Once every couple of days I have to turn my monitor off and on because I get these wild screen artifacts. Still, no firmware update to address it. That and the scanlines on some colors are my only complaints. I would get the new LG 27" Oled 240hz but I don't want to go down to 108 PPI.
Something I found interesting is that a YouTuber, Viktor's Reality, did a side-by-side test with the G8 and G7. He said he didn't see much of a difference in picture quality/sharpness between the two panels despite the aggressive AR film.
I really like the QD-OLED but the 21:9 aspect ration and the fact that it was 1440p wasn't the best about it. Overall, I prefer the Odyssey Neo G8 to the Alienware. I'm just waiting on a firmware update at this point to fix some of the issues.
For the third time in my 2.5 weeks of ownership I've had odd issues with the monitor when waking up my computer from sleep. The attached picture is an example of one of the visual artifacts I've seen, the other two times it was random flickering on the screen. Powering the monitor off and on...
The extra $300 in my pocket made it worth it, and I didn't realize how much I like 16:9 more than 21:9 until I compared them side by side. I'm also banking on firmware updates to at least fix color reproduction.
The scanlines are there but I haven't noticed them in games yet.
Tbh, if I didn't...
Update:
I sold my AW3423DW. In dark games with nighttime scenes the AW3423DW is optimal but I would rather have 4k, the 16:9 aspect ratio and the still pretty good contrast that the Neo G8 offers. It also helps that I picked up my G8 for $1,170.
Interesting, my HDMI 2.1 cable came in today, I've plugged it into the Neo G8 and I have HDMI 2.0+ and 240hz selected in the OSD. I checked and even with HDR disabled the option for Nvidia DSR is not there. I wonder if HDMI 2.1 is actually working?
At 240hz I see them easily when sitting close to the screen on certain colors. I suspect some people may not know what scanlines look like so they are unable to identify that they're there. I would guess that most panels have the issue and that people don't notice them. If not, it's great that...
I have the firmware version 1003 too, ordered it on the 4th and I still have scanlines.
EDIT: I just bought my first HDMI 2.1 cable so I'm going to test if I can use 4k 240hz & Nvidia DSR with it.
Yeah, I was testing the local dimming with very little on the screen and with things displayed mostly against completely black backgrounds, and in those cases I felt it Auto was more aggressive.
Also, here is a picture comparison in RE2 in a dark scene between the Neo G8 and AW3423DW. My...
So I received delivery of my Odyssey Neo G8 from Amazon. I have it side by side with my AW3423DW. Yes there are definitely scanlines on my unit at 240hz, I noticed them on my blueish green wallpaper. I have the local dimming set to 'Low' because when it's set to 'High' or 'Auto' I can see a bit...
Snagged it for $1,099, It's funny how it's cheaper than even the G7 on Amazon. I'll be comparing it against my Alienware QD-OLED, I've come to realize I'm not a fan of 1440p so maybe this monitor will suit my needs better.
As long as you're not running a dual-core processor from 2010, games are bottlenecked by the GPU at 4k. Check out some YouTube benchmarks, any decent gaming CPU of the past 8 years has the same results in FPS on games.
Still patiently waiting for my June 7th order to ship, I reordered to get...
Woah 😲 the first review unit lol, is there any blooming? For a quick test, maybe put a '10 hour black screen' YouTube video up and move the mouse around to see if you can really notice the MiniLED zones?
Looks like some reviewers have already gotten their hands on the monitor.

I would've bought that, but after having another IPS panel with unbearable blooming from local dimming (PG27UQ), I don't have much trust in the IPS + Local Dimming combo unless there's like 10,000 dimming zones.
I asked but they wouldn't budge so I just made another order. I might be further back in line but they haven't ran out of monitors yet. You can still get $50 off in another way lol
I still haven't gotten my discount for the reserve but I redeemed the $240 education discount by just going to the Samsung Education store page and browsing to the monitor page.
I think I've been convinced to sell my AW3423DW QD-OLED to get the Neo G8
"In practice, the Neo G9's glow is imperceptible. A combination of good screen quality, physical design and clever software modulation makes it so that you basically don't see the glow from the FALD.
You can... if you...
Ordered Sunday morning too, same as GameLifter I got the text notification from FedEx that they have the package. Website still says it hasn't shipped yet so there is a delay
Just got confirmation that my order shipped via FedEx, Dell chat was unable to do anything about price matching the monitor. I guess for once being early wasn't such a good thing lol. Still grateful mine has shipped.
Damn, 'cancel order' is greyed out for me saying that I'm too far into the order process ☹️. Mine hasn't shipped yet though and I ordered Sunday morning for anyone wondering.
Made my order, I've been waiting for a self-emissive PC Monitor forever, got tired of using CRT's especially with the unreliability and ridiculous prices for the nice ones. I am hoping the blacks are actually black.
Edit: Already got my order confirmation, I chose standard shipping and mine...
With the unveiling of the first OLED Monitor geared towards gamers, is anyone else losing interest in CRTs? Personally, I loved using my 21" Diamondtron CRTs for a few months but the resolution and screen size left me wanting more. Considering that now this upcoming OLED monitor will probably be...
After turning on my PC today, Whatever speakers or headphones are plugged into headphone jacks in my pc, I get this incredibly loud crackling/whining noise. I've tested this with known good headphones and speakers and they all do it. (the speakers/headphones have all been tested to work on other...
Has yours shipped? The last couple Nvidia GPU launches shipped same day for me, guess I'm a bit worried about it being cancelled. But then again I bought it legitimately so I'm probably worrying for nothing
I actually have noticed a lot of screen jittering with my delock 87685, this usually happens and 1920x1440 @85hz and above. I can trigger it fast by switching resolutions a bunch of times, but it also occurs when using my monitor for over an hour or so (But some days it works perfectly fine)...
