its only 30% faster than a ultra cause its using 256 bit busses, and 512 ram on each card.
Im willing to bet a true 8800gtx or ultra sli setup will smoke this thing at high resolutions.
imho anyway.
everything runs fine at stock though?
How are your temps.
If everything runs fine at stock you don't have a bad card.
Video cards will usually give errors if overclocked. They either show artifacts from overclocked memory or they simply lock up and require a rebbot from overclocked cores.
If...
10% what games are you playing?
Look at reviews at trusted sites just type in 8800gtx sli review in google.
Many games are 40 to 60% higher and alot more than that at 1920 x 1200 with 4xaa.
If you like eyecandy its worth it, i love my slied 8800gtx's.
Try playing a game at 1920 x 1200 with...
well you can set it by making sure direct fan control is selected in ntune and then clicking the second card on the drop down menu.
Unfortunately it will not stick on reboot.
For some reason nvidia has made it impossible to set fan speeds that stick upon reboot in sli systems.
It has been a...
there is also a bug in the newest nvidia drivers, they may say(in the games profiles section of the cp) that they have defaulted to single gpu when in fact they are using the custom sli setting, go to sli forums to read about it.
don't listen to anyone that says that cpu is holding you back it isn't ...period.
Only thing those faster cpu's do is give bigger epeens for 3dmark.
In games a quad core at 3.6ghz is only .2 % faster than a x2 6000+ at 1920 x 1200 rez, check it out at firing squad.com they have a good article...
glad to see its worked out hopefully the dumbasses at Fedex don't charge brokerage seeing as how its ground shipping.
I know they shouldnt as its a rma but they can be a pain.
GG EVGA thanks for the fast updates.
Lets put it this way, i have 2 8800 gtx's in sli and i am still bottlenecked by my video cards in most games i play, crysis, cod4 etc.
If i drop my rez down to 1280 etc i get better frames which means im gpu bound not cpu bound.
what rez do you game at?
If you are gaming at any resolution higher than 1600 x 1200 with that card there is no was your cpu is holding you back.
It has been shown over and over that in modern games at high rez it is strictly the gpu that bottle necks the system...see crysis for example.
Go...
pathetic? Not if you happen to be one of the people with 1920 x 1200 displays that actually wants to use 4xaa and 1920 rez.
Both crossfire and sli were 70 to 100% faster in almost all the pertenant benchmarks and at that rez you start getting into memory bandwidth limitations that sli'ed...
People read the thread or don't post.
The brokerage etc is included in evga's shipping cause its not standard ground.
Neither fedex nor ups charge brokerage on anything but standard ground.
The issue is Evga coming in and trying to play us like they are doing as well as they can and we all...
Bottom line is this, if other companies can do RMA's for free or minimal charges evga can eat some of this cost, i don't want to hear any more crap about shipping.
If your product is defective for whatever reason why should anyone have to pay 60 bucks and up to get a replacement.
BFG covers...
i don't have a 680i motherboard but sli was the only way to go for me.
A 1920 x1200 rez i couldnt put aa on in many games with a single gtx now i can crank it and all is well.
Its really a eye candy and rez thing if you don't use alot of aa and high rez pass on it.
i can't get it to run its broken.
I get a 110 error in vista.
You can unpack it in winrar but all you get is 4 useless files...weird.
Why can't it just be a damn .easy to use exe
express shipping is usually around 20 bucks depending on item. Basically these companies do their brokerage in house etc for all the other shipping methods but use a weird set-up when traveling by standard ground.
Its something ive figured out and never had a problem with since i have.
If you like high Rez gaming with high resolutions sli works fine. Mind you, you need to be able to do a little tweaking of profiles once and awhile to get sli working properly in some games but for the most part it works fine.
I also have a dell 24 incher with a native 1920 x 1200 rez and i...
Apparently no one read my post.
UPS AND FEDEX do NOT charge any brokerage or extra taxes etc on any type of package unless it is shipped by standard shipping, ground.
