No, thank God (bear in mind that a full server at peak time has somewhere around 1500-2000 players, unsure of the exact number).
There is no verbal communication of any kind allowed between the two factions, Horde and Alliance.
You get local chat in various channels (General, LocalDefence...
It will work eventually. The new map de_tides is IMHO a lot of fun, very fast paced and good looking too. The bots talk a load of rubbish and won't shut up, but thankfully most servers have turned them off it seems (although it is quite funny watching people try to have a conversation with...
Bah, if you've never touched your core then you've never lived... :p
On-topic, 99% isopropyl alcohol is the best thing to use if you can get hold of it. Just wear gloves and work in a well-ventilated room...
Or at least any board that will run a Winchester:

This is interesting. If dual-core desktop chips aren't due until next year, then this postpones the introduction of...
Bear in mind that in Steam Vivendi are seeing the seeds of their own doom. Online distribution of media is the future, and Steam is the beginning of that.
I dare say that Vivendi wouldn't mind a few spanners in the system at this point...
/conspiracy mode off
I think the point is that those of us who bought HL2 over Steam knew that we wouldn't be able to play the game immediately. Hell, when I paid for it there wasn't even a confirmed release date. This is fine - I knew the score before I coughed up.
The people that are buying Half Life 2 in...
Mine does the exact same thing. PS1 Dual Shock controller, I got my adapter here in the UK, it carries the Game brand, I've no idea who made it.
I thought I was the only one...
edit: That one from play.com isn't the one I have, but the symptoms are *exactly* the same. Hmmm....
Motherboard sat on a nice piece of cardboard,
CPU and heatsink (the heatsink is very important - if you're inexperienced enough to ask if the system needs RAM installed to boot, then this needs to be spelled out. The heatsink will need to be installed correctly and its fan will need to be...
This is the correct checksum according to neowin and elsewhere. It is the version I have (also from SN), and does appear to be build 2180. Haven't installed it yet, I'll probably try it on my laptop first before it goes onto my main system.
Yeah, I'd happily buy a Lite-On drive again.
Also, my Plextor drive is locked at 2x for ripping, but as it turns out there's a cunning hack to get around it: If you press and hold the eject button for three seconds, the LED will flash three times and unlock the full speed extraction. It's a...
DVD-ROM drives are pretty much commodity items nowadays. Whatever you choose should Just Work without any problems. You don't get any head-to-head comparisons of floppy drives these days either... ;)
My Lite-On 16x drive worked fine for two years before I replaced it with a Plextor 8x...
I'd be extremely suspicious of the power supply, your 12v line does seem very low. Not to mention the fact that it's happening when you're really stressing the system (ie playing games).
I've been running 1Gb for well over a year now.
I don't need more memory, but I do need faster memory. The stuff I have now (Crucial PC2700) is great at stock speeds but isn't stable above 172 fsb...
If the core is square it's a Palomino. If it's rectangular it's a thoroughbred. But being made in 2001 it's definitely a Palomino. The AGNGA is apparently a good stepping as well.
Looks like you have a dead chip on your hands...

Prime95 is thine overclocking God. Thou shalt worship it and obey it. Let no false idol or vile naysayer distract thee from the One True Faith.
Seriously, your PC works or it doesn't. It can do sums or it can't. What are we arguing about again?
IIRC, the Via KT333 boards didn't unlock the higher multipliers (edit: or even any multipliers). You'd need an NForce2 board to get access to them all. The Abit NF7-S is really cheap right now...
Definitely get a quality PSU.
80 GB of storage might be a little light for 3D work, especially with the price of hard drives nowadays. 512Mb of RAM is definitely not enough if you're serious about the 3D. Even gaming benefits from 1GB these days.
All I've done is agree with the above...
1. If you mod something, or overclock something, the warranty for that part is toast.
2. That Intel motherboard is excellent but will give you *zero* options when it comes to overclocking.
3. That video card is mediocre at best so your gaming needs had better be light. Doom3/HL2 need not...
The P4 is bandwidth starved and needs dual channel for best performance. Get 2x256 unless you're intending to buy a second 512Mb stick in the near future for 1Gb dual channel goodness...
