Nvidia purchase of Arm is a 'disaster' for the UK tech industry: Government to probe $40 billion sale of British chip designer after co-founder says it is 'the equivalent to letting Trump getting his hands on Trident'
The deal is still subject to regulatory approval including from the UK...
Well, I think Tim Cook will play ball, and hopefully some serious Apple/Mac workstations powered by ARM chips and Nvidia GPU's will come out of this.
Gonna be fun to watch, my last Apple workstation is about 10 years old now haha..
If the 3070 ends up doing a decent job at 4K60HZ It could easily be my next card.
Being a true 2 slot card (Thickness) for most of the partner designs is cool too for ppl like me with space constraints..
As it stands, all 3080's except the FE are 2.25-2.75 slot types. No doubt due to thermals...
Sounds reasonable, and if they do the 8 to 16 later on for the 3070 too, then that's a plan as well.
You'll loose a couple of hundreds, and got to game for a year or so. Consider it cheap rent.

Hey everyone - two updates for you today.
First, GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition reviews (and all related technologies and games) will be on September 16th at 6 a.m. Pacific Time.
Get ready...
Why would you be very surprised? Have I missed some kind of announcement about shortages or some legit articles indicating that supplies will be strained?
I'd like to know more actually.
MSI is a going all out on prices according to the B&H list. $300 over the FE? No thanks, but I'm sure they will sell haha.
Hilarious, luckily I can easily go to 2021 with my 2070. I'm willing to go $800 or so for a Hybrid tho. Last time around EVGA's 2080 Hybrid war $850 or so I reacall..
I don't use an air cooler.
Also there are no thermals out yet that have shown how much heat the rear fan will dump out, Its at the back end of the heat pipes so it could be less than what the other fan ejects from the case.
I have exhaust fans right above a MITX MB, the rear GPU fan will vent...
I hope youre wrong too, because I'm not buying another GPU that just dumps all the heat in to my case. if the FE gets crappy thermal and noise reviews then it's a Hybrid for me.
I like smaller cases, use a Fractal Nano S atm and it could benefit from the FE design, at least I believe so.
Agreed.
Sad part is, if you talk about your own poor experiences with AMD, you will get someone writing a novel about how they never had a problem and youre holding it wrong..
Luckily we have choices.
I think it comes from that even today a few brands sport more or less the same cooler, usually it's PNY, Gainward, maybe Palit and some other I can't remember.
It's a cheap generic cooler, and the one on my PNY2070 certainly fit the description. Works well, a little noisy.
PNY makes a lot of...
I'm going on close to 2 years on my PNY 2070, rock solid. Cooling a bit loud for my tastes but can be managed as long as the case has good cooling as well.
Well it's two dates apparently.
"A new era of leadership performance across computing and graphics is coming. Join us on October 8 and October 28 to learn more about the big things on the horizon for PC gaming."...
RTX 3070 is supposedly available in October. AMD's "announcement" will come October 8th and October 28th.
Would be a good time to introduce a card just ahead/during/just after of its competition no?
