I don't know if this makes a difference. But how come you're using Asus bridges when you have gigabyte motherboard? I never tried using different bridges, but it could potentially be a problem. I would just try one and see if it works.

Look into getting either EVGA or MSI. Don't bother with Asus because of their horrible rma service, and PNY is not really that popular anyway. First choice for me would be EVGA, then MSI, then Gigabyte I guess.

It's sad that Asus have these shitty techs who break people's equipment just to deny their claim. Hopefully OP can get them to replace the card. If not, look into buying more reputable company with better warranty like EVGA :)

I use to buy Maxtors and Seagates. I believe most of them died. The last drive I remember died was Western Digital raptor 36gb. It was the only WD that actually died. I have all Western Digital drives now and Corsair SSD. Love them :)

Is your CPU at stock speed? and 2x 980ti's should have higher score.
