@txsizzler, like Donald Trump said, "I am not cheating the system, I am simply taking advantage of deals, vague or available situations where my business can profit."
But seriously, I needlessly 'gave' Verizon so much of my hard-earned money for really not much better service.
@munkle, one...
How do they know WHAT phone I have on my plan? What if I give them my 90% broken LG G2. Hardware works, display works but a vertical crack caused the touchscreen to stop working. I use the OTG cable with KB+Mouse.
So I can get let's say a iPhone 6s, LG G4 or Moto X Pure or whatever that...
Hey everyone,
Scenario: I am past my 2yr agreement with Verizon and currently month to month, so eligible for the 2yr "upgrade" & lower price phone spend.
Question: Is it too much trouble to go thru the 2y agreement and get new phone then port to another carrier like TMobile, which has...
I'm thinking "white label" means rebadged, de-branded or brown boxed--I guess NOT OEM'ed. Innards are for example Western Digital, but new label doesn't say that.
Hi Guys,
My current ZFS system is already a few years old and comprises of 3 2TB Hitachi drives.
One of the drives, about every 15 minutes keeps doing a thermal recalibrate (I can hear the ar reseting)
I was thinking of rebuilding the whole setup using 4TB drives and in looking, I came across...
Hi Guys,
Thanks for all your feedback. From those who suggested here, plus other team members who also requested input, the title that was chosen for the role was ....

Hi Dogs,
No, COE denotes where the main expertise is for a function or business practice. For example, at both my former employer (20 years @ another CPG) we had a similar concept. There was the SAP Center of Excellence, BI COE, etc. Whenever you had an issue, the folks there are the most...
Hi guys,
Thanks for replying--and sorry for being vague. Our main business is as a CPG (Consumer Package Goods) company, we're not a software, hardware or ISP/hosting provider and we don't develop consumer-facing sites in-house. For that, each team in the respective geography has an agency...
Hi Guys,
Don't really want to mention the company I work for, but it has presence in almost 200 countries with sales of almost 70 billion dollars.
So, my boss asked me to conger up some new work titles for the team and I wanted to crowd source it a bit.
Here's the gist of what we do ...

Hi guys,
I have a Gigabyte GTX 590 stored in a closet--Really, I do. What could that do for me?

If you make site changes, it is NOT DNS. Maybe there is a caching or CDN service somewhere. Things like ISA, CloudFlare or Akamai will do this. It might be transparent to you or you might not be aware that it's there. Again, not sure if you tested @ home thru a regular router or at work with...
Hi Guys,
I was asked to investigate if anyone has tried to setup a SmoothWall or similar fork/distro at Amazon in order to white/blacklist sites that EC2 instances can reach out to.
So for example, we would like to block ALL outbound HTTP/HTTPS traffic except to particular sites (by...
For such a large crowd, you guys didn't use a 3rd party service like On24 or Akamai SOLA ???
Maybe the internal network got congested with too many streams?
Sounds all too familiar.
I don't know if anyone's mentioned it, but branch out into other DBMS systems like Cassandra, MongoDB, RavenDB and Redis. It's a different paradigm and it's not just the simplified syntax, but also possibilities. No longer do you have to setup huge IBM DB2 data warehouses when you can use NoSQL.
Also, don't forget that India developers/consulting firms will try to outbid you with over-hyped staff. .net is great since it's usually in-line with big company initiatives (aside from SAP)
What you should also do is move past the developer role and go into MIS because I personally think...
As the title implies, I have 2 working Intel LGA775 Pentium 640 CPU @ 3.2ghz

Wow... good input.. still tough. I'm either going to do an Amazon on it... go to the Apple Store.. see it, then order online from J&R .. .no Tax + Free S/H $499
But definitely please keep the comments coming in!
Hey gang,
For mother's day I plan to get the Mrs. a New iPad. Question is, should I get her a white one or a black one?
I ask because I dont know about the noticealbe fingerprints smudges of white vs black. Also, I dont know if the white one will yellow over some time based on...
I have a 590GTX and when I push it with artificial test tools (3DMark) my Kill-A-Watt goes over 600W during the test. But again, this video card is overkill.
Alright, got it working. The issue was the server I was connecting the pass-thru PCIe card to. The card does not seem to fully support the chipset of the pass-thru card. I changed over to another machine that has a Z68 chipset w/ an i5 processor.
Installed Windows 2008 R2 ... Stress tested a...
So here it is... $4,000 later...
Now Windows 2008 R2 doesn't go into GUI mode (nor Safe GUI), it reboots at CLASSPNP.SYS
Tried removing the drivers (using another video card) and letting Windows 2008 R2 pick up the drivers/hardware. But still hangs.
Waiting for Cubix to call back.
PS: With...
