    With C states enabled my X5675 will clock from either 1.8 or 2.06 all the way to 4.6ghz. It idles at least 10c cooler with them enabled on my setup, generally around 28-34c with or 39-45c without c states/EIST.

    It supports Gulftown(i7 hexcores) with the latest bios update according to Biostar, I ran it through intelmicrocodelist and it does have the microcode for 206C2 which is also for the xeon hexcores. The microcode revision is pretty old and the later 0F(maybe 13 also) have issues with the uncore...

    I wouldn't be concerned about anything more than the fact you could upgrade to a westmere hex core for $25! You can buy many nehalem xeon quads for less than $5 for something equivalent to all of the lower end i7's. As long as your motherboard is good enough to keep up I wouldn't be concerned...
