    Horizon Forbidden West

I don't know if Direct Storage is running, but for a game of this scale, it's extremely fast loading; like 5 seconds from launching from Windows to actually moving Aloy around.

New NVIDIA control panel now in beta

Yeah I see it on Nexus mod. Depending on how long it takes for Nvidia to fix that caveat, I might give it a try. Thx!

New NVIDIA control panel now in beta

Yeah, kinda of a bummer RTX HDR doesn't work on a multi-monitor setup; hopefully they'll fix that one quickly.

Sins of Solar Empire 2 is looking and playing real good if you haven't check that out. A modern evolution and improvements on the old formula. The engine alone is amazing in the kind performance it delivers. If we're in luck, and I'm pretty sure we will be, we're gonna get the same kind of...

    Homeworld 3

This smells a lot like the plug was pulled on financing the game development by Embracer and revenue needs to start coming in, no matter the current state of the game. With a publisher that keeps supporting their game for a long time after release that wouldn't be such a big deal, but in the...

    Homeworld 3

I tried to play with a couple of settings and I think I managed to find a camera setup that feels a bit more intuitive: 1. Enable NLIPS to OFF in Game 2. Camera translation is always active to ON in Camera 3. Camera translation sensitivity to 1.0 in Camera 4. Camera rotation sensitivity to 0.5...

    Cyberpunk 2077

There's a certain fear creeping in that we may be witnessing the legacy of Starfield loading screen simulator spoiling the devs of other games to take the easy way out...

    Dell Alienware AW3423DW 34″ QD-OLED 175Hz (3440 x 1440)

Greenmangaming has it 77.89CAD at the moment. Too expensive for my taste but still better.

I've been having a really good time with GCIV:Supernova! How do you like it ?

    Cyberpunk 2077

Not at all! Just watching the video normally you can clearly see it between 0:25-0:40. Look at 0:27 for example, on the left. But if you don't see it then you are blessed!! Better not see it and enjoy it :) This is the kind of things you cannot unsee when you start seeing it though.

    Cyberpunk 2077

In the first video you can clearly see the ghosting when you're shooting and moving left-right at the 0:25-0:30 mark. Lots of vertical "gray" lines showing up all over when you're moving.
  16. D

    Cyberpunk 2077

Yup ghosting. Haven't notice any using RT, but as soon as turning on PT it's very much noticeable.

    Cyberpunk 2077

Those static image don't tell the real story though. In movement, Path Tracing adds major image retention artifacts.

    Starfield

That describes really well how I've felt about it. There's a lack of continuity with how you move from one activity to the next. Feels disjointed.

I'm using this one for DLSS3. His latest version added some safeguards to reduce crashing.

Wouldn't this lut mod at 50% or 25% help a lot with this ?

John Linneman (Digital Foundry) "What I can say, because it was on DF Direct, is that I've personally spoken with three devs that implemented DLSS

ChadD I like your thinking on this. I'm wondering though, is this something NVIDIA could change with DLSS if they wanted too ? Could they turn it into an industry standard at this point or is it too late for that ?

    Starfield

Now that's interesting!! I'm really glad you went ahead and tried it out :) I got a 5950X myself with SMT disabled and an all-core OC which significantly increase L3 cache memory bandwidth. I'm looking forward to see how much FPS I'll be able to pull with these tweaks.
  23. D

    Starfield

    Alrighty ;)
  24. D

    Starfield

I'm really curious about that one myself ! Among other things, turning off SMT did seems to make a difference in some games with a 5950x.
  25. D

    Starfield

Following your train of thought, these results seems to show that Nvidia did not optimize their drivers yet for Starfield (considering Nvidia track record, in a conspirationnal way, this could suggest they did that on purpose to make an AMD sponsored game look bad for most GPU owners). AMD...

Anyone “upgraded” from 5900X to 5800X3D for gaming?

That's the key right here. An all core OC can do a lot to unshackle the cache on the vanilla versions. It'd be a much more interesting comparison if both CPU could be compared at their optimal/maximum settings.

Just in time to make interdimensional-alien fighting quantum-computing-antigravity-A.I.: ✨Room temperature superconductors✨

As always, the difficulty will be in how to economically synthesize these and integrate them for use. I suspect an army of graduate students will be given projects to simulate any and all kind of possible room temperature superconductors in the coming weeks/years, as well as experimental...

Diablo IV - The Real Official Thread

Just wondering, after season 1 started, did you log on your main character at least once before making your season toon ? I think that was a requirement to actually get all the progression to apply to your season toon. (I haven't done it myself so I can't verify)

Diablo IV - The Real Official Thread

Perso I'm not starting over. Once I'm at max level, I'm waiting for the next expansion to continue the story with my current character. There's a limit at how much fun can be extracted from gear hunting and Paragon board progression; can't see myself doing that again from scratch on a new...

    Dell Alienware AW3423DWF 34″ QD-OLED 165Hz FreeSync Premium Pro (3440 x 1440)

It's a great monitor! I use it exclusively as a content consumption and gaming monitor along side two IPS monitors. That's probably the best setup for OLED longevity. If you can find a good deal along side Rakuten, it's worth it.

    Dell Alienware AW3423DWF 34″ QD-OLED 165Hz FreeSync Premium Pro (3440 x 1440)

That's good to know. So Windows calibrated for 0, 1010, 1010 should give you the best result when running it in HDR1000 ? With what or how are you testing the clipping ? Perso, I only run it in HDR1000 when not in SDR, so that shouldn't be too much of an issue for those who run it like that...

Anyone “upgraded” from 5900X to 5800X3D for gaming?

I've been trying to figure out the best settings for that all-cores OC 24/7 and here's what I figured out so far. Reading around the web and observing the various parameter in HWiNFO, it seems like it's better to have higher vcore along side low LLC levels. I'm mentally set to not go over 1.35V...

Anyone “upgraded” from 5900X to 5800X3D for gaming?

Thx III_Slyflyer_III for sharing all of this. You gave me a couple of ideas that really helped me get my system where I needed. Following your lead, I've been playing with an all-cores OC on my 5950x, trying to optimize for efficiency mostly since I'll need it to do long simulations that can...
