Hello all;
For a year now I have been running a FreeNAS system at home and for the most part it has given me no headaches. When I started I knew next to nothing about FreeNAS and muddled my way into a working server with the following setup: eVga 780i, E2200, 2 GB Ram, 2 * 2 TB Hard...
The only thing I use the server for is streaming video/music to my HTPC in the master bedroom (an AOpen MP965-D), my HTPC in the family room (Dell 530s), to the audio rack in the home gym (old Sempron 3200+ system), my main rig, 2 laptops, and 2 blackberry playbooks... It also does scheduled...
Hey all;
So I have been running a simple FreeNAS setup for a couple years now; e2200/2gb ram/evga 780i/4xWD 2gb HD/ZFS. Its setup as a file server on my GB network as a movie/music/tv show/backup unit and has done its job flawlessly.
Fast forward to last week, parents computer dies...
To what end? I call me cynical but this will change nothing but make a few people feel better about themselves... Lets see if the ISN goes offline. LOL
OUCH! One would think that companies stay on top of issues like that... There is where the economy comes in, the Asus tech responsible for the drivers on the website was 'downsized'...
God I hope you're right and this is a troll... I fear it isn't and the stupidity make me sad. Good thing you took the high road, i'm not sure that I could have. :)

Ryan_975 : I cant explain it either, I have an old HP system with an A64 3500+ 939 running right now as a utorrent machine on my home network with 2X256 in slots 1&2 and a single 512 in slot 3 so I don't think its the memory controller. I posted here because of the useless help you received...
That happens? I thought everything was on the net. :) I think the last driver I had trouble locating was back in Windows 98se days.
I'm waiting for hardware manufactures to include the drivers on the device, a little flash memory and you have the basic drivers without the CD... But then...
Dude, What? I'm pretty sure that I disagree with you...
Electronics don't "gety real poerful real quick due to demand and price/value"
Electronics evolve as improvements in the tech are developed and deployed, not because demand increases... As for price/value, well if production of...
I lost a thread in cars/motor vehicles... Man, you expect a certain level of perfection from a free service!
:D j/k Keep up the great (and thankless) work here at the [H]
Thanks for the reply, guess I didn't do enough research to start with. I checked the min specs for the dvd drive and it calls for a lot more than what I have in excess hardware. I guess that the old northwood will have to find a different job now that I am going to be building from scratch...
I didn't know whether it could or could not, hence the asking of a question.
Thanks for the response, at least I know where to start. Any response on the rest of the system?
Hello;
So I am building a new HTPC as my old one has out lasted what I thought it would do when I first built it. When I say "building a new' I don't mean new parts, here is what I have laying around not in use right now and am thinking of using:
CPU = P4 3.0G Northwood @ 200MHz FSB
MoBo...
Hello;
This is driving me NUTS! OK, so you can plug your Wii mote into the guitar that comes with Guitar Hero using the nunchuk port on the bottom of the Wii mote... So if I want to take an old guitar and mod it into a controller I need to know the button mapping thru the nunchuk port...
Hey eth00;
I always thought you should do a full format on a new drive? Maybe I'm just old school (or just old), I remember formating my first hard drive. It was a MASSIVE IBM 10 Meg hard drive. :D
