    Microsoft Criticizes FCC Broadband Report

The FCC is effectively captured by the industry. Their master plan is to let wired infrastructure crumble and switch you all to 5G wireless and use the fact that the air is a shared medium to justify datacapping you at some unreasonably low level so they can make huge money from business with...

MSI Expected to Overtake Samsung in the Curved Monitor Market

Get one of the cheap 22 “ 1920x1080 glossy IPS Dell monitors at least for 100 bucks. Life is too short to use a junk grade 1680x1050 panel. You’ll be glad you did.

File Abnormality Causes Duplicate Tax Refunds

Cause it’s totally worth living in the woods for a one-time duplicate tax refund, lol.

MLB Tests Trackman Computer System to Inform Umpires of Balls and Strikes

Disagree completely. We watch to see the players perform. We don’t watch to see who will get screwed tonight because they have a starting pitcher that can’t throw to the one spot the umpire is “giving”. Or when you have a patient lineup and you watch them get rung up on bad calls routinely...

MLB Tests Trackman Computer System to Inform Umpires of Balls and Strikes

Of course fucking Joe West would complain. He’s a shitty attention seeking umpire. He’s better than Angel Hernandez, but who isn’t.

Disney Removes Advertising from YouTube in Response to Child Exploitation Videos

Not at all. I am concerned for your mental health. Your post shows signs of delusion.

Intel Confirms that FinFET MRAM is Production Ready

MRAM is a nice EEPROM replacement at this point and not commercially viable for much else. It’ll never reach flash densities so an NVDIMM is probably the best case scenario for it.

Disney Removes Advertising from YouTube in Response to Child Exploitation Videos

The overreaction to this is gonna be ugly. The solution is to make the algorithm ban the commenters for posting suggestive comments on videos of minors. Also, exclude videos of minors to VPN traffic or disallow posts on videos of minors from known VPN services.

Disney Removes Advertising from YouTube in Response to Child Exploitation Videos

It’s not child pornography. The videos are regular YouTube content but made creepy by sick commenters. Sorry to bring reality to your political delusions. Taking down the content would be the equivalent of banning department store magazines or something because weirdos jerk off to them.

Playing Chicken: Kentucky Fried Intel Core i9-9900KFC Processor Listed

I wonder how eDRAM affects OC headroom. Not that it matters for 9900k since it’s basically maxed out anyway.

Playing Chicken: Kentucky Fried Intel Core i9-9900KFC Processor Listed

I am amazed it’s taken Intel this long to add Crystalwell to mainstream CPUs. Broad well showed how nice it can be for workloads like gaming.

Tesla Model X Receives Industry First Perfect Crash-Test Rating for a SUV

Yes, the electric drive allows for very fast control loops and better control of wheel spin, even compared to an ICE with AWD including torque vectoring and electronically controlled multi-plate clutch type differentials like a Nissan GT-R or the new BMW M5. Most crossover and passenger car AWD...

Tesla Model X Receives Industry First Perfect Crash-Test Rating for a SUV

The pretend SUV has greater traction than anything you have ever experienced in a Jeep Renegade that’s for sure lol. Tesla’s AWD and traction control are ridiculously good compared to all ICE vehicles and its mammoth weight helps in this regard with snow. Appropriate tire disclaimer and all. I...

Amazon Could Be Reconsidering Its NYC Headquarters Site Due to Local Opposition

Careful what you wish for. RTP is a nice little area. Amazon landing there will drive up housing costs. I guess not bad if you own a house there already.

Amazon Could Be Reconsidering Its NYC Headquarters Site Due to Local Opposition

There aren’t that many out of work engineers in the area. I get between 1 and 5 calls/emails per day with openings looking for an interview. If you’re in the NYC metro and unemployed as a professional that Amazon wants, you probably suck. Amazon isn’t employing many low-skilled workers. I’d...

Huddle House Affected by Data Breach in Its Point of Sale Systems

There’s like a thousand Waffle House locations. They aren’t all that bad. I spent 6 years in SC and Huddle House always seemed even more sketchy to me. I’ve only been to two of them so idk... just don’t ask me to do a comprehensive study of shitty breakfast franchises lol. The dirtiest...

Buildzoid Analyzes the PCB and VRM Layout of the AMD Radeon VII

Perhaps, we’ll probably never know. For most electrical engineers that have been around a while, if your PCB catches on fire it was a tantalum capacitor 90% of the time. They have a nasty habit of spontaneously combusting if operated too close to limits. Now, with that said, most devices like...

Buildzoid Analyzes the PCB and VRM Layout of the AMD Radeon VII

The Nvidia failures probably aren’t due to underdesign of the VRM. When anything after a voltage regulator fails short it is often the regulator components that smoke. It could be a lot of things. Bad lot of ceramic or tantalum caps, bad GPU die, etc. I’m sure Nvidia know by now though. Lower...

Buildzoid Analyzes the PCB and VRM Layout of the AMD Radeon VII

I am an EE and I don’t know that he is right about the cost of the power stages. Those are models that aren’t sold to normal distributors, so he’s guessing at the price. I would imagine AMD has quite a bit of purchasing power and isn’t going to pay what I would pay even for high quantities. HBM...

Americans Are Lining Up to Work for Amazon for $15 an Hour

McDonalds is “hard” work compared to a lot of office jobs. Hard does not make it valuable. It pays nothing because anyone without a severe mental disability and four limbs can probably do it.
