Looking at the panel with polarized glasses yields no anomalies. The panel evenly blacks out under a variety of background colors. The spots do not show up inconsistently from the rest of the panel. So what does that mean?
What I can do is swap in one replacement bulb and reassemble the display. If the back light is not uniform then I will replace all of the bulbs in one monitor and use the good pulls to fix the other. The other option is buying a CCFL bulb tester off eBay for around $50 and using that to power...
I disassembled one of the U2711 monitors today. It's not too bad, just a lot of wires, small parts, screws and clips to deal with.
My findings are that the LCD itself is fine. The issue is with the CCFL backlight diffuser panel. The U2711 has a vast array of U shaped CCFL bulbs. It seems...
I'll pull one of them apart tomorrow and see if I can find anything. I do agree that it looks like like light bleed thru from behind the screen. Otherwise the two displays are working nicely.
I bought a couple "B" grade U2711's to use as perimeter monitors in a 3xU2711 Eyefinity set up. My center display will be a brand new U2711 as I didn't want any defects, however for the outside monitors it was tolerable because they are not my primary focus.
The defects on both displays are in...
Guys,
Does anyone know if a quality sturdy mount for three 27" displays, specifically the U2711? I just bought three of them to connect to my new system running an ATI 6990.
I do fabricate and metal work so an alternative is me simply bending some tube and cutting brackets on my CNC...
In some Samsung HDTVs I've seen where the capacitors in the power supply circuity begin failing and it causes this type of problem. Can't say it's the same thing but it's possible.
Yeah when I bought my house recently I needed a bigger TV for my master bedroom. So I took my 37" Westy and hooked it to my HDTV service. Works well, I have no complaints. I ended up just sticking a 24" display on my computer.
Xbox 360 always looked good with no ghosting on my 37" Westy.
I picked one of these up today. So far, so good. Excellent display - big laptop though. I bought a $100 off Bestbuy laptops coupon from Ebay and got it for $1149 + $12 I paid for the coupon. So $88 extra off - I put that towards their accidental damage warranty for two years.
A lot of bang...
Guys,
I just went through and performed some upgrades on my main rig. I have the following items for sale as a result. Everything works great - I actually scaled back my video card for a 9600GT from Palit to cut on power use and heat generation. I will adjust prices if items do not sell - so...
If that happened to me, that PSU would be in the box already. No way I'd risk my home, or the rest of my gear to run 3dmark! AC power is nasty to mess around with and is not worth the risk.
Hopefully it's a learning experience. All of my important data resides on my RAID5 array - however I have a 1TB Hitachi drive that I also backup files to. I also use Data Backup PC to back up my array to an LTO3 tape drive. I'm a IT Manager tho, so I've learned over the years the importance...
I dropped a X3350 into a Asus P5E3 Deluxe WiFi board today and it's running great. Quad Priming at 3.2ghz, 1.17v indicated. Even speed step works to drop it to 2.4ghz at idle. :)
Seagate makes a good drive, but I had poor performance and other issues when running them in RAID5 on my Areca 1231ML. I sold them off and bought 8 Western Digital 750gb AAKA SE drives, and they are great. I just ordered another last night for a spare. Much quieter than the Seagate drives...
This is my second 680I - the original was the one without C2Q overclocking capabilities. The bios was older than P29 back then tho. I know a lot of people have had issues with this board, but for me it really has proven to be super stable. I believe heat plays a role in their demise, and with...
That was the kit I was going to get, but I did not like the timings. I felt I had more wiggle room with headroom in going with the tighter timing Patriots, then loosening the timings if I needed a higher OC.
That's so odd. I've not had any issues on my 680I with a 8800GTX. I've used every slot in the board and am running the P31 bios. I boot off of my Areca 1231ML - my OS and Storage all reside on the array in RAID5.
I'm about to swap my EVGA 680I out for a Asus P5E3 Deluxe, hopefully I don't run...
I posted a thread in this forum recently with the same question and most of the responses were pretty disappointing. I got financial advice, which made my question the users on this forum, because this is a enthusiasts forum. Anyhow, the best price I found was at ClubIT.com...
I agree with the recommendation of the Super Micro bays. I run two of them with a total of 9 drives, and they work nicely. I installed quieter 92x25mm fans tho.
That's a good controller, but it will not be as fast. However it should still offer excellent performance if you want to save the money. Cooling wise, if the 1220 will fit, it has the advantage of active cooling. Shoe horning the 1231ML between two SLI cards without direct cooling is asking...
I really like the card. I recommend you pick up a PC-4200 1gb DDR2 ECC Non Buffered DIMM. This is the exact DIMM I purchased for my card and it works perfectly:

I personally use Western Digital 750gb AAKS SE drives, and they run...
I'll post back once I get the system up and running. I should have the board in about a week, the memory and Toughpower 1200 should be here by mid week, and the CPU is supposed to ship on the 17th. There was a time when I had to save every dollar, and the thought of buying a high end part for...
Well you can buy PERC cards all day long. At my work we run a Hitachi and EMC Storage Area Networks, tho on certain servers we order internal storage to keep it off the SAN.
A lot of factors need to be considered in a storage sub-system. If you are looking to build a direct attached solution...
Thanks for the suggestions. I did some additional research and found the Patriot Viper 1333 4gb kit from Clubit for $379. Price wise, that was close to the best deal I could find. Newegg had the same kit for $474... ouch. I went ahead and purchased that kit to get me started and if I like...
I'm not angry so I apologize if I came across that way. I came here asking for a recommendation on DDR3, not a recommendation on how to save money tho. This is an enthusiasts forum right? Some people have to move forward at some point with newer stuff and to me I'm doing a 18-24 month upgrade...
I've had DDR2 since it was first introduced and guess what, it cost me then too. I don't regret it tho - I use my computer a great deal. I guess working with enterprise hardware on a daily basis makes me a bit numb to the differences in pricing. Too many people worry too much about other...
I'm having great fun, thanks. Also does $379 for 4gb of Patriot Viper DDR3 1333 = $1000 in your book? It sure does not in mine. I've been building computers for 17 years, trust me, these days it's CHEAP compared to when I started out. I think people forget that sometimes, and focus too much...
I just purchased a slightly used Asus P5E3 Deluxe motherboard since I got it for $199 and that seemed like a decent price for a complete with box board. I was going to go with the DFI X48 or the Asus P5E3 Premium, but this came along at a decent discount. I already have a Q9450 on pre-order...
I've used the BB coupons two days in a row. I bought the 1TB drive yesterday, and today I bought the 200gb Hitachi External, 2.5". I got one of those for $116.99 for a 200gb 7200rpm SATA laptop drive. Installed in my Mac Mini 1.83ghz Core 2 Duo, and upgraded to a DVD+RW, with 2gb RAM at the...
I pulled the drive out of the enclosure last night and put it in one of my Supermicro 5x3 hot swap bays connected to an Areca 1231ML RAID card. I just created a pass thru for that non-raid drive. I copied 400gb to the drive and was seeing 69-91MB/Sec in Vista X64 for writes. Drive runs only a...
I've been using my Westinghouse 37W3 via HDMI on my Xbox 360. Forza 2 looks great at 1920x1080. It's not the best display in the world, but I do not see any ghosting or lagging, and everything looks great to me.
I've got eight of the Western Digital 750gb drives on my Areca 1231ML controller. They run great in RAID5 - much faster and more stable than the Segate 7200.10 drives I was previously using. I would recommend them without hesitation, plus they are extremely quiet and run cooler then the...
