well, from personal experience, i dont know how good a passive cooler is either.
i have a radeon 8500 aiw in a shuttle, and last summer the fan broke. I couldnt find a replacement that would fit, so I slapped a passive zalman on there. now, less then a year later, I'm getting random...
thanks for all the help guys. comcast's supplied cable modems are com21, but they have a list of cable modems confirmed to work with their service, and the linksys cable modem/router/wireless g gateway is on there, so I think I'll go with that. It doesn't sound like it makes much if a...
they look badass, but i would think that they would have more complex loading/unloading mechanisms and would jam up more, and the fact that there arent more on the market kinda leads me to believe that is true
So, I'm getting comcast 4mbps down, 256 mbps up cable internet service starting next Tuesday, and I have 3 options when it comes to the cable modem: rent one from them for $4 a month, buy theirs for $20, or supply my own. So, if nothing else, I'll buy theirs for $20 as it'll pay for itself in 5...
yes, yes, yes, and yes ;-)
the only problem I had was that my shuttle would not even post with my audigy 2 in it. i was never able to figure out what the problem was.
the specs say 41mm deep, and i dont think i have 4 cm between the card and the side of the shuttle
edit - i just measured, and whatever i find cannot be more than 10mm deep
my radeon's hsf is failing; the fan is grinding and spinning at like half speed. occasionally i get random restarts, and i'm pretty sure its from the gpu overheating. its extremely hot to the touch. is there any replacement i can buy for this thing, and how do i get the old one off? it looks...
supposedly this is a standard audio connector, but none of the 5 cables i have fit it. am i missing something? its the regular 4-pin connector, like you would see going from a cd drive to the internal sound plug. i even tried shaving off plastic to make it fit, and it didnt work. is this...
So I finished my shuttle system, specs in sig. opened case today to temporarily attach a laptop hd w/ ide to copy a large amount of files I had backed up and touched raptor to see how the temps were, and it is extremely hot. hot enough to where i cant comfortably keep my finger on it. think...
so i just finished my new shuttle system:
sn52g2
2.8C
wd raptor 36gb
wd 100gig se
lite-on combo cdrw/dvdrom
2x512 corsair xms
ati aiw 8500
and my audigy 2...
so after initial install, everything was pretty good... installed video card drivers, and on every boot after that the system...
i also read someplace that intel was going to incorporate a large amout of the tech from the pentium M (centrino) into the desktop chips... so a 64 bit chip with centrino technology to reduce power consumption and heat... sounds like a winner
i just finished setting up my sn52g2, and so far i like it a lot. only problem i had was my audigy 2 not working in it, it wouldnt even post with teh audigy in. not sure what thats about, but the onboard sound is pretty good for the time being.
for some reason i just ended up getting the proc like a week before the rest of the system and just wondered if anyone had any experience with certain steppings or whatnot before my system came in and i could actually try it.
sorry for asking, if you think my asking is a waste of time then...
radeon 8500 all in wonder.
downloaded entire package and installed, now aiw functions do not work and video is extremely laggy. it takes a couple of seconds just to open the start menu. tried to uninstall and go back to the 4.1s, but it didnt help.
suggestions? this is pissing me off.
my comp survived 6 inches of water during a flood, 5-6 drops wont do anything. you could probably submurge a mobo in water as long as you waited for it to dry long enough. as long as its dry, you're fine.
