That sucks big time. One would have thought since the P5K-VM edges out the G33M this time it will be the same? This is so stupid. I guess they think people won't be buying the G31 boards for overclocking? This could have been one cheap board with discrete PCIe video and mild overclocking...
Canada Computers is showing to have the Asus version of the G31 board in stock. I wonder if the Asus BIOS from G33 carry over and can give us the magical 1:1 ratio?
How long before any of you guys can get your hands on one for some testing?
Seconded.
That's what I did, I installed and started to run another client for the [H]orde. I just get back to work and do the most important thing: not letting my idle cycles go to waste!
So how about: "one team, one official project, anything else you are on your own, but we won't stop you"?
The key points here are "officially supported", and "we won't stop you from doing another project in the [H]orde's name". Is that ok with you? Can't we all just get along? ;)
Actually, it is quite clear, except for one minor detail. ;)
In the past, even the mentioning of a 2nd project will get you the lock stick, massive flaming, labelling as "negative influence", plus a few other bad things.
What I would like is that regardless of a 2nd "official" project...
I think we are sort of agreeing with each other, I think. :p
That seemed to have been decided with the poll. The direction is one official team in FAH. That's why I posted, basically accepting the results, but suggesting that there will be enough people who want to do another project that we...
I voted WCG as I felt the need to be counted, but missed the chance to post in that thread. I have to say I agree quite a bit what uzor said, especially his summary points.
I hate to drag out history because it will show that I'm old. :) But here's the historical background: it did not work...
I don't see any reason why people who actively manage their farms will not switch over to FAH while the decision is being made either. If they care enough about contributing something, are within their power to make a change relatively quickly, and don't have personal/technical reasons to not...
Well, thank you for your 14 million points of contribution too. You, SuperMen and Amy are all leaders. :)
Now I just need to figure out what to do with my Celeron [email protected], and I'm sure it will be one of the medically related ones.
My $0.02:
Gauge more reaction from more UD team members
Pick a couple (may be 3) of projects that most will want to move to
Present the alternatives to Kyle for his blessing
A front page call to arms to get it started
If Kyle said "no, let's all go FAH", then this 2nd team thing may not have...
Robbie mentioned before that they literally had to shout at Oxford to give them new data, and that they are still sifting through all the generated data. I guess a combination of lack of funding, Oxford got somewhat satisfied by the project, aging equipment (remember the meltdown 2 years ago?)...
Good thing I passed 2 mil earlier this week, but I guess it's not meant to be that I get the 3.5mil required for my lifetime subscription to GenMay. :D
Thank you all for the 'grats. I post too infrequently to be recognized these days. Kind of like visiting an old school I have been to. :)
I was referring to the grid.org status update on their forums. Even if I didn't check in here, I'll check the grid.org forums to see if there's anything...
Man, I can't even find this thread even going to the last page of the thread listing!
Oh well, Search found it for me, and here I am. Just checking in because I have reached 2 mil. :D
Now here comes the "but" part:
- is anyone concerned with the lack of status update?
- is anyone...
ClearType can be configured by using the TweakUI I think. So you can adjust the degree of "blurriness".
IE can change text size too. View -> Text Size, or Ctrl+scroll wheel.
Those E* are rebadged ancient Viewsonics. Don't get them.
Keep in mind though, like the 1907FP, you need to win the Samsung lottery. If you get an AU Optronics panel it is not so good either. But at CAD$219 when I bought it, nothing comes close with DVI input.
Anyway, the next Dell...
I just got my Dell 1707FP for CAD$219 during one of Dell deals days. I got the Samsung panel like in the case of the 1907FP and it is pretty good. Very minor banding and good 8ms response time. Not to mention cheap with DVI! :)
If there is enough interest I can do a review in a separate...
Hey hey I know something too. :p I have a box running headless for 4+ years and still running (box upgraded but it is still the same).
Yup, you should do that. :)
UD does not have an automatic mass installer available publicly, and UD still has that annoying "register again" problem in case...
Getting yourself up to speed on the panel types, response times, backlight issues are ok 1 year ahead, but actual models? I don't think so. There is even a small chance that we have SEDs to play with in a year's time. So don't bother. Even the 2405FPW gets an update after the success it has...
Well, then the NEC is out. Without reading his other thread I don't know his budget. The brief mention of the 3007 led me to think he has a large budget...
The NEC is getting all the attention now.

But it is almost twice the price.
This statement is only true when you apply 2 more qualifiers:
Dell makes the best gaming LCDs for the price when they are on sale.
If you are looking at FPS and other fast games, response time is king, Dells are not quite sub 8ms yet, while Viewsonic and Samsung have 2ms - 4ms models out...

That is odd. Robby reported in saying that they have rolled back the router changes that caused the problems in the first place. I would suggest trying again.
