How is this any different than the kid using the card to signup for a porn site that auto renewed?
What would he do then? Sue the porn site?
"I swear your honor! My kid signed up for the porn site with my debit card! Not me!"
Download the ISO of the distro, then create a new virtual machine and boot it with the ISO mounted in the cdrom of the VM.
VPC won't work with some distros. VMWare has a bit better compatibility.
I really like the MS Bluetooth mouse. I use it with my Powerbook w/ built in BT.
Like mose BT mice, it doesn't have a swich to turn it off, so you either have to carry spare batteries, or pull one out when your not using it. But I get enough life out of this MS mouse that I just leave it on...
Encoding movies with Handbrake, I resorted to using ffmpeg as it only took about the same amount of time as the movie length itself, w/o changing bit size or screen size. H.264 on the otherhand, would take hours. And yes, when encoding short clips, even at the same size and bits, it was still...
Yes, great quality at the cost of huge file size. I encoded a 4meg file and it grew to 10meg. Encoding a movie from 700megs grew to well over 1.5gigs. I can sacrafice some quality for half the size using xvid or divx, and not have it take days to encode..
I used AVG for a while but got tired of it not wanting to update alot of the time. And I didn't care much for its interface.
I tried F-Prot but got alot of false positives, like it locking me out of php files for websites because of the code in them.
I tested Nod32 but didn't care for its...
start > run > dcpromo.exe
By default, if you have it setup with AD, then it requires it be set to a domain name and not in a workgroup (which is what your shows). If you don't see the three AD administrative links under Admin Tools (AD users and computers, AD domains and trusts, AD sites and...
Your Orange network uses the DNS servers of your ISP for requests outside your network. The IP of the ISPs DNS servers is the same that your Green network uses. You can either get this info from your ISP, or if its DSL, you can plug a workstation into the modem and let it get all the info via...
I had a Gateway 200x - 1.4GHz PentiumM Centrino laptop, great little laptop. I also currently have a 1.2Ghz Rev. A AL Powerbook, an awsome laptop. But, I would honestly take a Centrino laptop over a PB in terms of performance. The Pentium M is a great little chip that always felt snappier then...
I've got it running fine, but cant get Rosetta apps (itunes, dvd player) to run eventhough I have SSE3 on my P4 3.0E HT Presscott (eventhough everyone else has gotten them to run). :( Runs fast as hell though. :D
If you have an SSE3 supporting proc to run Rosetta, then you can run most current PPC apps. Supposedly the latest Apple apps are already supposed to have dual support built in, or will upon release.
It runs slow as hell on my P43.0, and networking doesn't work.. :/ I'll just stick to my powerbook for now. :D

Don't link to anywhere describing how to do this.

Because buying a mac just to play with linux is pretty expensive way to do it. I second getting a cheap pc laptop and playing with it on there. Only a few distros are ported to PPC whereas just about all of them support x86 natively.
As an everyday desktop OS, OSX is what linux should be if it wants to win market share. But compared to OSX in usability, its archaic. Don't confuse being proficient at using linux with usability to a normal pc user. I wasn't commenting on it as a server platform since I use it for my hosting...
Linux is pointless on a mac IMHO. OSX is what Linux should be in usability and fuctionality. Linux is so archaic compared to OSX. Plus, OSX can run most linux apps by installing Apple's X11 and Fink. I don't even mess with linux anymore except on my servers. "New distro!? Meh..... OSX is still...
Alienware farms their support out to local companies unless its something major that requires you to send the whole machine back to the factory.
We had Alienware call us to service a customers computer. All I did was a mobo swap (they sent us the mobo), tested it, and gave it back to the...
I'd go with the AP, the Range Extender is junk, I already tried it once. Just make sure that if your using the 54 series linksys products, ALL of your wireless products are from the 54 series family. You can't mix them with other models.
Personally, I went with Netgear's powerline system...
Import playlists? Not from WMP. iTunes builds its own database based on the ID3 tags of the songs. Then you create Smartlists if you want certain collections of songs. Otherwise since its databased, you can skim through your collection based on artist, genre, or album (click the Browse button)...
You paid $120 bucks for the license to USE the software, per the EULA terms. You OWN nothing. Its still MS's property that they can control as they see fit. If you want to be technical.. :D
Funny thing is, I switched my old computer into a linux server and installed XP on my new computer...
iTunes will only mess up your music organization if your ID3 tags are messed up.. Granted I spent a few days redoing my tags, now everything is managed for me, its great. I use both windows and mac (and linux servers), I prefer iTunes on both windows and mac. If your gripping over 20 megs of...
Nice! I like the PSU on the bottom setup (ala Dell XPS), given that you have a mobo that is arranged to support it nicely. Nice clean front door, but is the door plastic? Is it Antec's usual Steel frame or AL?
If only I wasn't strictly SFF... hehe
