I'm tired of seeing garbage like this here. Seems like this whole board is 90% newbies replying to any thread they can giving bad facts and terrible advice.
The XFX should reach 570-580 core and 1200-1220 mem. It's on the less quiet side.
150CFM for an exhaust is about 5x overkill. And make sure you've got an intake sucking noticably more air then your exhaust is blowing out or you're gonna steal your PSU's airflow, cause your PSU needs air to pull from inside the case too.
Sorry I already went through that and never found the right datasheets. But this time around I found another awesome thingy on ocinside that translates product codes. :p thx
Since I have a gig the FSB tops out at 235 2.5-2-2-9 3.0v CPC. At 11x I can't get 2585 stable more than an hour so I run 230 for 2530 and get 12+ hours Prime. Chipset is 1.7v.
When you spread that super thin layer you gotta have a properly lapped sink; at least 1000 grit on a piece of thick...
You're using a 120mm fan on a 92mm sink? I dunno how you even got the thing on there but I'm sure the outer edges of the blades, where the most airflow is, aren't pushing air through the fins.
And don't even try a 120->92 adapter even if you can figure out how to attach it to the sink, cause...
You'll need at least 1.80v for 2400 and probably 1.90-1.95v for 2500, which is impossible on that board unless you wanna do a Vcore mod. Just put it at 1.85v and hope for 2500.
48C load is high for 2400MHz @ 1.75v. My ambient temp is always 70 and my mobile's load temp is about 50, and thats...
Anything over -100 is going to inhibit performance, and and according to AMD an "Athlon XP" processor is safe up to 85. I see no other data for mobiles.
Basically the panel hole is too big. I had it perfect and spot epoxied the fan to the inside for a screwless solution. The fan has a steel housing and rotor with the paint ground off and sanded to match the case, so I thought I'd try to grind down the edges of the hole to bend in slightly and...
If anyone purchased the P160's windowed panel after their initial full aluminum case purchase, I'd like your original side panel, as shown above.
I fudged what was supposed to be a touchup on a (sweet) 172mm fan mod. Now it's crap and I need to start over. :p
PM an offer, whatever...
I've seen a zillion posts warning about overvolting your memory, and funny enough, I've never seen one credible post about someone killing their's doing it.
But destroying the memory controller on an A64 is something I've heard about. :p
Video heatsinks are rarely flat, and chips never are. He needs to lap the heatsink and use a good amount of paste to avoid creating those air pockets, unless he wants to lap the chip too. Chips can be lapped but the two times I've tried it took two hours starting with 200 grit emory board to be...
If you were careful for cover it very evenly (or if you smeared on gobs of paste like a peanut butter sandwich), then the bare spot you saw would be where there was the most contact.
Bi-monthly? Not a big deal but that might be overestimating depending on how dusty your home is. I've had my system air filtered for about three and half months I think, and besides a fine film on the area under my side intake, the system looks as good as the day I cleaned it out.
Newegg doesn't carry many fans at all. Directron still has the largest selection I can find.
First of all, you've probably got a highly inefficient setup right now. Put your hand behind your case where the backs of your cards are and you'll probably feel a lot of air, which means your exhaust...