All the express etc shipping includes these costs, so please take that off the table.
For UPS this list includes. "UPS...
Go to ups.com there express shipping includes all brokerage fee's etc so thats not the issue.
The issue is if ups or whoever they ship with has increased shipping twofold in 2 weeks.
Its either yes they have or no they havent.
If they havent then Evga is making some extra money at our...
yeah this concerns me also, i have bought 4 evga cards in the last year and if they continue with this i will stop buying there.
Shipping a card from the us to here is easy and if they use ups express its not expensive and includes all brokerage charges etc.
If they use usps its the same only...
yeah alot of people bought new card lately i hope it comes out in early feb also.
Would really suck to not be able to use step up within a week or so of a new product coming out.
On another note, has anyone done step up for a brand new line of cards immediately on realease?
How long does it...
last one i saw as at firing squad and showed almost identical vista and xp performance which is what im seeing also.
I have vista/xp dual booted with 169.12 drivers.
"How do you know when it's even bottlenecked?"
Like i said raise your resolution and aa if your fps goes down you are gpu bottlenecked, if it doesnt go down you are cpu limited.
Pretty straight forward.
Thats a simplification but very easy to understand.
i agree with the last post, most important thing is to have good airflow to the cards, i have a case with a side window and a fan that brings frsh air directly to the cards from the side, it helps alot.
Blowing air onto the cards doesnt help much cause the cards are all covered by the cooler...
I wasn't inferring it was a "gpu killing game" and it was a bad example, call of juarez is better.
Just the fact that if you crank up any kind of aa and rez your uber processor will not help you much if you have at least a 5400+ etc.
The new $1200.00 quad cores are for epeens and other...
Yeah this debate goes on all the time and kiddies with $4000.00 dollar dell 720h2o rigs like to think the extra money they spent makes a big difference in games so they tell people they must upgrade their processors to take advantage of newer video cards.
If you play at any kind of high rez 99%...
Well i havent been playing crysis because the patch is suppose to be out soon, but i do disagree about games not having to be coded for sli. They do not have to be but there is a big improvement when they are.
Crytek has a patch coming out which adds extra support for sli and its needed. Many...
well in truth the actual performance is pretty huge when it works in some games its night and day. I like to play with 8xaa and 4xaa minumum. At 1920 x 1200 rez the only way to do that is sli.
In many games at those resolutions and aa the difference is 70% faster and up.
In others its only 40%...
i have 2 8800 gtx's in sli and i like them, but it takes alot of work to get the performance out of them making profiles for them etc.
Most games never come with a working sli profile out of the box etc and require drivers or patches.
Crysis is one of them, if i was you i would wait for the...
They all use different modes, usually they have custome modes for each game in the profile section of the nvidia cp.
Don't change ones that have custome profiles. With games that don't have sli profiles i use afr2 alot.
im seeing a 45% increase but the really important thing is that my minimum frames have doubled. The higher the rez and aa the more the sli will increase its always been like that.
these seem like vista and sli drivers cause i saw no real improvements in xp but my minimum frames in crysis with vista went up almost 50% so im real happy with them. Happy with my sli 8800gtx's now can finally put some aa on at 1920 x 1200
if you want to game at high rez with any kind of aa sli will help alot, if you are gaming under 1920 1200 then sli won't help much pretty simple.
There has been numerous threads and articles pointing out that at high rezzez you are completely gpu bound and no matter how fast your processor goes...
if they are not in stock you can still step up. so whats the problem?
Lots of stores go out fo stock. it happens.
FYI when you step up your date counts as soon as a new card is available. As long as you have applied for step up within your 3 months it doesnt matter how long it takes them to...
that cpu is plenty for crysis and newer games, did any of you read the posts about cpu scaling?
There was absolutely no gain from a better cpu at 1920 and above with not to mention any aa.
Go to firing squad and check it out.
Basically if you game at high rezzzes with a widescreen monitor and...
