    old question, new answer. if you have gen2 hgst-unit, you need sff-8644 to sff-8644 cable. it will work at 12gbps speed. if you have gen1 hgst-unit, you need qsfp+ (sff-8436) to sff-8644 or sff-8088. either way, your card can be in IT mode or raid mode. but, your hdd's are not recognized...

    i didnt read the artice on anadtech, but i want to make a note about sockets....if you can avoid foxconn sockets, some ppl have troubles screwing the cpu in the foxconn-socket. Lotes-socket is the better one

    nice thing about thic case that it is recognizing my 10tb hdd. i only tried with 1 hdd of 10tb. but i assume putting 16x hdd of 10tb each (160tb raw) wouldn't be problem. my next search is replacing the fan of psu. that little thing makes more noise than 2 scynthe ultra kaze 3000rpms together...

    my other modifications: replacing 80x38mm back fans with 120x38mm fans. i cut out backpanel for new fans. not nice cut-out but it is functional and working.

    i took a 4 pin y-spliiter. took off male-connectors from plastic houseing, squeezed molex-male-terminals to fit into 4 pin atx houseing. now i have 2 female molex 4 pin connectors to power up sas expander (intel res2sv240 or chenbro ck22803)

    i am also looking for hba cooler. i found couple of 40x10mm fans. but when i install 10mm thick fan onto the chipset metallic block, i then cann't install hba-card in 1 pci-e slot. it takes 2 slots thickness. any options to fit 10mm thick fan so that it still takes 1 slot thickness?
