This is a design idea I'm actually interested to see you persue further. I'm concerned about aesthetics though as that'll probably be what makes or breaks it for most of us. The prototype was beautiful and I foresee that being a bit more difficult to achieve with a front-vented design. On the...
It's not nearly as big of a deal as whoever you've been talking to has made it out to be. I feel much more powerful with raid and dungeon gear than I did after freshly hitting max level. I complete world quests two to three times faster now.
1) I personally wouldn't use two 120mm AIOs, but I don't want that option taken away just to avoid seeing screws.
2) I'd prefer both—surely, it's possible. However, if I had to choose, I'd keep USB Type-C.
Almost all of the ITX boards I've looked at have M.2 slots on the back. Having to completely remove the motherboard in order to gain access to the M.2 slot and the backside of the CPU mounting socket would be a PITA that I'd like to avoid, if possible.
We'd also be losing cable management space...
I still have a v1 Sentry (Black) in its original unopened packaging if anyone is interested in buying it off of me for what I paid + shipping costs. It looks like my next PC build is further away than initially anticipated and I'm sure someone that missed out on the initial crowdfunding campaign...
If the top I/O provides more structural rigidity, I'd much prefer that over something that feels flimsy. Besides, it looks great! I hope we can get USB-C included as well.
BTW, it looks very similar to the earlier Lian Li prototype:
Aesthetics are always subjective. However, dondan already surveyed the followers of this project regarding design choices and this was the most popular one—by a wide margin, if I remember correctly.
I thought I'd give everyone here a heads-up about Corsair's Black Friday sale. They have the SF600 (refurbished) for $62.39 after applying the BLACKFRIDAY17 discount code.
You'd better hurry though—they'll go fast! Good luck.
Because I don't have the money right now and knowing that Intel is very likely to release an eight core processor alongside a new chipset (Z390) next year, I don't want to buy their current six core offering. The new chipset is supposed to bring us some long awaited new features. I'm likely...
I just received my Sentry (Long Run: Order ID #1229) here in Portland, OR. I wasn't expecting to receive it so soon (40 days). USPS tried to leave a notice without even attempting to knock or ring the doorbell first, but I caught them before they could get away.
There were some slight tears in...
I've used numerous heatsinks over the years that have made use of fan clips to secure the fans and I've never experienced any issues other than the inherent annoyance they cause when initially installing or swapping out fans.
Unless the shipper pays extra to require a signature, whether or not they leave the package is solely at the driver's discretion. If they don't feel it'd be safe to leave it, they won't.
EDIT:
For USPS, FedEx, and UPS, you can create an account on their website and if you verify your...
