That is an option that I looked into as well. However, it looked like the access points were twice the price of the router equivalent with less features. It didn't seem to make sense to buy an access point when I could just use a router for the same purpose. Is an access point a better option?

yeah i turned the firewall off already... as far as the workgroup goes, this is where i'm having the problem...because both devices are configured differently...one is on a workgroup setup...and the other is on a domain...trying to get those two to talk is the hard part.

Well, it's a Netgear FVL328. It's pretty configurable, but I would definitely still classify it as a SOHO router. Feel free to check it out here. It's certainly one of Netgear's top routers.
