Could be the 720i issue you're thinking of? With TVs that only support 720i and the PS3 not outputting to that and people getting screwed by games that don't support other resolutions? that's the only issue I've heard about with PS3 and HD tvs.

I actually set the volume on the monitor to 85% before I even tried the "sound" of it. Mainly because I just figured the default 50% wasn't going to be enough. They're "enough" but certainly not loud like powered speakers.
