I just got Doom Eternal a month ago for $29 and I feel like it was money well-spent.
I’m tempted by Star Wars Squadrons but the reviews I’ve read say it’ll disappoint anyone who’s looking for a modern X-Wing vs Tie-Fighter.
I ended up picking up Doom Eternal back during the Steam Halloween sale and have been enjoying it. My 2080 was able to play the game at Ultra settings and the graphics were impressive
I’ll probably pick up a Wolfenstein bundle at some point when I can get a deal on it.
I’m intrigued by the new...
CPU: 10700K 5.2ghz @ 1.305v (52x CPU, 49x Ring)
MB: MSI MAG Tomahawk Z490
Ram: Patriot Viper 4400mhz cl19
Cooler: Arctic Cooling Liquid Freezer II 280
I've always done my overclocking by trying to find the highest clock speed I can run without having to increase voltage. This is the first time...
I’m looking for the color to match the colors I set my other rgb components to be, without having to use a standalone remote like on the cheap RGB strips.
The only things my google searching turned up were Philips Hue products and the Corsair iCUE LS100 Starter Kit which includes an external...
I am looking to add ambient lighting behind my monitor and would love for it to be controllable by either Razer Chroma or MSI Mystic Lights.
I can’t seem to find anything in my searches. I’ve found USB rgb lights controlled by an app, or their own remote, but can’t find any that are advertised...
Got the new build fired up and I’m impressed. The Liquid Freezer II 280 is quiet and my 10700K idles at 29c.
I’ve got mine set to exhaust and it’s seeing pretty cool air from the 3 140mm intake fans, so I don’t think there would be much to gain from switching to intake.
Max CPU temp during...
I got the 280mm version during Prime Days for the same price. I just finished my build with it in a Phanteks P500A.
The pic is from a weird angle, the 2080 isn’t crooked/sagging IRL. The anti-sag bracket that came with the Phanteks case actually seems to do a good job keeping the card level...
I’m a video card away from having completed a new build in a P500A.
It seems remarkably similar to this case, however I was able to mount a 280mm radiator to the top and 3 140mm fans on the front. That gives it the edge if you ask me.
I specifically wanted the non-rgb version of the case...
Working on PCBs is where I was first exposed to wearing a grounding strap.
I knew it was overkill for building a pc, but figured it wouldn’t hurt to use the one I had laying around.
I’m just planning to ground myself on my case from here on out. Not worth the hassle of using the strap.
If I were gaming alone I’d be out in the living room on my 75” 4K TV with surround sound.
Since I am not, the headphones are a necessity. my girlfriend’s desk is directly next to mine. If we had speakers it would get annoying quickly.
I already had Shadowlands preordered. Free would have been good though.
I’m happy with the 2080 I ended up getting. It’ll hold me over well enough. I think I’ll probably keep this until 20gb cards are available.
Initial responses are making me feel better about not being able to find my grounding strap.
My case should be here today, so I can finally start the build.
Just curious what everyone’s thoughts are regarding ESD and working on their computer.
I’ve always worn a grounded bracelet when working on mine, but it’s because I had one available from work. I’m not sure if I’d have even considered it if I hadn’t been made to use one there.
Does anyone else...
I have a character in pre-patch right now who’s at level 50 and has an azurite necklace. I boosted the character to 50 with a token I got for preordering, so I don’t know the deal with azurite, or the necklace, but I do know that any experience I gain right now goes into the necklace since I’m...
The changes to the game have made WoW fairly enjoyable for my girlfriend and I. We like the story so we’ve got a ton of content to explore without it feeling like a grind. I’m not in a rush to get the best gear like I was the first time I played, I want to unlock all of the allied races and play...
I’ll have a 10700K with a 2080. I’m hoping to be be able to get 61fps with ultra settings and ray tracing. That’s all I need for my 2560x1440 60hz screen.
We’ll see.
I was probably playing 30 hours a week back in BC when I quit and I don’t feel like I was making much progress. The game feels much more enjoyable for a casual player now. In pre-patch I’ve been able to solo level characters to 50 in just a couple of days.
I’ve been staying away from group...
I checked all of the settings, even tried a registry entry to expand the buffer size. Nothing worked, so maybe the card was on its way out. Motherboard audio has been working great, and I’m sure airflow improved a little with the Sound Blaster Z gone.
I’ll have to look into all of them. I played Metal Gear and Splinter Cell back in the PS2 days, but haven’t given much though to either series since.
Dues Ex is in my Steam library apparently, so I think I’ll check that one out first.
I’m not sure what the deal is either. I couldn’t get the Z working in WoW though. I honestly don’t use that computer for anything else, so I don’t if the issue is confined to WoW, or would pop up elsewhere.
I tried the latest drivers with the control software, and the windows 10 recommended...
I ended up pulling the Sound Blaster Z as nothing I could do would get it working properly in WoW.
I’m using the motherboard audio now, which happens to be a Sound Blaster Recon 3Di. Using the default windows driver and no creative software installed, everything is working as it’s supposed to...
I did consider getting 5700XT from somewhere with a holiday return policy but I’m curious to see what ray tracing looks like in WoW and this will allow me to do that.
Whatever hit I take when it comes time to sell I’ll just consider an R&D cost.
The 3770K is 8 years old now. The 980TI it’s currently feeding is 5 years old. This combo is playing WoW on Ultra settings and maintaining 60FPS @ 1440p, so I’ve definitely gotten my money’s worth. I wonder how long the components will last?
I’ve been out of the PC gaming scene for a while and am wondering what I missed. I prefer single player campaigns to multiplayer gaming, but do like having the ability to play multiplayer
The last shooters I played on PC were Rage, Doom and Battlefield 4.
All three game have sequels but I...
There are sure to be titties in such a line, though you may be disappointed if you were hoping they’d be female.

I needed something to complete my build and this was the best I could do.
I contemplated going super cheap but I didn’t want to have worse GPU performance than I did in my old rig, even if only temporarily.
If I can’t get $300 for it when I can get my hands on a 20gb card, then I’ll probably...
I don’t have an update on the Kraken headset yet but I will say that I’m very glad I didn’t order a Sound Blaster for my new build.
I was playing WoW on the old rig with the Sound Blaster Z in it last night when I noticed I only had audio from one channel in my headphones. I swapped the...
Agreed. The market is a mess right now.
The card will be here by next weekend and so will my Phanteks P500A. Everything else was here already. Can’t wait to build!
Thanks!
I ended up biting on the EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 XC2 ULTRA. Came out to $451 after the promo code and tax. I really appreciate the 5% off and the fact that I can check out of the video card madness for a while.
I got a better card for $450 today than I would have if I had ordered...
They have a 2080 for $450 but it looks like B Stock items aren’t eligible for Step Up.
I wonder how much it’s going to drop in value once the 3070 hits?
Building systems used to be fun. I never thought I’d see the day where attempting to source a video card would lead to anxiety!
We preordered the expansion pack because it came with a free character boost token. The boost token sells for more than the expansion by itself does, so we felt it was money well spent.
If I end up buying hardware that comes with Shadowlands, I’ll gift it to a friend in hopes of luring him in...
