Wait, so even though I have a card that has had these features but crippled...now unlocked...I still have to pay $$ to use the decoder that enables them?
This kinda got lost in all the DS stuff last week. Shows how first person shooter games benefit from the touchscreen on the Nintendo DS. No more wonky analog stuff that we've seen in all console games...
Yeah, when you boot the DS you get a screen with icons of the various games in the system as well as the game currently inside the system. you also have other options like going to chat, etc etc

Also, it seems that the DS can...
Of course can't forget Mario 64 - DS ;)
It's mario 64 with a twist. You have multiplayer + the single player has been modified so that you can play multiple characters ala super-mario-bros-2 -- each character has their own special abilities.
It's official: Metroid Prime Hunters Multuplayer Demo will be bundled for free w/ the system.
So it's recap:

Well from Tech-Report benches, IMO, nvidia is still the one to get this generation. a 6800GT will spank ati in doom3, and has identical performance in HL2 with the x800 Pro. Not to mention PS3.0 support for games coming down the pipe later
Some of you are forgetting the fact that CS:Source doesn't really do much in terms of effects. The beta is very basic, in fact it looks like CS with higher-res textures. Half-Life 2, with all its bells and whistles, may perform VERY differently.
from a 9800? Go with the GT. The 6800nu renders almost just as fast as the GT, it's just you can't get super-high-resolutions or high-res w/ AA since the card is only 128mb
everyone will have to upgrade again a year from now for Unreal 2 -- regardless if they have a nu, ultra, or GT
I disagree. I think the 6800 did very well considering it's a 128mb card. 65fps @ 1024x768 4xAA@8xAF is pretty damn good for a 128mb card I have to say. The benches show that it can render just as fast as the big boys up until texture-thrashing takes over and it has to dump data to the system...
