meh, already tired of halo 2 anyway (and i never really did like it much to begin with)
making a PC port would mean it would essentially compete against other games in a 13-year old mostly PC-native platform. to me, the halo series just doesnt have the innovation of other FPS games --...
i deleted it :p
4 people wanted it too, and the original buyer had to cancel due to an unfortunate mishap :(
anyway, sold to xeebo unless some other catastrophe occurs

i would assume any cycling would be done within a few seconds at most, so im convinced that its just locked at FF.
im gonna lean on the side of the bios. connecting the 4-pin P4 connector actually makes things worse; i just get a little 'fizzing' sound when i start up and nothing else at all...
well i resolved the power issue (just needed to replace the power supply) but now the board isnt even POSTing as far as i can tell.. heres what im getting:
the fans, cpu fan and 7800gt fan are running, so i can assume they're receiving power
ive tried connecting the pc speaker both ways...
just got mine and connected everything up, but i cant seem to boot at all. once i power up the psu, all i get is a red light and nothing at all from the fans, cpu, anything else. im assuming a red light means that although the board is receiving power, something might not be right. any suggestions?
since everyones going to mention the halos, ill just skip those

after reading that thread...
ive got finals week to worry about so i may hold off on doing those tests to that detail for a few days, but i will say this:
1) it is indeed a psu that came bundled with my case
2) ive noticed that i do get 'hardware malfunction' on a fresh boot...
YES :D
i have it for the xbox, and it looks so droolable in HDTV, and for only $20... and im not even normally a sports game player but i love this game :D theres so many great $20 xbox games out there - i picked up burnout 2 and crimson skies for $20 each and theyre both such fun games that...
link back to http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=839549 - which contains the problem im still having to this date
ive narrowed it down to either the psu or motherboard - its a 300 watt psu that comes with the evercase ECE4252. now i get that error in windows, but linux seems to run fine...
being a PC FPS gamer for a few years, i wont give in to the hype surrounding halo, and i wont declare it "the best game ever", but i will give halo and halo 2 credit for what it tries to do. the halo series attempted to translate the keyboard/mouse formula for PC FPS games into the xbox...
another update:
i booted up knoppix in order to see if it would give a similar message from linux's perspective: although it did boot up and work fine, the console said, at the beginning, something along the lines of "nmi received for unknown reason 3d" and something about a weird power mode...
i ran memtest86 overnight and it completed 12 loops without any errors, but it may be because i disabled ECC as one of the remedies for the blue screen
this leaves it down to the psu or motherboard and possibly the vid card
update: im home now, heres the exact text of the error im getting now:

the computer classes my high school offered were LAME, and very few in selection
all they offered was: coding websites in HTML (and some basic CSS at the end), desktop publishing, keyboarding and "advanced computers" - which was supposedly their hardest computer class - and it was basically...
first of all, i should have mentioned that yes, i do have the leadtek geforce 4 ti4400 to be exact, and from what i know, theyre a very reputable brand
i dont know exactly how to check the video card temperatures - ive felt it after i had to shut down from the bluescreen (like, say, when i...
the problem started at least two weeks ago and seems to show no signs of stopping. it MAINLY occurs when i play 3d-intensive games, but ive had several occasions (especially recently) where it will happen after a few hours or so of normal use.
what irks me is how vague the blue screen is: it...

i have no real programming experience, but ive always considered programming simple games as more of a side-hobby :) - in other words, im not going to be the next john carmack, but if i make something that people generally like, thatd make me especially happy
funny that you say...
as long as youre in calculus in high school (which is one year ahead of the typical math route for californians when i was in high school) that at least shows that youve got a good head up as far as the math goes
cs programs, to my knowledge, require you to take some math classes that not...

blasphemy what
- q2 rail had a beefier sound and felt stronger (it was really the same strength but it felt weaker in q3 since you started with 125 health)
- q2dm1. nuff said. remains my favorite deathmatch map of all time for ANY game. no remake can top the original for that matter

as far as pc-to-console and console-to-pc conversions go, generally, i believe that the medium upon which a game was first released on is usually the ideal media to play the game on. of course, there are a few exceptions such as the halo series (although halo for the pc was a crappy port despite...

my account is scheduled for deactivation on december 9 but i figure by the time its shipped to you itll be deactivated by then. im making room for WoW :D
supposedly its near their "recommended" requirements of around 2ghz (even though a 1900+ ~1.6 actual ghz) and a geforce 4
what i mainly want to know is what kind of performance i can expect with that rig, possibly from people who have a rig close to mine

i never even understood the big deal behind halo 1 to begin with.. it felt just like another average cookiecutter FPS game to me. whatever it was that made it so overhyped, i cant quite pinpoint
