powersupply into the wrong 20 pins.
Need a new mobo now, any nforce4 that has cpu voltage and HT control up to 260mhz or so would be fine.
So it's your basic story i7 920 with high end air cooling (Scythe Mugen 2).
Here's what I tried.
CPU multi @ 15x
BCLK @ 220
QPI @ 36 (also tried slow)
RAM @ 6x (ram is GSKill F3 1333mhz)
Uncore @ 13x
cpu vcore @ 1.35
QPI VTT @ 1.5
ram VTT @ 1.6
This results in a no post...
My current setup is an opteron 165 (dual core) @ 2.5ghz and a radeon 4650
wich looks like it needs about 400w from the calculator here: http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp
I'm moving to a core i7 and the calculator say that I may need as much as 470w with an aggressive...

Anything else in the $40 range available elsewhere?

Anandtech hit 4.6ghz w/ corsair H50 cooler on a 920 D0.
It's got a great slot layout (you can go dual slot SLI + an available 16x (4 lanes) if ever wanted to drop a 4x raid/sas card in, and still has 1 useable PCIe)
It's...

Is the only benefit the ability to go 2 way?
I know for a while the Opteron's where better for O/C'n then their A64 X2 cousins (infact I'm upgrading from said...
I have an old thermaltake water cooling unit (one of the self contained jobbers) and it works with s775 mounting holes, and I see some of the socket 1366 boards take the 755 brackets.
I want a board that will help me break 4ghz (I realize that alot has to do with the chip) with an i7 920. I'm...
Looks like the only difference is that the SE doesn't support SLI.
Is this the case or are there other bios options lacking? Also can you cross flash the boards?
So I'm going to do the i7 920 D0 stepping
I'm think I'm going to use this ram
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231225
I'm not 100% on what cooler I'm going to use, so I want a board that will support using one of the bigger air coolers.
I've got a single ATI...
my old rig broke down and money is tight. If I'm gonna spend money I want to get a signifigant boost.
My old rig was an opty165 @ 2.7, so starting wit ha new chip at 2.7 seems reasonable assuming I can get a solid o/c out of it. What should I expect 3, 3.5, 3.8?
I realize these are the...
I'm on a budget and hoping to spend ~100-130 on a proc.
What's gonna give me the best shot for 4ghz, are most of them going to do ~3.5 no problem?
Assuming decent motherboard, cooling will be thermalright xp-120.
I'm not gonna SLI or crossfire at any point.
I just need something I can use to overclock to a decent (3.ghz+) speed.
Any good board that that have proper voltage control, cooling etc..?
My old socket 939 AMD setup is on it's last legs, getting really flakey on the stability front. I can put it back at stock speeds and it's rock stable, but I need more. But I can probably spend no more than $200
I've got a thermalright XP-120, so I'm good to go on that front.
I just need...
If I put all 4 dimms in I get no post, 3 dimms post.
WTF?
Any idea on settings I could tweak, I've already tried loosing up the timings as much as they will go and upping the memory voltage as high as it will go (2.8v).
Any other ideas?
I need a new socket 939 board that I can overclock with.
I know it's a bit crazy to sink money into this old platform, but I'm just not ready to spend $200+ doing an upgrade to a newer X2 when I want to wait a few (4 or 5) months until I can get something really juiced up.
Any options, I...
ntune will do it, but it needs to be reset everytime on reboot, regardless of the profile on reboot it defaults to default instead of custom timings for the GPU
I'm having a nasty time getting rivaTuner to work.
Is there anything else even out htere? (gawd I miss the old driver applet +...
What I'm looking for is something that will help me tune my o/c on my 4850.
I know in CCC there is the overdive panel to set clock speed.
What I'm looking for is something that can help me determine where the max clock speed should be by actually showing visual tearing.
The CCC auto o/c...
I appologize if there is a gigantic thread on this monitor, for the life of me I can't find the search button.
Okay so I've been doing a sick amount of research on 24" LCDs.
Gaming on it will be my #1 priority, but I am very much a image quality snob, so much so I have access to a high...
I'm not looking for the max everything tightest timing DFI Lanparty job.
I'm looking for something that's gonna give me all the voltage and FSB settings I need to get a good O/C on the stock heatpipe cooler.
Budget is really $100+-10.
Any feedback on weather or not to get a dell or gateway 24"
The specs seem identical for brightness, contrast, response time, pixel pitch, ect.. Both have HDCP.
The have some different connections and the gateway has the farajuoda chip. But if it's only ever gonna be hooked up to a...
Any good recomendations for a socket AM2 board with good overclocking options/capabilities?
I've got a buddy on a budget and he's looking to me for advice, and I haven't put together a system in like 18mo.
Hi I've got a buddy who's got some real budget constraints, I was wondering how the lowend semprons O/C?
I've got an opty 165 which started life as a lowly 1.8ghz chip that runs 2.66, so I know some can get up there regardless of where they start life.
