Honestly stick to GNS3 and IOU. With CCNA all you need is the Cisco Press cert guide and tons of subnetting practice. And for CCNP I can not think of a reason to get real hardware.
I have a surplus of Cisco IP phones that will not support 3rd-party SIP. Or even if they do, they are a pain to get the SIP firmware loaded.
And of course, Call Manager exposure looks more marketable than asterisk.
I ditch trixbox as my home pbx for PIAF for about a year and couldn't be happier. PiAF has a much better support community than trix.
I will be moving to Cicso CUCM soon but PIAF gave me my start in learning pbx.
Excellent. That is actually a very good point. I am cash strapped after this upgrade so I am afraid I can not cough up for the extra 3 HDDs. I think I am gonna go the route you suggested except adding another step of spreading my array data to individual 1TBs after the initial backup to 3 x...

I currently have 12 x 1TB HDDs in RAID6 configuration with an Areca 1231ML card. I am running out of drive space so I bought 12 x 3TB Hitachis.
Is it possible to replace a drive at a time in my existing array and rebuild (12 times)? Will the end result give me 30TB of storage or the...

I am getting ready to build a file server with an Areca 1220 card. Areca's official list is pretty outdated. ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO is the board I have my eyes on mainly because of the price. The only thing I care about is compatibility with the card.
Does anyone have any experience with this...
Spuds thanks for writing MIP.
Big fan of XBMC. Been using the Windows version for about 3 months, used XBOX XBMC for ...forever.
XBMC (Aeon, Horizonz, Mediastream) is hands down the best looking GUI on any HTPC.
I used CiscoWorks LMS 2.6 (or 3.0) for a couple years .. and hated it. Don't get me wrong I bleed Cisco teal ;) but CiscoWOrks is a POS. BTW it is being replaced by a different management suite soon and with our contract it will cost us $20k to upgrade to the lastest and greatest. I use...
Enterprise grade gear.
Some of us are willing to spend more to get that. In an enterprise you can't deploy a buffalo router flashed with a hacked firmware. You don't see medium/large businesses using ipcop/monowall either. If you are a geek that likes to tinker things then it's good for your...
