Glad to hear that about the mobo...I kind of just randomly picked it and all the feedback I got has been great. Any reason why you don't like the AIO options?
I think my logic was have all my system stuff on one, and then current year photos/videos that I'm actively editing on another. That way if one fails I don't lose everything....I have no idea how good reliability on M.2's is
I had posted here a while back with a review of a 3960x build I was going to make. After listening to the suggestions, and going back and forth for quite some time I decided that even though I'm using the machine for Lightroom, Photoshop, and some video rendering the 3960x was just overkill...
oooh I see, it's a pump/block combo. One other question though...how can that be for ALL AMD socket types?? They're all different shapes, and I didn't see an STR4 adapter anywhere on their site
The only issue I have with that is the price, it costs double an AIO, all on it's own. I'm thinking go with mid-tier cooling for now, don't OC, and then in a few months go with something like what you posted.
Here is a link...it's the new iCUE H115i, from Corsair...it says it has a larger surface area for TRs....but does that include the 3960x & 3970x? Does anyone know yet?
Thanks
My uncle worked for a decade or so engineering things for the government/military. This was about 45 years ago at this point. Virtually nothing he's worked on can be spoken about still to this day. I think the only thing was some early drone technology, but even that was 30 years after the...
I've never actually done a custom-loop before, but may have to since there are no AIO options for the 3960x...how hard is it to set up a loop? I may just use the one that thesmokingman did here since I'm using the same form-factor..
I'm trying to nail down some specs on a build I'm putting together. I'm debating between 3600 CL18 memory and 3466 CL16. Can someone explain which would deliver superior performance, particularly for photo editing and video rendering? Is the 3600 going to automatically be faster?
I figured Corsair or someone would have put something out by now, but so far all they have done is sold a bracket that lets their existing AOI cooling solutions cover sort-of-most-of the chip....not exactly what I'm looking for. I don't want to do a custom loop at this time, so I was hoping an...
So let's pretend everything is equal on 2 machines I'm building. One version of the processor has 4 memory channels, the other has 2. In each machine I use 4 sticks of RAM. How much better is the performance on the machine with the processor that has 4 memory channels, all other things being...
Yeah, this thread has made me think about it a lot more....the quad channel memory capabilities of the 3960x really make it stand out to me. I get what you're saying about going with a 3950x (for example) and upgrading other specs though. It seems like as time goes on I'm doing more and more...
That's part of the reason I want to spend extra on this rig. Money isn't tight for me, but it could legitimately help me get work done faster. No lie, when I saw what you put together I started measuring in my office to see if I could fit a case like that in there..
Yah, the Puget Systems report broke out tasks really well, if you look at the comments they posted a google sheet link, it's like the 3960x was made specifically for the tasks I use the most.
TR crushes any Intel offering for LR, hence the choice. I do a lot of heavy volume work in LR and a...
I'm going for max performance in LightRoom / Photoshop and then some minor video rendering and gaming. When I do game on this I want near-max performance on the latest generation of games, although I don't game that often. Single monitor setup for now; 4k 27" IPS. I already have a monitor and...
