Big thumbs up for the Logitech Cordless Rumblepad. PS2-alike, wireless.
No lag, great battery life, comfortable as PS2, and no cord. Had 'em for more than a year now, on three battery changes that I know of, and they get tossed and kicked and dropped and live around the coffee table in this...
I've been happy for a long time with the Logitech Rumblepads. They're PS2-alikes. I use the cordless ones... Very awesome. Wired controllers are a thing of the past for me.
They've survived my living room for more than a year and a half. That's saying something.
Well, we've seen what the 360 does, and will be doing, and obviously the imagery will scale up as the developers grow with the console, and this is, yes, going to be pretty impressive. I wager it'll be on par graphically with the PS3, at least as far as what you and I can see.
I'd predict...
Sounds interesting. I don't think there's been a black and white game... But I've definitely played many monochrome ones.
Except instead of white, it was amber or green. Black was still black though. :D
Kids these days. You're missing some of the best films ever made. White Heat? Vertigo...
I've seen laptops take some serious drops. I've put a few old IBMs through unintentional drop tests - One from at LEAST 5 feet, while running - Some 450mhz Mobile P2 one, that kept running! Always survived! The one I intentionally was trying to destroy seemed invincible! (486) I ended up having...
I was never that impressed with the PSP, mainly on account of the UMD media. There's no reason it couldn't of been a wee bit larger to accomodate a full-sized DVD. I say this size increase wouldn't be a penalty, because I recall toting around a Discman 'back in the day' when I listened to CDs (I...
So why are you knocking me for commenting on that? Increasing your postcount, or something? :D
Seemed like a logical option for a gaming keyboard for me. I'm just suggesting it as an option. I don't use a backlit one either, but, they do seem to be all the rage lately, and would be a sound...
No numpad, no good.
As if gamers use their computer for nothing but games. I can see selling a console USB keyboard without a full size numpad, but one intended for a PC? It couldn't of been just a regular keyboard with the Merc part on the left side? What were they thinking?
This would be...
I'm having problems with my CPU...
And I'm using a non-standard BIOS! And a beta at that!
Hello?
Go download the most current 'official' BIOS and troubleshoot it without it being OC'd to see if you have an actual problem with the hardware itself. Then let us know if your...
I use my MS Explorer 4.0 ambidexterously without cause for complaint, even if it isn't intended that way. And before anyone says anything, this has nothing to do with porn. :p
In my old living room setup, depending on which couch seat you had, you were using the mouse left or right handed...
Wow. Wow. WOW.
I've been into the computer thing for going on 20 years now... and... this is FUCKING AMAZING. (Pardon the profanity please, and apologize to your mother for me if she's reading over your shoulder.)
I'd buy a Mac. I wanted a Mac laptop as a secondary PC, so I could, you...
Let's see...
No POST codes? (Beeps, I mean.) If not, perhaps these LEDs you speak of are telling you something.
Try referencing the motherboard's manual there (RTFM, in the future)
There could be a short... A standoff in the wrong place, something, somewhere the motherboard is making...
Because I've been spending so much damn money incrementally fixing one faulty component at a time to maintain having a working PC, that and budget towards a new PC, has been soaked up. Maybe this spring. It didn't help that I waited long enough to where I now need PCI Express instead of AGP, and...
Generally, missing pins usually cause the CPU to not work at all or work in a very odd, incorrect way, and goodness knows what it's doing to your system. Re: Frying the chip by running sans pins - I fail to see what difference it's going to make if it screws the CPU up more than the actual...
A lot of those Slot1 CPUs with Passive heatsinks are probably OEM pulls, and the case had a ventilation system designed to work with the passive sink, on that board layout. You can try rigging up a fan to it, or a fan pointing at it, and you may solve your problems.
If that doesn't work - Has...
And that's the key here. No reverse engineering.
Also, someone mentioned emulation errors with Starfox... Which is weird, because I was playing Starfox emulated on the big big screen (115" woot) a few months ago with no complaints - And I have the SNES and cartridge, and I swear, the ZSNES...
I've had mostly good experiences with a NEC VT660 projector, but the power-to-lamp interface just cooked a few days ago, so I dunno. It isn't even that old... It's an 800x600 projector and re: HDTV, believe me, going from a normal sized TV, to a 115" diagnonal, everything looks nice and huge and...
GoW is the best PS2 game I ever played. Really anticipating GoW 2.
If you think it's "too short" or "too easy," try God Mode. Good luck with that! Normal was enough for me.
It has a really 'directed' feel, with the way the camera works throughout the game, and I can't think of any other...
So, long story short, my Ti4600's* fan died. It took me about a week of random crashes and so forth to figure it out, hah, but, anyways, I pulled the fan off, and suspended an 80mm on zip ties, also secured to the bottom of the case. I can't put the side back on, but, this is temporary anyways...
Diablo II
Buggiest-fucking-game-ever.
There are STILL bugs that affect the gameplay despite having a massive playerbase and still going on after all these years.
They did just release a 1.11 patch this past summer, fixed a few useful glitches, didn't fix any of the really annoying...
Your pal is an idiot, and I, for one, am amazed that despite 'doing this shit for 15 years' he still doesn't know what a benchmark is for.
Also, is he still using a Pentium II? What sort of lifespan does he require out of hardware? Who keeps a PC for 10 years? Last summer I filled a few K6's...
I'll believe a 5% performance increase when I see it, in benchmarks, done by a third competent and reliable party, like the [H], for example. Believe it when you see it.
Until then this is Intel's PR department creating flamebait all around the internet. :p
110" (diagnonal) Projection Screen, NEC VT60.
It's about time for a new projector, this one's a few years old, but I've still got the biggest screen in town, after the movie theatre. There aren't even any sports bars with a screen this big. :D
Mostly movies, but it's seen a lot of God of...

Follow the link, watch - Aside from keyboard input, I'd miss the springy keys, but for the rest, I'd be pretty impressed to see it in person.
I watched my flatmate beat Castlevania III the other day on the DLP/103" screen. That was a sight.
We ended up dragging out and wiring up a lot of classic consoles. Road Rash, anyone? Road Rash was great. When I get bored I always seem to fire up Doom, and at this point I think I know where...
The basic rule of PC component purchasing, and this has always been true, ever since the days of the 8086: Buy as much memory as you can afford.
So, yes, you need 2GB of RAM. :D
Very clean, very pro looking, very nice solution.
The NB fan is also always the first to go. Always. Videocard fans come second.
The latter, I understand, those bastards get hot and you really need a fan to keep the costs down on a vidcard cooling solution. But the northbridge? How much...
I'd also like to see more laptop reviews.
I don't think there's a large portion of [H] readers that can be sold a desktop PC :D however, for laptops, we are at the mercy of large OEMs for the most part, so I think that would be the most helpful to your reader base.
A quick peek in the...
Force feedback, when you hit an object, controller rumbles. I guarantee that is how they plan to do it. I don't think we'll see deflection, that'll probably be done on-screen only.
I've been saying this, and saying this, and saying this. I just hope someone at Lucasarts is listening...
