Ryzen 5 2600 high idle temps and temp spikes

Thanks a lot! As I said I'm still on the road but I'll try this as soon as I get home and I'll report back asap.

Ryzen 5 2600 high idle temps and temp spikes

Nope, I've been on the road these past few months and I still haven't bought a new one. I'm going home next week and I'll update then.

Lol yeah I've heard that a lot over the past few days :D Yeah definitely not running OCs daily. Alright then, I won't overthink it, I'll just get the Evo or something similar and be done with it.

Ryzen 5 2600 high idle temps and temp spikes

Thanks a lot for your reply. I am looking into getting a new cooler in a few weeks. I was looking at a couple of tower coolers, but since then I have been advised to get a top down cooler instead because of the fact that my board (ASUS PRIME B450M-A) doesn't have a heatsink over the VRM...

Ryzen 5 2600 high idle temps and temp spikes

Played a little bit of GTA 5 as that's the only game I have installed atm.. Went up to 3.5. I'll try to increase the offset to about 0.125 to get just a little bit of temperature improvement. It's weird that a brand new machine doesn't work properly out of the box and I have to do all these...

Ryzen 5 2600 high idle temps and temp spikes

Yes I've done all that. What do you mean "it's the mobo"? Like defective or something, or just a crappy model? Just ran Cinebench, the clocks never went higher than 3.4 GHz. I wonder how much more I can push it before I start to notice a significant drop in performance? I got a score of 2658...

Ryzen 5 2600 high idle temps and temp spikes

A quick update: I got an advice from uncle Astro who is a member on another forum to offset the CPU voltage by 0.09 for starters and I'm seeing lowered temperatures without a loss in performance. The sudden spikes in temperature also stopped. He told me to continue trying to lower it further by...

Ryzen 5 2600 high idle temps and temp spikes

Yep, that's my next upgrade, gonna grab one in the next couple of weeks.. Seeing as I've I tried everything else suggested here, I'm gonna put the issue to rest for now, and live with a slightly hotter machine than what I'm usually used to. Unless someone comes up with some new advice I didn't...

Just tried it, I don't see much of a difference.

So I guess that's like looking for a needle in a haystack... lt1s10 thanks a lot for sharing this! Definitely something wrong with my system..

Ryzen 5 2600 high idle temps and temp spikes

The BIOS version is 2006, same as the latest they have on their site https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/PRIME-B450M-A/HelpDesk_BIOS/ Couldn't find AMD Cool'nQuiet in the BIOS.. Closest thing to the C-States thing is this "Global C-state Control", which is set to "Auto". Btw I re-positioned the...

Ryzen 5 2600 high idle temps and temp spikes

May I ask what version of HWMonitor you're using? Because the clocks tab looks different than mine. Is it because of the motherboard? Also, look at my clock speeds, they're much higher than yours and I'm not doing anything except browsing this forum. I'll definitely change the heatsink next...

Ryzen 5 2600 high idle temps and temp spikes

I totally agree! I'll try disabling MCE next, not near my PC atm but I'll report back once I do it. Thanks!

Ryzen 5 2600 high idle temps and temp spikes

The "Minimum processor state" in the power plan was set to 90% by default, lowered it to 20% but nothing changed. The exhaust fan came with the case, not sure about the exact model but it's probably pretty generic. The intake fan is MASTERFAN MF120R RGB. Instead of placing them both as intake at...

Ryzen 5 2600 high idle temps and temp spikes

Alright, I took the side panel off for 10-15 minutes and the temperature stabilized at 49-50. I don't understand how the airflow can't be good. It's a pretty spacious case. Btw aren't the idle clocks I posted above too high? I asked my friend to send me a shot of his i7 and his look pretty...

Sorry, too many screenshots, forgot to include this one: Checked the bios for the speed settings but I'm not sure what to look for..

Ryzen 5 2600 high idle temps and temp spikes

Went down to 53C for a brief moment but only for a minute and then it was back up in the high 50s again. Basically any time I'm doing anything, even just using File Explorer it sits in the high 50s.

I don't know man, everything seems normal to me: My ambient temperature is around 27C.

Ryzen 5 2600 high idle temps and temp spikes

Thank you both for the replies! Well, the fan smoothing option solved the quick ramp ups, so that's good. But, the Ryzen power plan already was selected. I also tried with the Windows Balanced plan but it didn't make any difference. As for the voltage, I haven't touched anything, how can I...

Ryzen 5 2600 high idle temps and temp spikes

Hi everyone, I built a new PC 3-4 days ago. Everything is fine, but the temperatures are kind of high. Under load (gaming) it doesn't go above 75C, but on idle it constantly sits at 57-58C. I also noticed that in certain moments the temperatures suddenly spike up to like 67-68C, the fan ramps up...

Almost threw away all of my ASUS gear...

I bought myself an RGB fan yesterday and immediately installed ASUS Aura to tweak the colors etc.. I set it to some gradient blue-green pattern. Today my PC started freezing and became unresponsive 2 separate times. The second time I even lost some work because of it. I noticed that when the...
