Well, I imagine nobody's looking at this thread anymore, but I figured out what's going on
When i set the RGB mode to a static color, or strobe effect or various other "easy" settings, everything coordinates perfectly fine (so obviously the RGB addressing is working well)
It's only when set to...
It looks exactly like that in aura sync for me (but with the RAM/strip still not working)
i let it go for a week or so to just enjoy the new build but will get back to trying to tackle this tonight
I'm debating buying this as I still have some vibration: https://www.amazon.ca/Almencla-Computer-Supply-Vibration-Silicone/dp/B07VZ9NFZK/ref=sr_1_48?dchild=1&keywords=Power+supply+vibration+absorber&qid=1612798302&sr=8-48
Panel is in the case as per typical installation
the rubber pads were my attempt at prevening the metal panel from causing a vibration against the top and bottom (also metal) - the vibration originates from the PSU (just a theory) or something else but the metal "carries" it and then the hum...
3x WD Green (5400 RPM) and 1x WD Blue (i think it's also 5400 RPM?) they are all quite old
i don't want to rip the case open at the moment but i'll annote the other pic I sent in a sec
i noticed my case came with a couple little 3M strips of rubber i put one at the top and bottom of the panel and re-installed it - so far so good but it's only been like 2 minutes
also note that for me at least (probably everybody?) that metal panel touches the PSU unit a bit...so supports the...
i took this thing out and so far i've only heard the faintest of hum - barely even noticeable
so i'm closer - obviously this metal panel wasn't the cause of the hum but it was helping amplify/spread it
Agreed - will be my project during/after my 1:30 meeting. I suspect the PSU is a good chance the culprit as it's old whereas everything else is brand new. GPU is old too i guess but vibration happens even when GPU fans aren't running
I've been reading a bit that the vibrations from hard drives can travel through the case due to the way the hot-swap cradles are connected - so I'm going to try taking all 4 drives out tomorrow and seeing if that helps (my 4 hard drives are all just raw storage...SSD does the actual work so...
Does anyone have this case and experience a pulsing humming sound - seemingly caused by vibration of some kind?
I've been feeling around in there all day trying to pinpoint this hum and I just can't seem to figure it out - driving me nuts
I've tried tightening all the fans or even just...
Thanks for your response!! I'm glad there is a possible scenario where all this gets worked out. At this point a windows re-install is a step I'm unwilling to take as the cost/benefit to going through all that again isn't there for me - i'm going to keep trying everything I can short of that...
Temps are (in my opinion good and room for some OC which I will do in a few weeks)
Interestingly I've noticed that games don't run up temperatures as much as certain other things...2 examples...
In games with heavy play (Elder Scrolls Online which is hard on CPUs) I haven't gone past 62deg...
In this pic everything is cycling through the rainbow but at the point where i snapped the pic obviously the fans, pump and ROG are all synchronized perfectly while the strip and RAM...are not
Thanks for the tip - openRGB didn't seem to see the TridentZ Neo either (or the addressable strip for the Lian Li case) :(
Armoury Crate (Aura) actually sees both, they just don't illuminate similarly to the rest of the components - maybe that's just like...the best they can do for syncing...
I'm also noticing this with the LED strip on the Lian Li 011 Dynamic XL - it has the RGB colors as per the buttons i press to set them...but don't appear to be controlled by the motherboard
Thank you for your reply!!
One thing I've tried so far that hasn't truly helped but did well...provide some information is I uninstalled armoury crate (which bundles the aura sync functionality within itself) as well as the various little plugins that it throws in the add/remove programs...
I just completed my build - in context for this question it's a Dark Hero motherboard and a 4-DIMM set of Trident Z Neo ram
I'm noticing the RGB on the ram isn't syncing with the ASUS aura sync software (it's RGB rainbow...but not in sync with the fans and other items). I googled that a bit and...
I managed to fit the entirety of my question in the title :P
I'm looking at picking this up tomorrow but want confidence it'll work with Asus Aura Sync as that is what I'm looking to use to control all my RGB
in my lifetime I have purchased exactly 3 corsair products and all 3 have failed on me - i said never again before this thing but caved when i saw a good deal at my local shop - but going forward it's a very very true "never again" on corsair
(other 2 products were some Dominator Ram from the...
I just installed a brand new Corsair H115i RGB PRO XT AIO and when i went to hook up the usb connector to the pump i noticed the cable seemed awfully loose for a usb connection - upon closer inspection the "female" portion of the connector is...not there (probably knocked loose within the pump)...
I popped by my local memory express (canada) today to pick up some ARGB fans and they allowed me to back order the 5900x - they told me I am #37 in line at that store and that if i find one somewhere else no penalty to me they'll just stock it
I like seeing these posts just for the sake of reminding myself that to some small extent...the chips DO actually exist
as of tomorrow I'll be 2 full months of checking constantly at any place I would actually buy one from - have never seen a single one in stock for even a second (canada) :(
I ordered 2 sets of 3 InWin Saturn 120s
I need an individual one for the back but I can't seem to find a single unit at my etailers/retailers
I'm sure I can just put a different one in for that spot tho
I know it's just marketing speak but the first blurb on that product page is this:
Modular Connector Design
Our patented modular connector design daisy-chains the fans together, making cable management quick, easy, and clean.
Any opinions on these? I like the way they showcase the RGB better and they seem faaaar cheaper than the Lian Li UNIs: https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=8_130&item_id=183879
Fan-noob question about daisy chaining fans - does that just mean that they all connect to each other somehow with a single connection to the motherboard? Are all 10 of yours daisy chained or do you have them like in sets of 3 (+1 alone) ?
I bought this case - it's still sitting in the box because I can't f'n find a 5900x to save my life but I imagine I'll eventually get one and be able to proceed with the build.
As you know, the case comes with zero fans - all of them need to be bought. I'm curious what others have done for fan...
it's not even a small difference it's huuuge - other than "make sure you have enough ram" there's probably no other upgrade that makes a bigger difference
