Advice to overlock i7 8700K on Asus Z370-I motherboard

Hello, Which way do you recommend to achieve this overclock? Should I use the factory Asus BIOS utility (accessed with F12 at startup) or would you rather recommend an other way, another program? Thank you in advance.

(First) new build, disappointing figures, OC possible?

This Sharkoon QB One case seem very interesting too. It can accomodate a CPU Cooler with a height of 15cm. Nice alternative to cases with much higher prices.

(First) new build, disappointing figures, OC possible?

I've got better temperatures with a vertical positioning of the case (< 90°in stress test). @VanGoghComplex : yes, I've seen this 240mm AIO modding. Anyway, I won't have time to go on with my build during next weeks (big project to finish). Then I'll have a look at undervolting. Also if I am...

(First) new build, disappointing figures, OC possible?

I just want to switch easily from one setup to the other on the fly according to my activities to reduce noise, heat and consumption. For instance, I want to OC for music production, but not when only editing text or browsing for instance.

Indeed, I get to the I get to the Asus UEFI BIOS utility with either key.

(First) new build, disappointing figures, OC possible?

I am not sure I do understand. Isn't the Asus UEFI BIOS utility the only way to access the BIOS on an Asus motherboard?

(First) new build, disappointing figures, OC possible?

Thanks Captindecisive and SixFootDuo for your answers. One additional question: I plan to use the ASUS stock BIOS utility to overclock but I wonder if it's possible to control which profile is loaded without restarting the computer (on my older computer, a Clevo laptop, I have the ThrottleStop...

(First) new build, disappointing figures, OC possible?

Hello everyone, Thank you for all the answers. In between I have tightened a bit the screws attaching the cooler to the CPU but I've been careful not to overtight in order to avoid crackling the motherboard. I have also installed the two 120mm case fans (Silent Wings 3). By the way, my IHS is...

(First) new build, disappointing figures, OC possible?

Hello, I have recently completed my first mini-ITX build: Fractal Design Node 202, Asus Rog Strix Gaming Z370-I, i8700K, CPU cooler Cooltek LP53 with Noctua NF-A9x14 fan, no GPU, Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHz 2 x 16 GB, Samsung EVO 970 500GB M.2 SSD. The CPU has been delidded by another guy, I...

Cooltek LP53: factory thermal paste or third party?

OK, it seems these gray pads are just made of thermal paste and according to this page it offers a thermal conductivity of 4 W/mK whereas the Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut offers 12.5W/mK. So I think I'll wipe out the stock paste and replace it with the Kryonaut.

Could these pads be made of graphite?

    3D Printed Adapters

OK, I got it. The black rubber ties can slide to the side of the cooler. Then indeed one has to insert the adapter's tabs in the holes.

Cooltek LP53: factory thermal paste or third party?

This is how the back of the LP53 looks like. Actually it doesn't look like regular thermal paste. I can't see any film to remove there. Should I remove these grey pads and replace them with Konduktonaut? In this case, how do I remove them?

    3D Printed Adapters

Hello everyone, I am finally going to start the assembly of my computer. So I am going to set a Noctua A9x14 fan on my Cooltek LP53 CPU cooler using a printed adapter. I am not sure how to tie everything together. I have already removed the LP53 stock cooler. Now, how do I remove the black...

Cooltek LP53: factory thermal paste or third party?

Hello, I am going to install a Cooltek/Thermaltek LP53 cooler on my CPU. I have just noticed the cooler is shipped with thermal paste. Would you recommend to use this factory paste or put some third party instead? I have some Kryonaut which I bought for this purpose and if it can help lowering...

    3D Printed Adapters

Hello Everyone, I am going to have the Noctua to the LP53 adapter printed. Affordable options from 3DHubs are : - PLA - ABS - Resin (SLA) - Nylon (also possible to have it mixed with carbon, mineral or aluminium) - PETG - TPU - ASA - PEI At first sight, I'd go with ABS or nylon. Do you think...

Slim case, oveclocked 7700K, low noise: possible?

By the way, this post on SFF forum has interesting pictures, where sizes of some cases are visually compared.

Slim case, oveclocked 7700K, low noise: possible?

You're right, they are quite slim but they do seem to have fewer cooling holes than the A4 SFX or the M1. The final choice will probably depend on having a GPU or not. Without GPU, I think a slim case would be fine, even something like a Node 202 could be OK. Otherwise, with a GPU, I think...

Slim case, oveclocked 7700K, low noise: possible?

I’d opt for the Dan case immediately if I was sure I could cool it down with an overclocked CPU inside. I’ll look for example configurations.

Slim case, oveclocked 7700K, low noise: possible?

I like the Dan case because it's thin and sturdy but maybe a bit too thin for a good cooling. The Lian Li Q20 and Q21 are nice but a bit too thick. IMHO. I was thinking also about the Ncase M1.

What cooling system would you install: air, water, AIO?

Slim case, oveclocked 7700K, low noise: possible?

Hello, I intend to build a mini-ITX computer slim enough to be put inside a suitcase (meaning a thickness between 10 and 15cm, max. 17cm). I want an 7700K CPU overclocked to at least 4.6GHz while keeping noise emissions low (this setup will be dedicated to music). Transportation in the suitcase...
