Interesting, Nvidia has the RTX 2070 Super listed for a hundred bucks cheaper than the RTX 2070. Same goes for the 2080 series. These are very good prices.

Thanks mda I appreciate that info. And thanks to all who took the time to respond and give me a tip or something else to consider. It really helps to hear from people who have already been down that road and took the plunge. Will make my final decision a lot less stressful.
Without using RayTracing, should the RTX 2070 or 2070 super both be able to run all the latest games well on a 3840 by 2160 display? I guess that's really the main thing I want to be sure of. I'll post my specs again for convenience:
Ryzen 7 2700x with
16gigs RAM on a X470 Aorus MB,
GTX 960...
Ok, thanks, guys. I'll pro\bably go ahead and go with the 1080TI unless I can find a steal on an RTX 2080. I agree with Archaes in that the RTX 2070 doesn’t have enough umpf to run raytracing anyway.
Thanks for the info. I was going to ask if I really need 11 gigs VRAM. I'm mainly concerned that I will be able to run all the latest games on the highest settings with no dragging. If the RTX 2070 will do that then my minds already made up. My current system spec: Ryzen 7 2700x with 16gigs RAM...
Was ready to buy the RTX2070 with 8 gigs GDDR6 because of the Ray Tracing but then I found a better deal on a refurbished GTX1080TI with 11 gigs GDDR5X for basically the same price but without Ray Tracing. I don't know anything about Ray Tracing except that I don't have it and I want to be...
Someone told me (not here) that the x470 Aorus would support the new AMD CPU's when they came out. Now they're saying it only supports 1st and 2nd gen. I don't get it. Has anyone tried it?
Glad someone asked this question. I'm also interested in the SP NVME SSD. So far just about everything I've seen looks good. I was also wanting to get some opinions about the size of the SSD drives. Do the 2TB NVME drives defeat the purpose? (Not necessarily referring to SP here. Just any brand)...
Good idea. I do like the price on the non RGB. I just noticed on the Gigabyte MB the specs say only 3200 (O.C.) is compatible. I assume that O.C. means that if I get the 3200 Ram that I will have to manually Over Clock it to get the 3200...
I've pretty much settled down on this to go with my Ryzen whichever (still thinking on that). If I don't pull the trigger this week I may just go ahead wait for the new stuff. I will still need this though so I'd like some input. Trying to keep the price down.
MB -...
Saw that. Thanks. Looks like the 2700x is down substantially from 309.00 to 289.00 at Newegg too. Interesting. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113499&ignorebbr=1
Probably going with the 5 2600x.
I have three in mind but would like some input. Criteria are OC capable, X470 - (hoping it will be ready for the new stuff coming out) 3200 capable RAM or higher. Don't need WIFI. Almost forgot. Needs least one m.2 socket.
1. Gigabyte...
AI'v read the article and watched a few videos which put the stock 2600x over the stock 2600 in performance.
Ok here's one reason.
Thanks for your thoughts. I was wanting the 2700x but decided to step down for practical reasons to the 2600x. I did look at the non X version and the...
Yes, I do have an SSD. I'm still debating on what to do because I was thinking about the same thing. Here are my specs: AMD FX8350 Black addition, 8 gigs DDR3 RAM, GTX 970 GPU w/3gigs mem, Gigabyte 970 SLI AM3 socket, DDR3, Samsung 1 gig SSD card., Corsair CX750M Power supply.
I run ultra on...
Thanks again for all the replies and ideas.
gerardfraser thanks for the link. Good read and makes a lot of sense. I had pretty much decided to go with the x version just so I'll have the option for OC.
Looks like everyone is in agreement. After thinking more on it eventually if all goes well this will serve as the base system for the next gen AMD stuff coming out if I get the right MB so getting that GPU upgrade makes a lot of sense.
darrpara I do plan on OCing and I get your point and...
Time for an upgrade since I'm still running my AMD FX 8350 with a Geforce 970 and 8 gigs ram. I don't want to wait on ZEN3.
My concern boils down to this. Speed wise anyway. Go with the Ryzen 7 2700x while keeping existing Geforce 970 , or option 2. A Ryzen 5 2600x with a Geforce 1080 upgrade...
