I really like my PA271W. For photography/image work the added features over other 27" ones make it worth it, as well as the i1Display and SpectraView integration. Very versatile and capable display.
I had an EA231i for awhile and this is really a cut above. Worth the money I paid.
Sorry, but the GT isn't even the best in Panasonics lineup. That belongs to the VT series, which has a better panel than the one used in the ST and GT (as well as far more calibration settings). The Samsung D8000 plasma series is also excellent, right up there with the VT.
Eh, older iPod touches and iPhones don't get the same software features that the newer ones do. In the case of old iPod touches you can't even put the latest version of iOS on them. It's very similar to Android 1.6 > 2.1+ in this way.
Don't get me wrong, I don't like the practice at all, but...
You can't expect HTC to keep every Android phone they make up to date. From a business perspective, at some point you need to encourage users to upgrade. Apple does this all the time. Besides, the Eris was kind of an after-thought for Verizon since it was just a re-done Hero. The hardware was...
No, they only defaulted to Verizon Navigator. Google's Navigation program is there AFAIK, you just need to go into the settings and change the default navigation app.
Besides, most of the Google apps you can download from the Market incl. Google Search but that seems to a Froyo-only app...
Tethering is $20/month I think, 2GB cap (stupidly low).
You can technically tether without rooting using PDANet over USB and Verizon won't charge you, but you can't go crazy with the data usage. This is a breach of your contract also, but a lot of people do it, same with wireless tethering.
I would to be safe, but there's a thread on XDA that might have more info compared to when I wrote those instructions last night: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=770091
Don't wanna wait?
First, make sure in Settings > About Phone > Software Information it says 1.22.605.2 for your Software Version... if it says 1.22.605.0 don't use this just yet. Also, if you've modified anything from your 2.1 install (like removed City ID, etc) don't run this. You need to be...
They will only be using the AMOLED displays on the Incredible. Nothing has been changed and there's no indication it will.
The Sony LCDs are for newer Nexus Ones and HTC Desires. By switching those phones, they freed up enough screens for the Incredible.
Verizon deploys these in waves, and the first wave is usually small so just be patient. Or just get the newest leak off of the XDA forums. I'm 99% sure it's the same as the official OTA.
Fair point, except people usually keep phones for a long time (and 2-year contracts make it worse) so it's much better to future-proof by getting the phone with the far superior GPU because a year from now I expect the gaming situation on Android to be very different from where it is now.
No Incredibles with SLCD screens exist (and probably won't), they're all AMOLED. The Desire and the Nexus One will be switching to them if they haven't already. Telus is definitely getting Desires with SLCD screens. With these changes I think HTC believes they will have enough AMOLED displays to...
He might have listed it wrong, but his impressions of the 2005 are spot-on... it's still a good monitor, but it doesn't compare well to modern monitors even if it's still S-IPS.
I don't get the topic... if the rumored min. specs are true for Gingerbread, then the N1 is capable and would also probably be one of the first phones to get it...
It's not a fee tacked on for the "unlimited data", it's a $10 fee for simply owning the EVO, whether you're in a 4G market or not. You will be paying it.
Ya, task killers aren't necessary at all for the Incredible unless you need to force quit an app that is constantly crashing. Android does a very good job of managing apps and runstates, especially with the amount of RAM the Incredible has. This should get even better with the 2.2 update.
I just use one of the User modes and use my own RGB values according to what the calibration programs tell me is accurate. I think some people use Native and then let the program generate a profile based on whatever color temperature Native uses.
The sRGB mode is pretty accurate out of the box, at least on mine. I would really invest in a calibration device, though. It easily pays for itself over time, especially if you are serious about photography.
Ah, ok that makes more sense now. With haptic off, I literally can type random gibberish on the keyboard as fast as I can move my fingers with no slowdown. With it on, it slows down considerably doing the same test.
I honestly don't understand your complaints about a laggy typing experience on the Incredible. Typing is blazing fast for me and I've never had to wait for the phone to register input at all. The only limiting factor in how fast I can type on this phone is myself, not the hardware. This goes for...
Mine has this also. Checked it with one in-store and def. has a red white balance, but my screen looked sharper than the in-store model for some reason.
Uh, doesn't every phone they sell work on EVDO?
And their network/coverage is better.
edit - Ok I guess I'm wrong on the EVDO thing... wow some of these phones they sell are crap.
Ya, this place is infested with marketing people. Get a grip.
You think I'm taking this as some sort of personal attack? I couldn't care less about your problems with the monitor, just with the fact that you think it's a "turd", but I'm glad you got the attention you wanted by...
Ya, I'm sure your rant deserved it's own thread. Use the official thread, it's there for a reason.
I've got no idea why you're having issues with the anti-glare coating. Text is perfectly crisp on my monitor, especially compared to my friends 2209WA. The higher DPI of the NEC also helps in...
Just checked and 1080p24 won't work with the PS3 and this monitor. The PS3 still looks great in 1080p on this monitor, despite the lack of support for 72hz, though so don't let that put you off from using the PS3 with it.
You can upgrade once a year, although you won't get any sort of additional discount beyond the 2-yr new contract price. If you wait 2 years to upgrade you get an additional $50-$100 off (Verizon has been weird about this lately). If you want to get a new phone before your year is up you will...
