OK sure, that is one "Opinion" from a freelance journalist, it is not even that publication's position.
I appreciate that brightness is important but from a point onwards diminishing returns set in, noone likes their retinas being under constant strain.
I need to keep my PG32UQX at a 80 - 90 cm...
Respectfully disagree, I have an LG C1 48 sitting right next to my PG32UQX and it is plenty impressive.
True, I prefer HDR on the PG32 but the LG also gives me less grief overall and is certainly a much better value and allround proposition.
But it is also not a monitor and in my view it...
Yeah yeah, they always confirm it's a "hardware error" and then send you a replacement with the same "hardware error".
Their after sales service is decentralised to the point of absolute disintegration, it's like addressing an entity with no central nervous system and all neurons running loops...
Seriously people need to stop these OLED vs LCD arguments. Personal preferences should not be put to debate.
If you need to aggressively point out to others how poor their buying decision was for the purpose of justifying your own buying decision (more to yourself than anyone else really), you...
As Hypez said these are worse case scenarios and tolerance will vary from person to person.
I RMA'd mine and got a unit that was worse.
So I returned it and kept the original unit because after some research I was convinced that these were design issues and not isolated manufacturing errors.
And...
If you see the glow around crosshairs you will see it on starry skyes and the like, there is no way around it.
You might not be sensitive to it, you might have bias lights behind your monitor making it less noticable, you might not be playing games where these scenarios have come up yet, etc...
The fact that this monitor with all its flaws is the best you can get at the moment speaks volumes about how far the monitor industry has to go.
If you want to wait it's definitely an option but keep in mind that it might take a while...
In the meantime, let me know where you keep your trash, I...
Nope.
Yellow banding on both my original and the replacement unit in certain scenarios, see attached.
Blooming was comparable and even slightly worse on the replacement unit but I think this was perhaps due to a gamma negative bias in that unit (was producing gamma 2.1 instead of intended 2.2...
I think ASUS service did not get the memo on their own monitor.
Your monitor is not defective, that is how FALD works on this monitor on these multiple-bright-spots-on-dark-background scenarios.
You either live with it as it is great outside those worse-case scenarios or you get another...
Just to say that the 0:04 and 0:03 scenes have a significant difference in haloing for me (see attached), meaning that I see almost no haloing at 0:03 (especially in person) but one of the worse case scenarios at 0:04.
I agree however that haloing always looks much worse in the pictures than in...
Thanks for clarifying all that, my picture was taken with Option 3 for FALD.
It's a shame to see how much better ASUS could have made the PG32UQX since there is this dramatic difference in haloing with the PA when it is in fact the same panel.
Even though overall I like the monitor...
What? When did I say that you cannot compare photos?? You must be thinking of another user.
I am not disputing any of the points you made, the PA32UCG clearly looks better than the PG32UQX and, by its very design, the OLED 32EP950 is the best at least for this scenario.
It's just that I found...
I was under the impression that PG27UQ would have less haloing to be honest because I have seen a lot of people discrediting PG32UQX reviews and saying that haloing is actually worse on the PG32UQX.
Some good news from ASUS Switzerland customer service, it appears that they come and deliver a replacement unit to your home at the same time they pick up the RMA'd unit.
Not too shabby, ASUS...
Thank you for your meaningful contribution.
For step 7 can you clarify, do you put the VR headset on the genitalia?
Because I can definitely see blooming when I do that.
I would post pictures but, you know..
ProKable, when performing the test did you:
1. first put the brightness at 100%,
2. closed OSD,
3. reopened OSD (which stays very bright) and then
4.put brightness down to 0%?
Because mine looks like yours when I just turn down the brightness to 0% (also no haloing) without doing all the...
Okay, first I thought you couldn't speak English very well but, I'm sorry, I don't see how much more fluent you can get!
Second, I live in Switzerland so I might need your contacts at Asus Switzerland now that I am RMA'ing to maybe get a couple of bad replacements only instead of, say, a dozen...
ProKable, thank you for the test and screenshot, this definitely settles it, I have submitted an RMA for mine.
Happy to see that there are at least some units that perform as they should, I might need to go through a couple of replacements but hopefully I will get there in the end...
I get that.
I was still on a PG348Q with horrible IPS glow and uniformity (although colours were very nice and it is a great monitor for working from home).
When playing Dead Space I was more appalled by the IPS glow than the necromorphs. You cannot dismember the IPS glow...
So after > 5 years...
Update from Asus support on the yellow reflection issue (attached image).
They initially said this was normal, they now acknowledge the defect:
thank you for contacting the Asus support
After viewing the attachments sent, I invite you in this case to activate the repair procedure (RMA)
I sent...
Nope. When you're in it for 3500 bucks you tend to cover that sort of thing as a first resort, to make sure you're getting your full money's worth.
I could have sworn though I saw the same issue in the reviewer's unit in the youtube video of the review referenced by DarkSideA8, when he was...
ok, and here is ASUS support response when I sent them one of the attachments with the yellow reflections:
in relation to the request I inform you that since it is an ips type screen it is normal that there is some blooming or banding in the white writings, it is intrinsic in the...
It really feels like it to me. I cannot think what could possibly cause this behaviour in some units and not others unless they have used completely different components or something.
Since I have limited time to dance the RMA dance only to find myself in a worse position than I am now, I will...
Like clockwork, good spot Hypez...
Not convinced that only some units have this issue.
Stuck leds and bright spots in random places (or even recurring at weak points) are one thing, this looks like a design issue.
I'm with you on the price point. It's odd however that two users get the exact same "defect" on different parts of the panel, unless this is a manufacturing design issue which should affect all users.
Are you sure you cannot replicate? You need to scroll slowly to that specific post with the...
